Unsurprisingly excellent wines; helpful and informed service; a great ambience (nice space, too); and really good food. We are returning.
Great place! I can recommend for a date. Outdoor seating was more comfortable (noise level inside).
Love this place - a very relaxing wine bar tucked away very close to Oxford St. We went for work drinks and had a lovely time. We will be back!
Delighted to read your comments, we are so happy to be one of your favourite wine bars. See you back soon! Kind regards, Ginny
Lunch to celebrate my mum’s birthday. The food and service were fantastic as always. Had a great time
Many thanks for sharing your review! Your comments are delightful, I have passed them on to the team. Kind regards, Ginny
Very poor overall experience, especially for a £200+ cost.
The ambience is lovely, particularly outside on a warm evening, and the staff were very friendly. We particularly enjoyed the friendliness and cheerfulness of the young sommelier, who doubled as our waitress and did her very best to make up for the shortcomings of the menu/food.
The starting cocktail was flavourless. We ordered the seafood platter thinking it would be enough for a light meal. It isn’t. It is not deserving of the name, or its position on the menu. It’s a starter at best. And needs to more than a pile of mussels and clams adorned with a couple of small grilled prawns (certainly not tiger) and a couple of bland oysters. It missing its star performer, the crab. Which we were later informed was not available and would not have been a crab anyway, but a small crab salad. This should not have the price tag it has and in any event shouldn’t have been offered or charged in full, if it was going to be incomplete.
We were still hungry, so we ordered 2 rib-eye steaks - that’s how satisfying the seafood was (half of the pile of mussels and clams left in the dish). The steaks are advertised at 280g, but couldn’t have been more than 150. We ordered medium rare and they came well done. Probably should have complained, but this is evidence of a poorly managed kitchen, and who likes to complain when trying to enjoy the evening.
Honestly there are better options in this city, even in Marylebone, and with a price more in line with the food quality.
I have to note though that the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, which coupled with the ambience, provided for an overall lovely evening. Will choose another kitchen next time however.
Thank you for your review. We are grateful for your praise of our staff and that is something we can be proud of. You may be aware of the rapidly increasing costs in our industry, and, sadly that means pressure to raise prices, not the other way round but we will urgently investigate your comments, making sure our portions are correct and our ratios are industry standard. The chef will be stung by your suggestion of a poorly managed kitchen, but we will make changes together if they are needed.
Marked as a 3 star review - probably somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Location was good. Ambiance fine. Nice layout.
Very good service.
Food was ok, perhaps the Lamb ragout was not the best choice. Desert was nice rather very good.
Wine - White Burgundy excellent and good value. Ribera del Duero - less impressive.
Great atmosphere, high quality food, very attractive wine list and super friendly staff.
Will come often
Good as always. Service exceptional.
Lovely lunch with work colleague. All staff were very attentive and pleasant.
Really nice experience, 28-50 is becoming one of our favorites! Service was really smooth, with Sam tending to us and the sommelier making sure we never had empty glasses, while the food was perfectly made. Will definitely come back!
Very good friendly staff . Food was great and a good wine list that made our meal. Thank you
It was not a warm day and I made a comment early on about the temperature, yet, throughout the lunch, both doors remained wide open, causing a cold draft to race around the restaurant and let smoker's smoke enter the restaurant. This was a real shame as the staff and the food the restaurant otherwise is just perfect!
First time here, Loved it highly recommend it! Will be back
A fantastic lunch, with beautiful food and even better service.
A great little place - the very definition of a hidden gem. Super wine list, all available by the glass, makes for a fun Sunday afternoon working your way through it!
We had a lovely meal and great wine! Very warm welcome and friendly staff all round. The steak was fantastic and I loved my dessert. Looking forward to coming back.
Brilliant staff and great location for a date
Really lovely in terms of food and service. On my list of fave places in London!
Excellent service and a really nice bar
Lovely comments, thank you! Kind regards, Ginny
Great food and lovely wine. The service was also attentive and overall a really good evening!
Dear Rachel, Thank you for your kind and honest review. We hope to welcome you back to 28-50 soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Excellent vegan selection on top of well-sourced fish and meat and one of the West End's best wine lists
Dear GastronomyJ, From your name, it sounds like you know what you are talking about! Thank you for your lovely comments, we hope to welcome you again soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Rude staff, food was overpriced for what it was overall wasn’t great.
Thank you for your review. We are unaware of any complaints from the Saturday service and are unable to look into your review as you have posted anonymously. Please get in touch with us so we can investigate further and make it up to you. Kind regards, Ginny
Lovely bright airy restaurant, efficient, polite staff and great food. Would definitely recommend.
Dear FroBee, Thank you! Kind regards, Ginny
Absolutely lovely! The food was delicious and the drinks were great. Our waitress was really friendly too.
Not only is the food delicious but the service is second to none. Marylebone branch was flooded so they very kindly put us in a cab and sent us to their South Kensington branch where we had a lot of merriment with all the staff there. I think I’ve found my new home….
I visited 28/50 last Friday with a client of mine and we had such a super time!
The Gazpacho starter soup I had was vibrant, zesty and refreshing, just what was needed to whet the appetite. The Crab starter my client had was tasty and seasoned well. My chicken main was delicious; Provencal tomatoes and cooked baby gem hearts were well suited to the dish. My client said his fillet steak was great too. We had a lovely French Rose Wine to wash it all down with. One thing to note was the Service was excellent. We were well looked after. The vibe was busy and easy going and I would highly recommend the restaurant for a business lunch or a thirsty Thursday after work bite with friends -especially to try the dark and rich Bourbon Chocolate mousse, Yum!
My client was impressed with the whole evening and said that he and his team would definitely go again next month. I too will be visiting again in October time, if not before.
Dear Jobc, Thank you for your review, although we are disappointed to hear that your meal did not live up to past experience at 28-50. We were very busy on the night you visited but this doesn't excuse the slow service or badly cooked food. We will be looking into what went wrong but in the meantime we hope you try us again... Please get in touch with me directly, we would really like to make it up to you. Kind regards, Ginny
Lovely for a quiet lunch with friends that I wanted to catch up with. Was not rushed
Oysters and shrimps are not fresh, the rest are frozen
Thats bizarre... Our seafood is fresh, has always been fresh and will always be fresh. Please get in touch with me directly (Ginny) so we can investigate further, we are quite shocked by your comments! Kind regards, Ginny
28-50 is a perfect place to go for a drink, great relaxed atmosphere and the drinks were lovely.
Dear Melissa, We are delighted to read your review and we look forward to seeing you soon. Kind regards, Ginny
restaurant side way too noisy to be able to have a normal conversation.
Really nice spot, tucked away from the noise of Central London. Great for a nice glass of wine and a light meal.
Dear Ana, Located on Marylebone Lane, we are in the heart of London and minutes from Oxford Street but it also feels like a million miles away! I am very glad to hear of your experience and we hope to welcome you back soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Excellent food, wine and ambiance. Made even better by great service from the lovely natured Eshez, and the ever attentive manager Riccardo.
Dear Jovita, Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant and for your lovely comments on Riccardo and Eshez. All of our staff work so hard in what is a particularly tricky time, its lovely that this is noticed. Kind regards, Ginny
A very pleasant place to have a good quality breakfast.
Dear Clive, Surprisingly, breakfast can be particularly tricky to get right so your comments are very welcome and we are so pleased you enjoyed it. We hope to welcome you back soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Always happy to go back to my favourite bar, excellent quality and fabulous variety, makes for a unique experience every time
Dear Olga, Thank you so much for sharing your review and an honour that we are your favourite bar! See you soon! Kind regards, Ginny
Amazing food and space!
Dear Siphokazi, Lovely comments, thank you so much! Kind regards, Ginny
Conscientiously and charming service in a quiet Marylebone spot just minutes from Oxford street, ideal to recharge. Lengthy wine list to suit all tastes. And outdoor seating both covered and in the sun on Bohemian Marylebone Lane.
Lovely food and great knowledge of the food and wine as served by our waitress. service was not overly attentive but neither did we feel overlooked as the restaurant was reasonably busy. When my friend did not like her choice of main from the Spring Set menu there was absolutely no problem in having it changed for her: very kind!! Will definitely book again
Went for a quick lunch to mark a team event. We had champagne and some sharing platters. The platters were really tasty and the service couldn't be fault. Great venue for a high quality mini-celebration.
Can’t go wrong. Excellent service, great food - what’s not to like?! The atmosphere is great, venue itself is stunning. Highly recommend. Coming again next week!
Decent food. Wine focused, limited cocktail selection (they did not have pineapple juice). Celebrating a birthday, I asked for a surprise cake when making a reservation (which I was happy to pay for), this did not happen.
We are looking into the missing cake issue, and of course that sounds very disappointing for you. Do ring, ask for me, Ginny, so that we can make it up to you. Kind regards, Ginny
