Food was amazing. Service was fast send the wait staff were friendly. If you're there for brunch, get the French toast... amazing!
Excellent for brunch
Hadn't been in a while, but was happy to see it is every bit as good as I remembered.
This is still one of our favorite Far West restaurants. The eclectic menu is great fun. The bar is fabulous. And the food is really terrific. Thoughtful and creative kitchen. We love the wait staff, too. And how about cherry pie a la mode for dessert?
This is a lovely restaurant with original and excellent food. The service always has a glitch. This time it was minor.
Good food and delightful service. The noise level made conversation a bit difficult but I will definitely keep dining there. Perfect pre-Signature Theater.
Always delicious food in a lively atmosphere. Had the beet salad which was fresh and colorful. The special
Dinner or brunch!!!
Came for dinner pre theater & highly recommend the warm orange dusted lobster dish but does need extra lobster in my opinion. Service was outstanding!!! Would most definitely return!!!! I’ve been here for brunch in the past...also excellent!!
Went for a lunch meeting so a quieter time of day, which was great to facilitate conversation. Service and food was outstanding.
Always fabulous food with friendly and fabulous service. I always love eating at 44&X. It feels like a small vacation not just a meal. Perfect for before or after theater or just a wonderful meal.
Excellent service, food is always fantastic. We have never been disappointed with any dish we’ve ordered. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends without hesitation. We are looking forward to trying new dishes at 44 /X the next time we’re in NYC.
Awful! Food is bland! Ordered their special of lobster bisque soup. They should have offered a grilled cheese sandwich because it was basically tomato soup. My mom ordered the pistachio crusted tilapia. It was tasteless. The waiter also came over and said “oh that fish doesn’t look great,” and then did NOTHING about it. The bland, tasteless and boring food also took over an hour to come out. This place is appealing because of the proximity to the theater district, but go have a slice of pizza instead. You will be happier.
The server was pleasant but was woefully lost in terms of productive table service.
This is my “go to” brunch spot when I come to NYC to see a matinee!
Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was terrible. My mom ordered her pancakes with no sausage and with syrup on side. It came with the sausage and syrup on the side. When we finally found our server, more than 10 minutes after we were served and we told him, he just apologized but offered nothing to make it better. It was also difficult to find server to get drinks refilled.
Very good brunch and service. Eggs cooked to perfection. I will return.
The menu is extensive and very ambitious but taste wise a lot of it was bland. Beet salad very good. Caesar average; very lemony. Bf liked halibut. Soft shell crab special essentially tasteless. The air conditioning blowing on the tables on the right side in front of the windows is a real problem. Every time it kicked on I had to put on my coat and close it up to my neck.
Casual dining at the finest level. Excellent food, excellent service, we would definitely recommend this restaurant to family, and friends.
Great service, great food, great location and not too noisy.
They make the absolute best mac & cheese I've had anywhere in NYC!
Food was outstanding. I am never disappointed. Very creative dishes which explode in your mouth.
Awesome food and service. A truly great night out.
Needs a better wine list.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC! Food here is always fresh and inventive. Great service. Convenient for pre-theatre dinners and late night desserts.
I love this restaurant, been coming here for about 20 years. It’s very well run, has excellent food and a lovely ambiance... just why it’s been around so long. Since I no longer work in the city, I can’t get here as often as I would like, so it’s my go-to restaurant when I do make it in. I have never been disappointed and there’s always a great selection of food to choose from.
Open, airy and bright - just what you want from a brunch spot especially when it's rainy and dreary outside. Great service, tasty food that doesn't overwhelm on portion size (which is a compliment - this isn't IHOP) and the muffins that hit your table the moment you sit down are much appreciated. It is brunch and we are always starving!
Loved the place! The food was served quickly. The drinks were delicious. Our waiter was efficient and polite.
Charming restaurant with friendly fun staff and great food and drinks
This place is amazing! We've eaten here the last three times we've visited. It gives off an amazing NYC vibe and the food is melt in your mouth delicious. The price is what you would expect for the ambiance and entree' selections. Great place to hang with friends or for a romantic night out. The bathroom is lovely!!
Always love this restaurant! Service is wonderful and the menu is bountiful. Something for everyone! The owners are friendly and welcoming.
Noisey- food was just ok
Friendly environment! Food was tasty and just the right amount! Tried sea bass and fried chicken between two of us! Exceptional service by Evan! Fair price for what we experienced!
This is the best restaurant I have ever been to in my life. This was the beset meal I have ever had in my entire life.
I had a 10pm reservation, but I walked in closer to 8pm because my theater presentation cancelled due to a technical problem. The manager could not have been more accommodating and found a way to squeeze me in. It is a very comfortable, rather small, room and they provide alfresco dining, weather permitting, The food was outstanding...chicken quesadilla appetizer, turkey and mushroom meat loaf, and fallen chocolate soufflé. Paired with two glasses of Hewitson Shiraz, it was an excellent combination, but about $100. My server was professional, but not exactly enthusiastic. Apparently, 44 & X caters to a primarily gay clientele and I was adding diversity to the room that night. It was not a problem.
This was a terrific dining experience that I would enthusiastically recommend...with the caveat that it is a bit pricey...
Location to style, ambience to quality of food this place is great. Had the chicken club which was delicious and partner had the halibut sandwich which he loved. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The owner came and spoke with us and he was super nice. Overall such a great experience that we are going to hold a birthday dinner there.
The food was incredible. Very flavorful salmon, lamb chops, cheese soufflé, gelato the works. Delightfully attendant waiter and the owner even sat to chat with us. Wonderful place.
All good as always. Great menu. Attentive but not intrusive wait staff. We sat a long time without being rushed. One need for improvement: all hard surfaces. Put up something to absorb the noise. Hard to hear each other at our table.
great service & good food - its my go to restaurant in Manhattan when friends are in town
We loved the extensive menu choices and the red snapper special was delicious.
We went for the first time before a show.. We were seated at 11:30 exact time our reservation was for. Everything was perfect they didn’t rush us and the place was packed. I will be back. Coffee was so good and the mini muffins were an added bonus.
