At Acquolina, we endeavor to create a vibrant and lively atmosphere where our patrons can revel in the experience of an authentic and “regional” Italian meal. The Tuscan-infused menu is meant to pair with an assortment of wines, with samplings from Italy and California. In the spirit of the Tuscan Trattoria, everything is meant to be authentic – the pasta boiler and the pizza oven came direct from Italy, brought here to guarantee a perfect plate of “al dente” pasta and a perfect slice of thin crust pizza.

Wonderful for an energetic crowd, house music and delicious food and wine on Sundays!
The service was hit and miss. I had to order my bottle of water three times before it came. I think the young woman waiting our table was still in training. I'm willing to give her a break because of that. My wife loved the salad and we both liked very much the stuffed egg plant. The pizza was okj but it had far too much cheese on it, thus over powering the other ingredients. My tomato and mozzarella salad was again just ok. I have tasted much better. The tomatoes for heritage were tasteless. The ambience was tolerable but the music was loud and definitely for Generation Y and Millenials.
Pizza was awesome. Veg pasta terrific.
Although service was very attentive, all dishes came at once - salad, appetizer, entrée. Very strange. We had been there two years ago pre-pandemic and it was excellent. One of our party ordered the same dish and pasta was not the same. Very disappointed. Must have a totally new staff.
Arrived for a 6:00 reservation at 6:08 after calling ahead to notify the restaurant of traffic issues.
We left at 7:06 having received exactly zero service from anyone except a well-intentioned busser.
We watched every single table in the restaurant turn - indoors and out. Two tables sat and received service after us. An outdoor table - a family from Orange County - received two rounds of cocktails and a solid 20 minutes from the server working the outdoor section in a conversation that predominantly involved comparing the San Francisco vaccine mandate to Jim Crow segregation laws. Meanwhile, we were the only interracial table in the restaurant and were willfully ignored for upward if an hour.
There was no manager on duty. No manager available when I called the house after we left.
Felt very touristy and the food a bit over-served and unoriginal.
Overpriced food for non-authentic italian fare. No pesto!! The focaccia bread was like cheese pizza.
Ambience was good
Servers were pleasant.
Our reservation was for a Friday evening and we requested a parklet table. The heaters kept us toasty on a chilly evening and it was nice to see the street activity. Our server was very nice and the food was out in less than 10 minutes. Highly recommend the tagliatelle!
One of the oddest dinners our family has ever had. First off. FORGET ABOUT SERVICE THERE IS NONE. We literally had to get up and ask for water. Ask to have my glass of wine that was sitting on the bar for 10 minutes. And ask for plates to eat they seemed to have plenty of people working they just had no idea what they were doing After being seated and getting our water for the family after two requests, our waitress evaporated . The for was unremarkable and impossible to enjoy because of the frustration the lack of service induced.
Outdoor seating was warm, and the food was delicious!! Pizza and lasagna were delightful. Service was great too, thank you Julio!
We paid extra for an order of bread, which is fine, but the bread we received looked like sliced bread for sandwiches and a couple of bread sticks. Nothing good to soak up any of the sauce from our pasta dish. We won't return, because there are so many restaurants to choose from in North Beach, and since we weren't blown away here, we'll try elsewhere next time.
Not enough waiters and could not keep the heaters on…dance party was lame same old 90’s Rave music over and over.
Some favorites were the Campanelle with shrimp (good size pasta dish) and the appetizer size meatballs ( 5 or 6 meatballs.). Only one bathroom so there was always a line. Service was very good. Overall, a good experience!
Staff worked hard to keep up. Lasagna was heavy. Pizza good but the thin crust was underdone in the center. The Caesar salad dressing was very plain. The vibe of the neighborhood was great and came through. I’d go again.
Too bad they don’t have a basic spaghetti and meatballs or sausage. That’s my base barometer for any initial Italian restaurant visit.
The menu on Opentable is not accurate. Full dinner prices for lunch items. Beet ravioli was a very small portion (6 small raviolis) for price.
Excellent food, lovely wines, and competent service abound. We had a great meal in a gorgeous place.
Great food, great service
We were disappointed by both the service and food at this restaurant. 2 people didn’t even finish there food because they didn’t like the dish . Will not return.
Great time great atmosphere.
Great classic North Beach hangout, great location on Washington Square, we dined outdoors. Food is good, but vibe is better!
Good food and good service. We really enjoyed. Definitely recommended!!
Great service and amazing food such a great experience 👌🏽
Server was very slow and she needed to be asked multiple times for simple things like bread to start of le with. I purchased a $100 bottle of wine and service was still not any more attentive to the basics (water refill, the bill, etc). Great food, fun place, service was very polite, but slow and not a focus.
Food was incredible, service was great. Will be back.
Delicious Italian food. Great North Beach atmosphere. Busy on Weekends.
Amazing place to hang with friends! The staff was really kinda and proactive. The food was above my expectations!
I’ll definitely come back
Margarita pizza and tiramisu were amazing!
As usual, food was great, but unlike other times we’ve visited, the noise level and service were not the greatest due to an excessively large and loud crowd who were there to enjoy music played by a live DJ. We will continue to patronize Acquolina for the food, wine selection and atmosphere.
An amazing experience, enjoyed the food and service. Server did recommend one item when asked, however the connection between server and customer was great!
We were seated promptly on time and the waiter was very nice. I had read the reviews about the loud techno music so it was OK for a casual dinner. But it's a pity because it could be so much nicer with no or more regular, softer music. Food was quite good.
Would have appreciated a heads up that we could expect a crowd of 50+ unmasked Eurotrash wannabes bobbing up and down to repetitive techno music on the restaurant’s front sidewalk. If you’re looking for a quiet North Beach dinner, this ain’t the spot.
Food was excellent as advertised as was the service. Music was a bit loud and took a few mins to adjust to allow a conversation. Would go back again prepared for a loudish scene.
Waiter started off attentive, then went MIA. My cocktail ran dry, my water ran dry, our appetizer finished and we wanted to order more. I called another waiter who was in the area and he was confused. I complained we haven’t seen our waiter for a while and want to order more food. The confused waiter then had an argument with our re-emerging waiter within earshot of our table and said I was complaining. Our waiter then proceeded to ignore us. We paid our check and left. Original Joes on the opposite corner is WAY BETTER!!
Very fun and warm outside area
Great time and food
The whole menu looked amazing. We shared the heirloom capresse as an appetizer and had the lasagna and the linguine with clams as entrees. Everything was delicious. Great wine list as well. Unfortunately the service was bad. Our waiter didn’t acknowledge us until maybe 10 minutes of us being seated. When he finally approached u our table he expected the whole order. We’re wanted to enjoy our dinner. He never came to check on us. We had to return the lasagna because it wasn’t very hot (they corrected this and was delicious).
Excellent "real italian" pastas. Boar ragu and vognole stood out. Deserts were excellent as well.
Great outdoor setup for dining. Plexiglass to break the wind and keep in the heat from the heat lamps. Delicious varieties of GF options as well as vegetarian options for those who need the accommodations. We enjoyed the meatballs (GF), focaccia, chocolate pasta with boar meat, red sauce and olives and the lamb chops with potatoes (GF). Absolutely wonderful. They also have an excellent selection of wines and spirits
Water smelled like mildew, pizza tasted like sbarro. I would not be going back here.
Love it here! Ordered the Caesar salad which is a generous portion, prosciutto pizza, lamp chops (special entree for the evening). Everything was delicious! Oh and don’t sleep on the espresso martini!
