It's a lovely setting, food is excellent ~ highly recommend it!
I like the open air ambience of the restaurant. The food was fresh and they are willing to prepare an entree to your preference. Our server, Lili, was fantastic. Employees in other areas were also very nice and friendly.
Great pancakes for breakfast, and the service was friendly and professional!
Horrible experience. Empty restaurant on a Saturday night; slow service; mediocre food.
We celebrated our annual lunch from Scripps Hospital. It was absolutely stunning the service was impeccable, the food delicious
Seemed to be understaffed. We had hoped for outdoor seating on the balcony but we informed only one outdoor heater was available and it was in use. We find eating indoors at Adobe to be noisy. Breakfast/brunch is where they shine.
While the food was delicious and service was great, we made a reservation and were first seated outside without any heat lamps in 55 degree weather and when we asked for an indoor seat were moved into the bar area. While that was fine for us, another couple in a similar situation complained and were able to get a seat inside. I recommend that the restaurant honor their reservations (which we confirmed the day before) vs. trying to honor a large party with a last minute reservation.
The worst Thanksgiving dinner ever. Tiny portions, bad service, mediocre food quality.
Monday of Thanksgiving week so lunch was pretty quiet. We had the hearts of romaine. pretty basic; perhaps a bit too much dressing. No rush and self parking is complemented.
Hello charlie, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your lunch at Adobe el Restaurant. At Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, we strive to offer a memorable dining experience, and we regret that we did not exceed expectations during your visit. We have addressed your dissatisfaction with the Hearts of Romaine with our team, and we look forward to welcoming you back for a more enjoyable meal.
So much potential, but sad to say this Father’s Day outing fell flat. Food was cold & tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time. Service was minimal. Very disappointed overall. The venue also needs some maintenance, looking dated & worn down.
Restaurant is. Nice, food we ordered an oatmeal my husband and I and was delivered cold, because we were needed to be in another place sooner and we were starving we ate it, Service is not what is expected , coffee was cold as well.
Not what I was expected
We shared the fixed three course menu for two for $50. An outstanding value if you can get it.
I recently stayed at the Estancia Hotel and had the opportunity to try Adobe several times. Although all the food was good, by far the best entree I tried was the duck, wonderful sauce and not at all fatty. I would definitely recommend this dish. The halibut was nicely prepared but a little bland, the short ribs were tasty but not as tender as they should be. The scallop appetizer was excellent, as was the seafood bisque, although the bowl in which it was served was much hotter than the temperature of the soup it contained. The kitchen service was a little slow at times, but the staff at the restaurant and the hotel is outstanding. I should also mention this is a good place for breakfast and their coffee and lattes are both great.
A hidden gem. Estancia did not disappoint. After dinner we went to the outdoor bar area to listen to l ive music and drink yummy wine. We ate dinner outside on the balcony of the restaurant overlooking the courtyard. It was lovely. The duck was delicious, the salad a perfect compliment. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
in our party of 3 only 1 of us (myself) really enjoyed their food. the others thought their dishes were mediocre, particularly for the price/style of the restaurant and as the dishes were recommended by the wait staff. Ambiance was very nice and overall we enjoyed ourselves-- when we gave direct feedback on the food, they comped a dessert which was really amazing. Definitely recommend the burger with fries, was just what I was looking for.
Sat outside and ambiance were very nice, but the only downside was the occassional hotel guest walking. The food was just average, nothing special.
Wonderful place. Brought my mom for her birthday. Yummy and pleasant!
This restaurant was a nice, upscale experience with great service. The food was delicious - but the selections for lunch were very few. I would go back.
Superb ... food, service, ambiance .. what a gem. All you other people out there ... stay away! I love the un-crowded atmosphere!
I have been to this restaurant 5-6 times now. We went there recently for Valentine's day and they had a pre-set menu with wine pairings that was very good. To my surprise (and good for my wife) they also had a smaller menu that you could order from if the pre-set menu just wasn't your thing. The flexibility was a welcome change from most restaurants on special occasion dates. We also had dinner in the library with the fireplace roaring near us...very nice, but I am not sure if this was set up just for Valentine's day to accommodate the overflow...if so, a nice surprise (very cozy and romantic). Overall, Adobe el is a great place for dinner or lunch (try the tortilla soup if you are there for lunch - delicious!).
After being left standing in the foyer for 10 minutes without a "Hello", a table was grudingly set for me. I sat there for another 5 to 10 minutes surrounded by a sea of dirty tables without water or a server stopping by. Get the idea? Service was awful, food medicore and the surroundings were awful. I'd leave the hotel and eat elsewhere.
We had a great time and the staff took very good care of us. So glad we chose Adobe el Restaurante at Estancia for dinner.
The food portions were too small and the service was slow.
Great experience...I'll be back for sure. Adobe el Restaurante was the perfect location for my business lunch.
The food was mediocre for what they charged.
Romantic atmosphere, awesome food and wine list. Top notch.
the seats were very uncomfortable
Our party of 6 sat comfortably outside were able to linger at the table and talk without interruption. Annie, our server, could not have been better -- she was pleasant, capable and fun, and made our experience at Adobe el Restaurante just perfect! I had been to the restaurant before but my colleagues had not, and they were very impressed. I think we'll be back soon!
Very enjoyable. Accomodated all our requests and needs. Staff all very professional/well-trained/polished.
The food, service and view were unbelievable!!! I highly recommend this restaurant.
We loved the atmosphere at Adobe! We felt so relaxed - almost like we were on vacation. The food was delicious and our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had an all-around fantastic experience and can't wait to return!
The restaurant exceeded our expectations. We dined off of the restaurant week menu, but the service was provided to the level of a normal diner (not the case in our experiences with all restaurant week locations). All 6 courses we tried we excellent and each would call us back. The outdoor seating was beautiful. Our table overlooked a courtyard with fountain and felt like we were in a secluded hacienda, not in the middle of San Diego. We will definitely be attending this restaurant again soon.
Great menu selection, great items offered even for restaurant week (and full servings!). Will definitely return. The interior could be spruced up - feels a bit like a lobby. The outside balcony tables overlooking the courtyard looked enjoyable.
Loved our server Marc, LOVED our food, and it is a beautiful property!
I wasn't able to go to the restaurant, but my family said that the food wasn't that good. The filet was a hunk of meat that wasn't flavorful and was stringly, like a roast. The complimentary valet parking and outdoor dining area was nice. We won't be returning for a meal.
very nice atmosphere; it is in a four star hotel with a spa, but it is not your typical hotel food. the surrondings are" high end " calif. rustic. the rooms run 325.00 to 800.00. the food is is priced just right.
When booking the reservation for the Mother's Day Brunch, it wasn't clear at all, that brunch didn't start until 11:30. Our reservation was at 10:30 and ended up being for the regular breakfast buffet. By the time we relized the mistake, we were already full from eating at the breakfast buffet and I was disappointed because I wanted to treat my wife to the same wonderful brunch we'd enjoyed in the past. Fortunately, the manager realized my frustration and disappointment on this special day, and solved the situation to my satisfaction. As a result, we will definately be back for a wonderful brunch in the future. I would suggest it be more clear on the reservation site as to the exact time that brunch begins though. Thank you kindly.
Very good food. Just ok dessert.
There was nothing the server could have done to improve his service to us that evening. It was literally perfection. He went above and beyond to make our anniversary a special and memorable event. The food was outstanding.
