We are open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week and are positioned perfectly for downtown corporate and social group and private dining.
Alma is operated by Fifth Group Restaurants, owners of Atlanta favorites South City Kitchen Midtown, South City Kitchen Vinings, La Tavola, Ecco, El Taco, Lure and Bold American Events.
Four of us at the table all agree Alma Cucina gets an all out five tonight. Maybe is was our server Ashely who set the tone and started and ended the meal upbeat, unflappable , and really into showing us good service. We followed a few of her recommendations and each serving was better than the previous one. The four of us did share some items like the Guacamole Salsa sampler. We also shared different tacos and each food item was hot, tasty and devious. We all agreed that the pork tocos needed less salt or maybe the kitchen slipped but the pork was still delicious. We have been here numerous times when we work in ATL and we always have good food at Alma but tonight the kitchen outdid itself.
We have eaten here twice now. Don’t get the Chile Relleno, cake like crust and very dry. Wife liked the swordfish tacos.
We love Alma! We come for market several times a year and always get reservations there.
Service was exceptional!
Service was poor especially the way the staff treated customers. The food was not authentic and lacking flavor and sauce. Overpriced. Missed the mark. Better restaurants in the area.
Food is consistently great and we had the best waitress. Took every recommendation and each was terrific. Great drinks as well.
Excellent service and great food. Will definitely return!
awesome service & food! Love this place!
My favorite place to eat in Atlanta! The service is filled with joy and enthusiasm as they know you will be delighted by each and every bite. Terry is our favorite server - the only thing that would make it better is if he could join us for the entire dinner! The food is stunning and truly delicious. Prepare for flavors you never thought possible. Their kitchen continues to dream up wonderful creations that we look forward to trying each time we visit. This particular trip we fell in love with the Octopus, Scallop and Grits and the seasonal Pineapple Guacamole. We never leave without having dessert. We still cannot decide which was best! (last night my favorite was the flourless chocolate cake - total chocolate paradise!) Thank you to EVERYONE at Alma. You make our stay so special!!
Second visit to Alma Cocina and it was just as great as I remember! Definitely get the trio guacamole and salsa. Fried avocado tacos were out of this world as well!
Had our order fixed three times. We were told one thing but got another. Finally just gave up. Manager was willing to help but seemed very annoyed. Needs customer service training. I’ve visited this restaurant many times before and this time it was all off as if this just aren’t consistent. Sad because we usually recommend it but my advice is to go elsewhere. Given up 🤷♂️
The food was amazing!! Service was great and the atmosphere was pleasant! Highly recommend!!
Server was awesome. Food was amazing as usual. Great experience.
Perfection! Our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful. He thoroughly explained every menu item we asked about, and all of his recommendations and suggestions were excellent. My brother and his wife were blown away with both service and quality of food. This is my 2nd visit and I have only great things to say about both dining experiences!
Dinner before a concert! Our waiter Jerry made all the difference. He offered suggestions & answered questions about the menu. The wine was tasty though their specialty is margaritas & they have a large selection of Tequila & Mezcal. We had the chips & guacamole to start. My husband had the whole hog tacos & I had the chicken special tacos! It was a lot of food on a round tray. Make your own tacos with orange marinated chicken breast & drumstick escabeche. Sides included tortillas, pineapple & a Mexican pesto sauce! This could easily serve 2.
Jerry was one of the best servers we’ve had & a joy to have in downtown Atlanta where choices to eat are not always stellar! Glad to see this restaurant values Service & happy customers!
The taco dishes were outstanding! The guacamole & salsa sampler appetizer was fantastic! Margaritas were delicious. Finally, the service was great. Friendly and expedient. Overall, a wonderful dining experience.
The closest of authentic Mexican flavors you can find in the US.
This was such a great experience. This was my first time having a dinner group at Alma and were not disappointed. Great food - the fried cheese was unbelievable! The chicken tinga tacos were so delicious and our other guests equally enjoyed the amazing margaritas.
Thanks for being one of my favorite Fifth Group restaurants!
Haki was our server and an absolute class act. He provided stellar food recommendations and the dishes were some of the best we've had all year. Highly recommend.
Terrific service from Johnny and amazing steak tacos!
Our family viewed Alma Cocina on the show Burgers, BBQ, and Brews.
The restaurant lived up to the review 100%!
We fully enjoyed the total experience.
The dishes have multiple layers of flavors in every bite, with the perfect balance of spice, sweetness, and over taste.
Our waiter was wonderful and really took the time to walk us through the menu and guided us to the perfect meals.
We look forward to returning soon!
Great food and service! Seating a little tight. Johnny was great!
Salsa trio, fried cheese and churros desert were great. Scallops looked nothing like on AtlantaEats or website. Chicken mole was over done and mole sauce dried out. Maybe we had 2nd string cook staff on Sunday night.
Food was amazing. Our waiter was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and just awesome! Definitely would recommend!!
Alma Cocina was awesome. We were seated right away at a good table. Our waiter was fantastic. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and he made the night extra special with his service and humor. Would highly recommend Alma Cocina again.
My daughter was in town and we were going to a comedy show and I wanted to try a new, different restaurant close to the Tabernacle so after reading some reviews I made reservations, and we were not disappointed. We had the best waiter Kaci who took the time to explain the different drinks and dishes on the menu, sharing his favorites with us. The ice cube margaritas were so freaking delicious and amazing, the flavor profiles were stunning. We decided to go with a few of the small plates that our waiter recommended and each was more delicious than the last.... the scallop ceviche was incredible with just the right amount of heat, then the Georgia shrimp sope, was so different and delicious but the Fried Chihuahua Cheese with steak totally blew us away, I’ve never had anything like it before and the steak was the perfect addition to the dish. The dinner was a great start to a perfect night with my daughter!!!
Great experience! We had an amazing waiter that was great at explaining the menu and answering our questions. A great place to go to before a show at the Tabernacle!
Lots of potential but food was a little simple for the price and billing of the restaurant so a bit expensive for what it was. Pretty loud and servers were great but unite slow
Lets make sure we mention the flourless chocolate cake and the homemade ice cream before we get to anything else. Waitress (JESS) was superb knew all the details of every item on the menu. They had very good salsa. We had the fish tacos which were delicious and quite filling. A must visit for anyone in town. Thank you.
Casey my waiter was great and knowledgable of the Menu .Help my Anniversary Dinner great
From the authentic Mexican menu to the knowledgeable and friendly staff, dinner at Alma was one of the best experiences I've had in a very long time.
5 stars isn't enough.
The waiter was so knowledgeable about the menu and very pleasant. The entire experience was one I would love to have every single time
Food was great, service was great and drinks even better!
My girlfriend and I had an excellent dining experience at Alma Cocina. Our waiter was really cool, and the food was delicious. The guac and salsa had a phenomenal balance of flavors while the chicken al carbon tacos had very fresh flavors. 10/10 would recommend to a friend and definitely going again.
The menu is hard to understand what is gluten free or not.
My boyfriend and I went out for a casual date night and wanted to try something new. We were in the mood for Mexican, and saw alma Cocina had strong reviews. So we decided to try it out.. we were taken great care of the moment we walked in, and Jess was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations. We both had a margarita and both were good, but I liked my boyfriend’s spicy “just wear black” margarita better than the Amatitan that I had.
As far as food goes- we tried all of the first bites and the salsa/guacamole tasting. Our favorites out of the first bites were the pork belly, shrimp, and shishito peppers. All of the guacamole’s and salsas were good as well, they were all different and a nice little spin on more traditional flavors. Our main dishes were crispy cod street tacos and the chicken molé. I enjoyed my tacos and ended up eating them a day later for leftovers. My boyfriend enjoyed the different flavor of the molé, and it was his first time trying it... it is an acquired taste and quite heavy. All in all, we had a good experience but probably will stick to the more traditional “hole in the wall” Mexican spots.
Had a great time
Our server was fantastic! The roasted pineapple guacamole was my all time favorite
The food was fabulous and Alex, or server was amazing!
Outstanding food and service!
