Service was on the slow side. Soup was delivered as we were still eating our appetizer. However, food was very good and reasonably priced. We will definitely return. Pumpkin mushroom soup was great.

We had a wonderful evening! We are glad we chose Back Burner to celebrate Valentines Day. We wish it was open on Sunday though-actually Valentines Day.

We were celebrating Valentine’s Day, but were very disappointed with our food. I’m not going to go on and on about what was wrong with both of our meals, because my heart goes out to all restaurants and what they have had to endure because of the COVID Pandemic. I know it effects their suppliers, their chefs, and all of the staff. We are trying to do our best to support our local restaurants. We still tipped generously.

I was disappointed in the number of choices on the lunch menu and the fact that they no longer have quiches prepared for lunch. The service was very good and attentive and my crab-cake and side dishes were very good.

Our sever Julie, was so sweet and full of information. The food was perfect, perfect portion size.

The menu choices were, as always, superb. The filet and the ribeye could not have been better. Our server, Diana, made our entire meal a treat. She is the best! You can be certain that we will be back again.....and again....and again!

Joined another couple for a double date before a night at Longwood Gardens. Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. They seated us by the fire, which offered a pleasant ambiance without being uncomfortably warm. After informing our server we were on a time schedule, she was very friendly and accommodating. We all ordered different appetizers and entrees and all were cooked to perfection & delicious. You really can’t go wrong with the menu. We drank wine, but they also offer an impressive selection of creative seasonal cocktails. The ladies room was clean and well stocked, & everyone abided by current Covid regulations. All in all our visit was a 10/10 and we look forward to dining with them again soon.

Excellent lunch menu, with lots of choices. It was difficult to select, as so many looked wonderful. The waitress was cordial, but not quite proficient with gluten free order. The restaurant noise level was quiet, but it was VERY cold! The temp was set to 64, which is too cold for a winter lunch. Perhaps they need to crank it up for the lunch time, then adjust as necessary.

Our server Patty made our visit wonderful! First time here and happy to support local during this crazy time. Look forward to returning! Great date night!

The best burgers and wow what a variety to choose from. The Brussel sprouts are a must. Great burger specials on Tuesdays.

We picked this restaurant based off of the reviews. Perhaps it was an off night. We waited 10-12 minutes for a server to make contact with us after we sat down. We ordered an appetizer and the server returned several minutes later and stated they were all out of what we had ordered. We opted to just order meals at that point. Several minutes later, the server returned and asked us if we still wanted the appetizer we ordered, that they were able to make it now. We said yes, but it never arrived. Our dinners arrived from another staff member. They were great, no complaints at all about the food. We never saw the server again until we were done our dinners. We just asked for the check and left.

We got engaged here 9 years ago & go to Back Burner for all of our anniversary and birthday dinners. The food, service and atmosphere are always top notch.

Not our best meal, not our worst. I didn't realize that they closed at 8, so when we sat down for our reservation at 7:30, we were able to get one cocktail and then the bar closed at 8 without any warning. Cheese board was missing some accoutrements, steak on my cobb salad was more medium than medium rare and I asked for it to be rare. Food was good, just not astounding.

A neighborhood gem, always worth the trip out to Hockessin. We went for Burger night and weren't disappointed, both burgers Truffle Shuffle and the Steakhouse were excellent! We added fries, which taste so much better than they looked. We will be back!

Nice meal but no bread was served as usual. The waiter was not knowledgeable with the craft beers but he did make a good recommendation.

We love the Back Burner and made the reservation early in the week. One hour before the our reservation the hostess called to cancel our reservation without an apology. We understand during covid it is an unsettling time, but our family was driving from two hours away to join. I called back and suggested we split the reservation into two tables and was disappointed that the restaurant employee didn't come up with a solution. Our waitress was abrupt with us and had an attitude that we were a bother. We made the best of being together, but will consider somewhere else for our special occasions next time.

The Back Burner should consider the loss of revenue and how it treats it's customers and employees!

Quiet and uncrowded, but the service was slow snd our server was not very attentive. Food was good, but portions were small. After dinner coffee was warm at best. Charming restaurant overall, have patronized them for 30+ years, but this visit was disappointing and not up to their usual standards. We won’t be going back for dinner for awhile, maybe just for the nightly specials or to get food from the adjacent cafe.

We joined a couple for their first meal out and had a lovely evening. I think we closed the Back Burner down! The food was fabulous and our waitress was absolutely lovely.

Great food and great atmosphere! My party of two was seated quickly and enjoyed a very friendly wait staff along with fantastic food/drinks. Also a pretty phenomenal playlist with a mix of just about everything.

Wonderful, as always. I dined here on 11/14 to celebrate my birthday with my partner and friends, and we were surely not disappointed!
The pumpkin mushroom soup was fabulous, as always and the crab cakes amazing. I got the tequila cocktail you had on special and it was perfect.

My friends and I enjoyed our time having lunch together and our extended visit.

The Back Burner is always consistent. I get a great meal with a rustic ambiance. Love the linen tablecloths which seems to be missing in many higher end establishments.

This was not the normal visit. In the past, everything was great but not this time. We waited twenty minutes waiting for our drinks and only received them because we flagged down a hostess. Our food order came out incorrectly and the young man who brought it out was surprised that I wanted to send it back. The creme brulee desert was runny. Overall, it just wasn't a good night.

They have a nice little area outdoors. They were definitely understaffed, but we weren’t in a hurry. Food was great as always.

Fantastic dinner... crab cakes were delicious! The Pumpkin Mushroom soup is a must! Service is always spot on! Great location and the decor is on the rustic side but very eloquent. Definitely a great place!
