What Insiders Are Saying
The incredible People Watching available at Balthazar makes scrunching into a tiny table and overpaying for brunch totally worth it. Say whatever you want about this place, you can’t take away the fact that the kitchen gets it done.
The employees specially the receptionist were amazing, they were friendly, attentive and incredibly good people.
Tables really close together which sometimes creates difficulty hearing your conversation.
the special of the night, short ribs, were not good. they graciously took off the menu.
Great atmosphere! The staff was wonderful, they were very attentive. The Seafood Tower and steak were fabulous. Dessert was a perfect ending. Did not feel rushed to leave, although they were fully booked. Make a reservation!!
As always, amazing food and experience! The service is also always at its best.
Good food, good quick service. Tables are close together so can be noisy and not personal but great overall
Balthazar is a fantastic restaurant I’ve ever had. Love it.
The food was sooo yummy! Service was fantastic! and the restaurant was beautiful.
Omgoodness WE LOVED EVERYTHING about Benjamin Steakhouse Prime. Made it by mistake. Always ate at the sister restaurant Benjamin Steakhouse, high testosterone!! Well Benjamin Prime is ROMANTIC, BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS-VERY ATTENTIVE STAFF—my husband and I celebrated our 50th anniversary. We felt so comfortable with the 30 age group to us!!! The staff knew it was our 50th and REALLY MADE US FEEL SO SPECIAL. by the way the peas and onions are our favorites!!!!plus surf and turf and lamb chops !!! Thank you BSP♥️
Yo, personalmente amo el lugar, es popular, entonces es ruidoso, pero a mi me encanta
I got a salmon that was uncooked but they fixed that in a heartbeat and everything else was great!
This time we went for ;brunch. Menu a bit limited and while good, it was not outstanding or especially French in content. Eggs tend to taste the same, regardless of the menu of origin. Serice ecelent and management especially accomodating to handicapped guests. Very nice and much appreciated. I wold be more inclined to recommend for lunch or dinner.
My favorite spot in the city for breakfast.
Food was great! Ordered monkfish and manager ordered steak au poivre. The ambience was a bit noisy, but cool. We saw some actors we recognized. The server was miserable so it made the experience a little less enjoyable.
Best service. Food was to die for! Can’t wait to go back!
Make a reservation! The staff was very friendly and the food great!
Pricey for lunch but food was really good. Orders were brought out quickly . We had onion soup, tuna nicoise, shrimp cocktail, eggs Benedict and beet salad.
Service was good but Food overpriced and not worth the money. Definitely better places in NYC more deserving of the price. Tables also extremely cramped.
A must-visit place in NYC. It's like stepping off the busy streets in SOHO and landing in a Paris bistro. Delicious food, gracious service - despite always being packed. I was seated right on time with my OpenTable reservation, even though I was a solo diner. I will continue to visit Balthazar again and again.
We asked to add an egg and avocado as you can do according to the menu, we got everything dismantled in separate plates, the presentation of the food was poor. The price was too expensive compared to the service and food we received
Always delicious we go every time we come to NYC.
Excellent service! Fernando was our main waiter and made our evening extra special!!!
One of our favorites anytime we are in the city! We always make it for eggs Benedict!
Overall great French option. Atmoshphere is historic but very loud. Burger is great.
Went with my family including 3 teenagers. All left satisfied and full.
Balthazar is a classic! Has the same happening vibe as it did 20 years ago. We went for brunch on Sunday and had to wait for our table (reservation necessary) but the people watching was great and staff apologetic. They brought us a glass of champagne on the house once we were seated. Waiter was great. Meal was very good. Will for sure stay on my NYC list.
Wonderful lively brunch for our last day in NYC
Great setting with excellent service and well prepared food. A little on the expensive side for he fare. But, I think worth it. Highly recommend it.
Balthazar is amazing! It is definitely a go-to and return-to restaurant. The service is totally on point. We loved it!
Service good but food was tepid and not very exciting. French fries were burned and food nothing special and very over priced.
Amazing seafood platter. The small one is big enough for 2
Seated right away. All servers were pleasant. Food delicious.
A great evening out. The onion tart was fabulous and all entrees were great. We were a bit time constrained and the waiter accommodated us perfectly without making it seem rushed. Love the decor and ambience!
We enjoyed Balthazar for my birthday as a family of four. My husband ordered salmon and it was very good. My children ordered the steak and split it. They enjoyed it. I ordered the French onion soup and it was great. For desert we split the profiteroles, and it was not our favorite. I wish we would have ordered differently. Our wait staff seemed distracted, but still nice and helpful.
Balthazar was my favorite restaurant in NY since more than 15 years, and ı always liked the food and ambiance .
My last visit was a dissapointmemt..the food was bad,so was the athmosphere.
