Food was well prepared and tasted good. Extremely slow
Only complaint is the need for shading on the west side window. The glare was so strong that I could barely see my client and was trying not to squint. 12:30 lunch
Menu was limited. Food was ok at best. Service average. Won’t be back for dinner.
The service here was less than stellar. There was a lot of confusion about our reservation, even though 3 people asked. Our waitress seemed very over worked and was inattentive. After our food came out, she never came back and I had to go searching for water refills twice. The food was good, but not good enough to make up for the lack of service. I would have to have a good reason to ever go back here, I was unimpressed.
Excellent restaurant, easy valet parking, great food, great drinks- fried chicken the best.
Wish server was a bit quicker with our drinks-and refills. Food was INCREDIBLE!! Best “Hotel Restaurant” food I’ve had since the Jefferson Hotel in DC.
It was great! The crab roll was amazing.
Very interesting option to avoid eating at the food court
Amazing variety of dishes. Enjoyed the roasted veggies, brussel sprouts, and grilled romaine salad with scallops. Will definitely return!!
Good food and service. We had a reservation, waited longer then expected (10 minutes) for a table to be cleared. Appetizer menu is excellent, tater tots and pretzels were a great first course. Noisy in the bar, but possible to have a conversation at the tables in the back.
My friend and I split some shared plates. All incredible. The pork belly was incredible. I don’t like Brussels sprouts but I enjoyed these. The avocado toast tasted good, my only qualm is that the toast wasn’t toasted. Not the end of the world, but made it harder to eat. Still delicious
Great spot for a quick birthday lunch for a colleague. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked for a specialty dessert for the birthday girl. They displayed it very nicely and all were pleased.
Thank you for the positive experience!
My girlfriend and I spent our Valentine’s Day at B&B, it was great! We had a couple Happy Hour drinks and the 72hr Pork Belly to start.
There was only one time we had to look around for the waiter, but it was totally understandable on a busy holiday night.
The salmon and the ribeye were both cooked exactly how we ordered and tasted fantastic. The cauliflower side was absolutely amazing!
Thanks for a great dinner!
Went for brunch. I know some reviews said not that great, overall the coffee was great and food was pretty innovative and tasty! Will go back for drinks and dinner!
Fun vibe, great beer and cocktail menu. Love the small plate appetizers. Noisy/vibrant so if want quiet or important conversation don't come here. Sliders variety awesome! Food, drinks, ambiance great; service was so-so. We went on Satruday 8pm..
We've come here a few times and the food has always been good. The service was quick and courteous. We love their 72 hr pork belly appetizer. Not to thrilled with the grilled romaine salad needed more char. Otherwise, definitely recommend this place if your looking for something new and tasty. Great drink menu, too.
Went for a business lunch and had a salad and side of Brussels sprouts. Sprouts had decent flavor and were cooked nicely although overly salted and I bit into a couple pieces of pistachio shell which was unpleasant. Salad was a huge flat plate with ranch dressing swirled on the bottom, topped with a layer of not-chopped-enough romaine lettuce and shaved Parmesan on top. Accompanying bread was enormous and had a vague cumin taste to it. Iced tea $4. Way too expensive for what it was. I won’t rush to go back. My fellow diner had a wilted salad and the chicken breast that she ordered was just dumped whole on top of the lettuce. Did not look appealing at all. Saw some chicken biscuit sliders go by that looked better.
We had two servers and it took longer than normal to get waited on. The food was not great and the service was about the same. I would not recommend.
I have never experienced a restaurant with a management team that was as inhospitable as their staff. When you walk in on time for your reservation and there are 4 hosts and one manager at the host stand and many open tables available, you’d expect to be sat right away. The fact we had to wait for our table had me fuming.
This place is a joke.
We wanted to try something new to celebrate a job promotion for our son. Excellent food and a great waiter. Will go again.
Surprisingly loud Noise level made impossible to enjoy dinner. Even at small table conversation impacted, waitress had to lean in close to hear. It was unpleasantly loud (this was a Wed night) Would not return for that reason.
This is one of Tyson's best spots for business lunches, casual dining, happy hour, original and stellar cuisine, and a rock-solid beer selection. Chef Dan has a gift for creative and delectable dishes that make the most of local sources, and the draft beer selection includes rotating taps for some of Virginia's best craft brewers. There's even an Adroit Theory rotating tap! Not to mention the 72-hour pork belly...
The food was mostly so, so. The only good thing was the salted caramel fudge and the fried rice side. Brussel sprout salad was drenched in lemon, steak was burnt to a crisp on the outside, the Smith (can't remember the name) cake was dry. Service was SO slow. This is a casual environment and dinner shouldn't have taken over 2 hours. Wasn't the worst place in the world but not willing to give it a second chance.
Great place for drinks and shared side dishes only.
Crowded and bustling on a Friday evening - in mostly a good way. Not great for a cozy date - tables a little on top of each other / quite loud. Food was amazing. Service was a little slow since it was so crowded - but when we let them know we had movie commitment afterwards - they were very accommodating. Overall very promising - I will try again a few times to figure out how to best enjoy this place.
The restaurant is very fun and the staff was really good. The food was ok. I had a fried chicken sandwich and the meat did not seem to be of great quality. The vegetables were really good.
First experience during lunch on Monday was terrible for a variety of reasons. First, the server was uneasy, passive, and dressed down to the point where I seriously wondered if he was filling in from the kitchen. Secondly, the fried and grilled chicken sandwiches are inedible because they use a deboned thigh or leg quarter, which is way too much skin and gristle for a sandwich. Should be advertised as a bad knife-and-fork sandwich. And lastly, the entire staff was so aloof that it had the vibe of one of those half-hearted hotel restaurants that exist soley for the bar. The only positive experience was the appetizer pretzel.
Food was wonderful . Atmosphere great. Drinks delicious.would recommend it for any occasion
An amazing brunch, every single person at my table loved what they ordered!
The food wasn’t that good. My carmalized cauliflower was sour. The ambiance, the cute monogram napkins, & designed menu makes you think the food will be better than it is. Husband ordered NY Strip and thought it was too chewy. 2 people ordered Hot Friend Chicken and thought it was good.
In general there are other places that would deliver a better meal for the same price. This might be better as a happy hour location than a special occasion meal or night out.
Outstanding food from appetizers to dessert, everything was YUM, our waiter was the best, highly recommend Barrel & Bushel, fun foodie restaurant!
Toilet was very messy and nasty, the bathroom wasn’t being attended very well.
Great family dinner after holiday shopping. Beer, mule and food were excellent.
It’s hard to draw a complete impression of any restaurant on a day like Christmas. But if you’re open on Christmas, you should be prepared to offer good food, well served, at a decent price. Barrel & Bushel failed us on all counts. The meal started well enough with drinks served by our pleasant server, even though they were out of the wine my wife ordered. But that beginning was overshadowed by poor service, poorly prepared food, and high prices. The servers brought out my wife’s main dish, followed by my daughter’s about 5 minutes later. After another 10 minutes, mine arrived, but it was not what I ordered. My wife’s salmon was drenched in miso, and my daughter’s cod was bland and oily. Both were accompanied by the world’s largest, toughest stalks of broccoli. Finally my fried chicken and French toast arrived. But it was greasy and unwieldy. The price for this event approached $100, before a tip. We might return to Barrel & Bushel if it were the only place open, but probably not.
The fried chicken was dry, the service slow. But the Smith Island cake was delicious.
We went to Barrel and Bushel for Christmas dinner. The food was really delicious. The waiter was slow and not very friendly. We were having dinner with some family members who we don't see all of the time, so it was OK for us that it was slow service. Had we been there for a normal dinner it would have been maddening.
We were sitting in the dining room area. There is a door in that room that leads to the outside. People can exit, but not enter from that door. It was extremely cold when that door was opened. They should have not allowed that door to be opened on such a cold night.
So, basically, it is a nice restaurant with good food. Don't sit by the door if it is a cold night. And hopefully our waiter was not representative of the normal service.
I went to this restaurant for Christmas dinner (12/25/2017). Overall, the food was good, the view of the restaurant was nice, but the service was absolutely horrible. I initially greeted my waiter with "Merry Christmas," he then stated "I don't know how merry it is because its my first time working Christmas." From there, the service just went down hill. He didn't provide additional utensils as I asked for. He forgot to provide additional drinks as I asked. He didn't provide all of the food I ordered until I was half-way finished with my meal. The waiter's final pathetic stunt occurred when he gave me my bill and it was approximately $81. I gave the waiter a credit card with the bill and when he returned, I noticed he charged me for $90. I checked my initial bill again, which was the last of 3 receipts, and I realized he over charged me. I asked him to execute the charge again for the correct price and not the additional $9 bucks he added in, probably for himself I assume. If you go to this restaurant the will be good but be mindful that the service may suck.
