It was outstanding! Food was delicious and service was excellent. Ambiance was perfect for a quiet and romantic evening.

The menu and food was great. Service and flow was poor. Way too much time between courses and in the end the waiter who had not checked back with us in a timely manor after delivering us desert options apologized upon arriving back to take our order but we then found out the desert we all wanted was just recently SOLD OUT.

We will go back and try again because the food was great but table side service and flow will have to be much better if we are to return in the future.

My husband and I went here for my birthday and were extremely happy! We moved from a very food-forward location to York/Lancaster area, and have been missing the restaurant scene. We found this on a whim and can't wait to go back! We got Fois Gras, Tartiflette, Lamb Shank, Bœuf Bourguignon, Creme Brûlée and Molten chocolate cake. It was all delicious! We even stopped in the bakery and got 7 pastries to go as well. They also provided free macarons as a birthday treat. The waiter, Christopher, was kind and helpful! So happy to have found a phenomenal French restaurant not too far from our new home!

This restaurant has some of the best French food I have tasted. Not only did I have the best escargot in my life there, but the drinks were balanced and strong! The pastries are fantastic, edible & delicious art. You won’t regret stopping by.

This was our 2nd time here. Once again we enjoyed very good oysters. The server (Timothy) was excellent and incredibly accommodating in allow us to share (2 plates) our Caesar Salad and 2nd drink. An early dinner evening time and $$ well-spent.

Excellent as always. Celebrated our 41 anniversary a little late due to Covid closures.

We’re still under the thrall of government-mandated lockdowns, so the ambience of any restaurant is poor. But we were happy to return to our favorite restaurant for another delightful lunch. I tried the tomato bisque soup and am glad i did — excellent!
Of course, any trip to Babarets is incomplete until dessert, and they never disappoint.
Babarets is a real treasure in the heart of Lancaster County. May it continue to survive and thrive (once all the nonsense is over).

Our special place for lunch. It is a comfortable, friendly ambience. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. So sorry it had to close because of our crazy rules here in Pennsylvania.

Great hidden gem...Food was amazing! My husband and I had our wedding anniversary dinner here and they went out of there way to gift us some bake goods in a personalized goodie bag :) Very thoughtful.

The food was delicious as we have come to expect at Barberet. Everything is impeccably served and perfectly prepared. And this time the service was amazing. Kayla was friendly, engaging, and paced our meal perfectly.

Great food. Might go back tomorrow.

Food was excellent and atmosphere was very nice. Our waiter was very apathetic. Didn’t seem to want to be there. We bought a $100 bottle of champagne and he never poured another glass, he never asked if we needed anything, didn’t tell us about the specials of the day. I had to ask. It’s a shame because the food was really great but his last of interest and no personality made it not a great experience. The other waiter was completely the opposite. He was highly attentive and running back and forth to the bar making drinks too. We wanted to tip him for how hard he worked and not leave our waiter anything. Sad but true. We will try again cause the food was good good but service a zero n

I picked this spot for my birthday, again....I often rely on the chefs choice for the meal....meaning, I normally pick the specials. I ended up with the pasta and complimented it with the dark n stormy.....we ended the meal with the meringue....which is not a fav of mine, but I tried something new! Service was exceptional, Timothy was great. since it was in the peak of Covid, the place was empty...we were 2 of the 8 diners there, which was cool, but I like to be around people. I frequently refer this to family & friends, however, the veg menu is quite limited.....

Wonderful menus coupled with a knowledgeable and attentive staff. Bistro Barberet is one of Lancaster’s gems.

Staff made all attempts for safety. There was one heterosexual couple that refused to have masks; management - NOT SERVICE STAFF - should have addressed them.

The food and service was first class! Everything was cooked to perfection!

Great experience for our anniversary! Aside from the special occasion, we always enjoy oyster night. We also appreciate the safety measures that they’ve been using.

Food wasn't authentic at all. It's like an American trying to good French bistro food. French bistro food is slow cooked food, and this was pre-cooked food from earlier that they just added a sauce and put everything together. I would stick with ordering the foie gras and a couple of starters and not any of the entrees. Their desserts are excellent however, as was the service and ambiance.

Took a long time to get our meal.

The food was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. The hostess was not welcoming and came over to my table to tell me that that our table was reserved for another party although I was still drinking my scotch. It was 8:15pm and clearly no one was waiting to be seated. Additional tables were available. I was surprised by her lack of customer service.

We went on election night. There were 3 other people besides our party of 2. Our server was super, food was excellent, and we had a wonderful evening. Can’t wait to go back.

Such a great dining experience! This was our (me & my husband) first visit and we were very impressed & looking forward to coming back. Barbaret had many Covid precautions in place: limited guest capacity, socially-distanced tables, staff wearing masks & gloves, and we observed staff disinfecting tables, menus, etc. between each party. Menu was extensive & didn't seem to be limited with Covid - I know this has been a disappointment for us at a few places recently, but not the case at Barbaret. We had the flatbread appetizer, bouillabaisse, and veal schnitzel, plus 2 cocktails. Everything was delicious and portion sizes were very good. Total bill (excluding tip) was shy of $120, which we thought it was worth it for the excellent food and following/exceeding Covid precautions. Also grabbed a "snickers" pastry from the bakery to eat at home - SO GOOD!

Always a great meal with excellent service....always made to feel at home! Winter menu is back with some great old favorites and some new offerings as well.

We drove over an hour and are ready to do it again. The food was fabulous and very nicely presented. We brought home some of those gorgeous bakery desserts. Cannot wait to return and bring friends.

A friend and I spent a small fortune here on a decadent French brunch - foie gras, champagne cocktails, and of course, a floating island dessert! Money well spent and no regrets!
