Food is always good and friendly service. It’s my go to place when I want to take an out of town guest for dinner.
Had a nice table facing the Paramount and Downtown; the blue lights set the mood properly.
A hidden gem- love the food here and that is not loud and noisy like so many other restaurants these days!
It’s my 5th time at Blu and each time has been excellent! The menu is diverse and the food spectacular. Fun views of the theater district. Great place to go before a show!
We picked Blu from a yelp review before a trip to the theatre, food and drinks were excellent, ambience was beautiful!
If your looking for a great view this is the place. We looked right down washington st.
BUT your really paying for the view and not so much the food. We informed the waiter that the Lobster Ravioli in our tappas app was cold and he did nothing. The swordfish was cooked well but very bland. Expected more.
We were seated promptly at a table at a window. The restaurant is small, but seating is not crowded.
Waiter was attentive but not intrusive.
Two of us has the swordfish. The piece of swordfish was good sized and served hot. The lobster mashed potatoes were excellent, who knew that was a tasty combination. Entrees were $30-$35, which I felt was more than reasonable.
I would definitely go to dinner at Blu again.
Started with a drink at the bar overlooking theatre, great views. Bar staff was excellent and the drinks were perfection.
Ordered the tapas platter for an app: 2 lamb lollipops, 2 lobster ravioli and 2 haddock nuggets with a chili sauce. Enjoyed all 3.
I had the seared scallops over lobster risotto which were perfectly seared. Very nice entree overall. My husband had the duck with spinach/veg gnocchi. Although the temp on the duck was cooked nicely(mid rare) the duck was sitting in some juices in his plate so the crust on the duck got soggy and rubbery. He was really disappointed as he was looking forward to his meal. We ended our meals with cappuccino and shared the mini bomboloni which was tasty, the highlight being the vanilla bean ice cream in the dish. The service was adequate.
Consistently and quality. I’ve been going to Blu frequently when we go to see a show T the Boston Opera House and I’ve got to say I’ve never been disappointed. With all the choices for dining in town I will continue to count on Blu as a standard favorite. Great menu, service- I’ve had the same great waiter every Thursday I’ve gone- he gets everything perfect.
Great food, spectacular view. Close to theaters so a good pre-show spot. would go again!
The tuna tartare was room temperature, largely flavorless, with a stale, unusually fishy odor. There was no detectable hint of the capers and wasabi that were described in the menu. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive, but the food was either poor or mediocre. The room could be a pleasant place for a pre- or post-theater meal if they would just hire competent chefs.
It was not worth the price. We were sat at a tiny table near the kitchen, which was loud and busy. Chicken was overcooked, not enough marsala sauce and kale was undercooked. It took the waiter a long time to deliver and clear plates, even though we told him we had a 7:30 show to make. My husband's salmon skin was soggy.
Went for a pre-ballet dinner Saturday night. Everything was spot on. Highly recommend.
We love this place! So quiet and peaceful and the food is amazing. And it's steps away from the theaters and the Opera House. Great restaurant. And the servers are so nice.
The restaurant did not match its promotions. More than a fine-dining experience, felt like a cafe house for quick bite
Have a been here multiple times seems like things are going down hill a bit in terms of service. Food is still good and a good value if you don’t care about the service
Good waiter! Excellent food. Special occasions for sure.
Visited Blu before the ballet. Seated with a fabulous view of the theater district. Server was gracious and attentive without being intrusive. Rack of lamb outstanding as was the short rib special. Nicely paced meal completed with sufficient time to enjoy the pre-show activities of Boston Ballet.
Went to Blu before the theater. Once we found it on the 4th floor the ambiance was very nice. We had the beet salad and both had the rack of lamb. The salad was ordinary and the lettuce a bit wilted. The lamb was cook perfectly to medium rare. The reduction was tasty, but the dish lacked flavor. It was a bit boring. Nice, quiet place at very reasonable prices.
Always great food and service.
Friendly, attentive waiter
Good to have vegan option and kid menu
This place is beautiful! I always avoid coming to the theatre district due to the nightmare parking situation but this place is so worth it! (Not to mention, they let you park at the garage literally right next door, and validate your parking!)
I came here for my boyfriends birthday and the food and service was excellent! It’s a little on the pricier side, but the portions are pretty big, and it’s not anything you wouldn’t except from an upscale restaurant.
The ambiance is really what gets you though. The view is incredible, and makes for a great date spot.
I can’t wait to come back!
We've been to Blu several times. Have never been disappointed. This time we were with two vegetarian friends. Everyone loved what they ordered. The cod was delicious and my husband liked his steak. The tapas platter appetizer was wonderful. The space is lovely, with views of Washington Street and lots of light (considering all the high-rises surrounding the building). Service was very attentive and efficient. The bomboloni dessert was amazing. And it was all very reasonable. I highly recommend Blu.
It was a nice change not to need an interpreter for the menu as sometimes you just want a good meal without exotic ingredients that you've never heard of. Blu offers exactly that, and the food was excellent. The tuna tartare was craveable, and the scallop entree with lobster risotto was decadent but not overly so. And my cocktail was equally fantastic. I'm almost embarrassed that I'd never been there before, but I'll definitely be going back.
Food was delicious and the service was attentive and professional. It was our second time there. This time we brought friends. Would definitely go back.
Great service and food in lovely and quiet setting.
One of my go-to restaurants, especially for entertaining. Great service and dependable food quality. Always a good dining experience.
Phil was his expert and caring self providing drinks and dinner for the three of us at the bar. We love Blu. Is the perfect place to meet and catch up with friends. A unique and special ambiance that you just don’t find everywhere. And the food is excellent.
We met for small bites and a drink before a show. The appetizers and salads fit the bill. The restaurant was very accommodating when the rest of my party got stuck in traffic. Because we had to leave for the show, I ordered the tapas plate before they arrived. The plate of six morsels was on the table when they arrived and was perfect for three people. Then our orders of two salads and the taco app arrived promptly and we made it to the show on time. Swift service without feeling rushed, nicely proportioned dishes cooked perfectly. We will return. Kudos!
Blu is by far one of our most favorite restaurants when we attend the theatre! I would recommend to anyone for a great night out! Delicious food, drinks, service, and not to mention the view!! Thank you!!
Very convenient for the Opera House. Our waiter was just great. The Sancerre I had was not the best at $14. a glass. Our table was not really very nice and was in the middle of the room. Other tables were available along the window which we should have asked for but decided to sit where we were placed. The hostess was not very accommodating but as she tried to put others in the middle as well they asked to be placed by the window and she moved them. We were sitting in a drafty location. Our fault for not speaking up but even with a reservation we weren't really sitting in a good spot and the dining room was not full. It was still a decent atmosphere but cold air blowing on us.
Blu great as always! Food superb, the wait staff so professional and they work as a team!
My family and I loved Blu! My ten year old has a fascination with Boston and its architecture, Blu give us a bit of both.
Our waiter made wonderful recommendations and food was delicious! He asked when we sat down if we were going to a show and when. We had 1hr45minutes until we needed to leave for the show and he had everything timed perfectly. We never felt rushed and we also didn’t have a bunch time to kill sitting around. The food was worth the price and the view is unbeatable. Perfect for any night out but especially before a show. Made for a wonderful date night.
So very convenient to theater district. And great meal.
Reasonably priced for high-end food and service. A nice variety of well-plated dishes. Oddly situated in a health club, and accessed through a cafeteria. But once there, one would never know the rest of the club existed. Quite a feat really.
View was amazing—perfect location for dinner before a show.
Great meal, the service was wonderful. Wonderful experience.
Met friends for dinner before theater. Perfect location. Beautiful restaurant, overlooking theatre district. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was better than expected. Appetizers were creative and delicious, good portion for four of us without having to order a ton. Restaurant had a nice variety of dishes to choose from. We had fish (scallops and cod)for our main course- both were outstanding. No complaints about dessert either. All shared the warm donut w/ice cream and cheesecake.
Great pre theater dinner. A bit pricey but good quality.
