Blue Crab Grill
Blue Crab Grill in Newark, Delaware is known for offering a giant menu filled with seafood options. Though much of it is seasonal, you can always count on some items at Blue Crab Grill. For example, there is the steak and cake. You get a grilled beef tenderloin and jumbo lump crab cakes.
Another standby at Blue Crab Grill is the surf and turf. This includes a five-ounce beef tenderloin steak and a five-ounce lobster tail that is served stuffed with crab imperial. The crazy jambalaya is very popular as well. It comes with crab legs, crawfish, clams, mussels, scallops, chicken, shrimp and andouille sausage.
Seafood Chef Salad
with smoked salmon, lump crab, deviled eggs, spicy shrimp, crispy calamari, Manchego cheese and Gruyere cheese
Lump Back-Fin Crab Cakes
served one or two served with starch and fresh vegetable
lobster, salmon, shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels in a roasted garlic cream served in a bread bowl
Food was excellent, it was quiet and server was on top of things.
It is worth the drive to the Blue Crab Grill for the delicious seafood. The crab, mussels and even dessert were all outstanding. The service was very good and our waitress was attentive on a Saturday evening. The location in a small strip mall ( near a Home Depot) should not put you off of this small gem of a seafood restaurant. The French style steamed mussels, crab cakes and crab imperial we had were all terrific. Very good Key Lime pie was great for dessert. Nice wine list and bar add to the appeal of this small restaurant.
Huge and varied seafood menu.
Everything was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the drunken clams! The salmon is also delicious.
Interesting cocktails to try and a superior waitress last night.
We were also very happy to see the hostess wiping down the tables and all the menus!
We have only been here a few times but have never been disappointed in the food or service.
The pescatori and steamed clams were amazing!
Great meal, service and atmosphere!
Really good food. Reasonably priced. Attentive service.
I will eat there again.
Waitress was pleasant and timely! Food was amazing.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Blue Crab Grill this week. I ordered the filet and stuffed lobster tail and can honestly say that they both were the best that I have had in a very long time! Even the veggies were delicious!!! I would highly recommend BCG for a nice dinner out! :)
Our go-to restaurant every year on our road trip from Boston to Florida. We repeat during our return to Boston road trip. Love the Crab Imperial!
The greens on the salad weren't fresh. The seafood pasta was spoiled. When the server brought the pasta dish I did smell something bad. I thought it was the scallop (i don't order scallop so i thought that maybe it); barely touched my food and just boxed it ) Getting off the car, open the box and the smell was really really really bad. I should have said something from the beginning. I have to ask if they have bread coz I saw the other tables were being served and our waiter didnt bring any!!!
March 21, 2021 @5:00 We seated at the high table by the bar
Food was delicious!!! Looking forward to our next meal!!
Ate there on 03/19/21. Hadn’t been there in about 4 years and was very pleasantly surprised with the experience. The food was out of this world and our server (Melissa) couldn’t have been better. Will be back!
The food was delicious! ( the food is always delicious!)Had to ask for butter for our roles which came fairly quickly. Only bad things was it was the worst Irish coffee I’ve ever had. It came out room temp. I asked to have it heated and it came out so hot that it was a good 5 minutes before I could even sip it. Also it wasn’t really Irish coffee. It had a lot of Bailey’s in it. No whipped cream either.
I still highly recommend The Blue Crab !
Just had crab bisque and salad. Both were very good.
Our server was wonderful! She had long dark hair. I think her name was Michelle or Melissa.
We love the Blue Crab Grill and try to go each time we visit my son at UD. My son and I always seem to order the Seared Scallops with risotto. We love it. But if we can offer one tiny piece of advise.....it's just a bit too cheesy. The flavors are amazing but we just can't finish it because the cheesy taste just proves too much.
Otherwise, HIGHLY recommend!!!
This place is such a little hidden gem! Everything I ever order is so good. There are always very friendly servers every time we go. The booths are very well suited for Covid separation, so you feel comfortable while you're there.
Would highly recommend dining at this location. Service and food were fantastic. Plan to visit again.
I went to Blue Crab Grill to check out the seafood. I ordered the surf and turf and was not disappointed! The steak was thick, tender, and tasty! The lobster tail stuffed with crab imperial was sweet and succulent. The portions were generous. I loved the ambiance, too. It was tastefully decorated (pun not intended) with a maritime decor. Blue Crab Grill is my new go-to seafood restaurant without having to go to the beach! You gotta try it.
Our first visit, and we will definitely go back. Food was great, large portions and good service.
The owner, Dick, has maintained a high level of service, gastronomic excellence, and economic thrift. Covid-19 has destroyed other food establishments but Blue Crab Grill prevails because of a relationship of customer loyalty built on years of extreme dedication to client satisfaction. The menu items include the finest seafood delights including my favorites of calamari, scallops, fresh catch, and a chef's seafood salad that includes salmon, cheeses, deviled eggs, calamari, olives, and other tasty treats. My special interest is soft shell crabs (in season), Cajun seasoned fried fish, and varied sandwich specials. The ambiance is perfect with soft music, large, clean, bright aquariums, and cozy tables/booths. The wait staff is highly attentive and friendly: the twins have been there forever (and still look so young), Sarah is quite adroit at getting what you need even before you realize you need it and Miranda never lets a glass get empty (just to name a few). If it sounds like I am a familiar - it is so. We all are. We love coming here and we will for decades to come!
Seated at 7:40 for a 7pm reservation. No hostess. Noted that the chef behind the line wore his mask below his chin, below his mouth, below his nose...didn’t make me feel good about their COVID policies. Also, at at least 3 tables of 6 adults and a huge 10-top in the middle of the floor. Max table is 4 adults + 2 children. I get that things are tough, but you’ve got to follow the guidelines! I’d hesitate to return until after COVID is over because I just would not be comfortable, especially when there are places following the rules. Server told us they could do this because “gathering” sizes had increased. That’s private parties, not open restaurant dining.
This is too bad, too, because the food was great. We went for Newark Restaurant Week and had a really flavorful goat cheese dip, rockfish w/crab imperial and creme brûlée. All delicious. Server was friendly and sweet. Staff overall was friendly.
Jen at the bar was Awesome!
Soup was cold, tomatoes were mushy, waitress was not very attentive.
Valentines dinner, as always, Blue Crab was fantastic. Delicious food and excellent drink options. We will be back soon!
Not our first time - we go at least once a year - usually Valentine's day weekend or for my birthday. Not cheap but the food is always awesome. Highly recommend.
The portions were very small and the prices were hefty. The food itself was good but not for the price and the crab imperial was simply crabmeat nothing else. I also heard from a table next to us that they had run out of some items.
Staff n food was great
We have eaten here several times and each visit keeps getting better. The food and staff are on the top of their game.
Great place to eat
We had a lovely meal here for Valentine’s weekend. Safety precautions were in place to meet state standards - social distancing, limited capacity, masking when not eating/drinking. The food was outstanding - we got the seared scallops with risotto and surf and turf entrees. The only downside was that service was very slow. We ordered appetizers and drinks, appetizers (calamari and steamed shrimp - yum!) arrived after about 15 minutes; however, we didn’t get our entrees until an hour after we sat down. Definitely keep that in mind if you’re on a time limit for your meal. Overall, we had a really nice time, great waitress, and wonderful food. Highly recommend!
Great food at very reasonable prices. We had oysters, duck spring rolls, onion soup and steak and cake. All delicious!
Our server, Sarah, was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu.
Dinner was amazing-- every bit as delicious as the pictures show! The ambience does not really match-- it feels like a diner, nothing special. But I will say again that the food is worth every penny!
This is our go to place for seafood. Light breading always delicious. Staff is friendly. Just an enjoyable place to go
Great food. Wonderful service and good atmosphere! Never have had a bad meal at Blue Crab Grill. It is our go to place for special occasions.
I dined at Blue Crab Grill about 8 years ago and was disappointed with the food. Usually, I don’t give places a second chance. My husband thought it would be a good idea to try them again before placing on our list of never to return! So, we dined again this past weekend and the food and drinks were delicious!!!! Service from the host to the waitress was A+. I’m glad I gave Blue Crab Grill a second chance.
There were too many people waiting for take out ? As with other establishments they text or call when the order is ready.
Overpriced, drinks were not good, food wasn’t good either.
I travel for my job and enjoy going to seafood restaurants when away from home since no one else in my family likes seafood!
Ordered the crab bisque-delicious and loaded with crab.
Main entree-lobster/crab mac and cheese. Delicious, creamy cheese sauce that was not greasy. Very filling-took most of it home!
Creme brûlée dessert. Will try the cake offerings next time.
Lemon drop cranberry martini was delicious except I would not get the sugar coated rim in the future.
First time there and the food was excellent! I had the broiled crab cakes and was not disappointed.... will definitely be coming back!
