Blue Duck Tavern
The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.
*Please note that for diners bringing in wine, a $35 corkage fee (per 750 ml bottle of wine), with a limit of two bottles, will be charged.
Wonderful space, delicious food, and fabulous furniture by Thomas Moser. Highly recommend
I have eaten lunch here many times having a salad and side of chicken.. always very good. This time I ordered the short ribs... I cannot believe that the waiter didnt tell me that it comes with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING... out comes an empty plate and a pan with a slab of short ribs and nothing else!
consider yourself warned.
Excellent service and food
The food was amazing. We really enjoyed the unique combinations of flavors paired with everyday items, like pasta and chicken. We also enjoyed the unique whimsical take of various dishes.
Service was impeccable. Also the atmosphere was that of one of the highest end restaurants.
We highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.
Food was delicious, and the service was outstanding! I’d highly recommend it! Cheers and enjoy!!
Always phenomenal. Superb service. Jeremy is the man. Food is always above and beyond superb. Always enjoy coming in.
Delightful presentations of wonderful food; exceptional service by all staff - would definitely return
Family was in town staying nearby wanted to bring him to one my favorite places in DC.
Delicious food. Nothing will disappoint. The duck was amazing.
Great experience. The waiter was very attentive. We were so full, and didn’t want dessert but were intrigued by the guava and kefir sorbet, so he brought us a small taster.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time here. Our server Andria was truly outstanding! We will definitely be returning.
Great food and atmosphere! The sides were a little overpriced, but maybe that’s standard for DC. I would definitely go back!
Michael was an excellent server! My sweetie and I really enjoyed the Brussel sprouts, short ribs and duck.
We wanted a special meal for my sister-in-law who was in town visiting. Blue Duck delivered in every way!
Excellent dinner, server did an incredible job. His suggestions were all great and we enjoyed way too much! We will definitely be back.
Everything GREAT, after all these years no decline
Went for the $175 per person New Years Eve fixed menu. Food was terrible. Everything from the 1st through main courses were over salted to the point where we did not finish our plates. Waste of money. Never going back. Couldn’t recommend less.
I went there for my birthday! The service was excellent! I like the menu has Happy Birthday on it. I got the garden salad, Duck and Brussels Sprouts. It was excellent! Definitely will go back again!
I was expecting better service. For instance - when we entered with a reservation, no one asked to take our coats, however- the party in front of us were offered that service. The duck was overcooked/dry
Everything was delicious! I heard they had a great tea menu but when I asked for tea, the waiter just asked me if I wanted "black, green, chamomile, or mint." Later when my friend asked for the tea menu during dessert, he brought it over and we found that they had WAY more than what he previously offered me. Just wish I had that option at the beginning of my meal.
This is not my first time eating here, but it is probably my last; while the food is consistently very good, at the end of the night the service insults me. I understand why they are no longer a Michelin star restaurant with this sort of service thinking. If the services is going to be as insulting as Red Lobster they should probably lower their prices to be more inline with Red Lobster.
Celebrated a father/son birthday dinner at Blue Duck Tavern. Very good food and service.
Terrific service from our waiter, David. Nice attention to detail from all staff.
What an amazing restaurant! We ent for their Christmas Day feast and we were not disappointed.
The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked and presented.
Dave, our server, was attentive, polite and knowledgeable.
We will return one day!
Blue Duck Tavern is one of our favorite restaurants in DC. This was our first time enjoying the Christmas Buffet and it was absolutely outstanding! What we especially love is the upscale but casual vibe. Some fine dining in DC is a little too stuffy for us - Blue Duck Tavern is the perfect balance!
Our Christmas Merry and Bright ay Blue Duck. Everything was fresh and a holiday joy. We especially enjoyed the seafood at the appetizer station, although the foie gras mousse was a treat. The tasty entrees came with 3 equally delicious sides. The desserts were festive and the perfect way to end our dinner.
We were seated near the bar on Christmas Eve. Nothing special on the menu and service was slow. He messed up our Oder several times. Definitely not worth $$$
Christmas Eve dinner
BDT is one of my favorite places to eat in DC -- excellent and imaginative food, great drinks, wonderful service. Always a pleasure.
I ordered a cheeseburger for me 5 year old from the kids menu, when our server returned and mentioned that the oven had a slight fire and that we couldn't order burgers. Fine, so I than placed an order for chicken and waffles, but couldn't understand why my little one wouldn't eat his meal. Once we got home I warmed the meal up for him and tasted the chicken and to my surprise it was spicy! So I ask him again why he didn't eat his food and he said mommy my the food was hot and spicy. My mother also said to me the following day, I failed to mention at the resturant that the chicken was spicy and it made since to her later as to why he didn't eat his meal.
I thought that the servers sample the food at the resturants that they work for so that they can give feed back to the customers. Had I known that it was spicy, I would've NEVER ordered that for my 5 year old. So not only did a meal go to waste, but also my money.
Went for a Christmas lunch and went specifically for the burger. Turned out they couldn’t do the burger since the grill wasn’t operational. Ordered their Ruben and it was bland. Soup of the day wasn’t as hot as I would have liked. Wasn’t living up to their reputation, or price level this time.
Good for fancy lunch!
Great service. Food was subpar.
Fabulous cozy restaurant with a beautiful open concept kitchen. From the Hostess, waitstaff, and management- everyone was professional yet friendly. Every dish was excellent.
All around we had a wonderful dining experience!! Definitely will return.
We were off to an Andrea Bocelli concert & decided to have dinner at Blue Duck Tavern first. Always a treat to hand our car over to the valet, have a drink in the bar, then a scrumptious dinner. We were able to see the open kitchen from our table. I ordered a glass of red wine suggested by our waiter (from a Paso Robles winery). My great grandparents were married there so it was especially nice for me. We couldn't resist the bread basket & ordered more olive bread. The salads we had as starters were good (mine had crispy pig's ear) but we missed their marrow bones. Entrees were the short ribs & duck. Delicious! Also missing on the menu was the flaming chocolate brownie served in a cast iron skillet. We decided to settle for cappuccino. We grabbed a taxi & made the concert in time, so it was a perfect evening.
Great meal and great service
Delicious farm to table selections! We could not get enough of each dish.
Before this weekend, I had eaten at the Blue Duck Tavern several times and thoroughly enjoyed the meal each time. However, the quality seems to have fallen off a cliff. My wife and I went there to celebrate our anniversary and were sorely disappointed. The food was awful. The roast chicken ordered by my wife was dry and flavorless. And who wants to see a long claw, supposedly from a chicken, sitting on the plate next to the thigh and the breast. That’s a fine culinary experience? I ordered the short rib, which had a sauce overloaded with lemon and onion that left me with indigestion all night. Maybe there’s a reason why the restaurant has lost its single Michelin star. We will not return to find out.
Meh. Steak and duck were both way undercooked. Service felt more Appleby’s than high end restaurant. It was fine but definitely not impressed. Won’t be back.
