From start to finish, a truly amazing meal! So fresh, simple & inventive...service happy to help or not...unobtrusive, yet completely knowledgeable when asked!
Impeccable experience from start to finish: NY’s finest.
very good style food but because of the full people in the place the place was noisy little bit and the was very good overall but the veal steak it wasnt warm enough
The service and food were spot on. A delicious experience. Will be back!
Una hermoso y pequeño lugar de NYC. La comida es muy buena, aunque lo que mas agrado fue el servicio y lo agradable del lugar
Impeccable service, food, and drinks. The flavor combinations and textures were truly unique. Blue Hill staff were very attentive and gave us an amazing experience for our anniversary.
Great experience! Can’t wait to go back.
We had looked forward to going for a long time. Very disappointed. The best part of the meal was the bread. Wine had extremely high mark-up, but a good selection. We travel the world for food and wine experience, and this must have been one of the biggest disappointments. I hope the restaurant outside of New York is better
I have always wanted to try Blue Hill and a birthday was the perfect occasion. My husband and I both opted for the farmers’ feast, which is a prix fixe option with several courses of the chef’s choosing. We started with a few bites from the garden, including radishes with whipped butter and baby carrots. The chef also sent out a bite of liver with a mole-inspired crispy chocolate shell. It was delicious!
One of my favorite courses was the first one, a lobster dumpling with a delicious carrot broth. The next course, scallops with butternut squash 2 ways, was also amazing; Blue Hill works with a farmer to create a tiny and flavor-packed butternut squash and it really was significantly better than the normal size squash. I also enjoyed the beet steak very much, and the mid-meal bread course was delicious.
I was worried this would be one of those situations where you pay a high price and leave hungry, but the courses were sized well. If I had one criticism, it would be that there were too many desserts for my taste. (I completely recognize that this is a silly problem.) There was a palate cleanser sorbet, which was very good, and then the actual dessert, an homage to corn, was one of the largest courses and the weakest in terms of flavor profile, textures, general deliciousness, etc. We were also served a slice of cake for the birthday celebration and then the meal finished with a very delicious cornbread pear cake. I would have preferred to have another savory or a cheese course instead of 4 sweet items. But, I am nitpicking — it was a wonderful experience with knowledgeable staff and delicious food. I would return for another special occasion!
And I didn’t take any photos because I was enjoying the food, an endorsement if I ever heard one!
We opted for the smaller tasting menu and were pleasantly surprised with how good everything was. Portions are very small but there are several courses so we didn’t leave hungry. Service was great...my friend is on a “New Years diet” - trying not to eat carbs, sugars etc.. and they were very accommodating considering we did the tasting menu.
It’s definitely not cheap or anywhere close to it but worth the splurge. I’ll definitely be coming back with my better half.
Every aspect of this place was fantastic. The portions are small, but not offensively so, and the amount of courses ends up leaving you full and happy anyway. Each dish was presented beautifully, and each ingredient was celebrated. Our waitress was knowledgeable, sweet, and attentive. The music was excellent but not distracting. The Farmer's Feast menu lasted for almost 3 hours, but the time flies by. Will absolutely go again to see what the menu is like for a different season.
Blue hill was the most incredible treat I could have ever asked for. My girlfriend and I recently got back together after having split up for some months. This was our first time meeting up again since she moved to New York from Florida. on our last night together we decided to head over to this beautiful restaraunt. The service was the most incredibly detail oriented service I have ever witnessed. Not only is every worker very coherent and well informed on all of the menu, they are willing to stand with you and explain every detail very carefully.
Most amazing experience
Fantastically prepared farm to table food, in a quiet, sophisticated atmosphere, with attentive staff. A gem.
We had a lovely evening at Blue Hill. We both did the extended farmers feast and split a non-traditional pairing. As expected, the vegetables were the star of the show. The portions were very large and it was a fantastic value ($148 for the extended tasting). The service was excellent! The one negative was that there were some inconsistencies in the food preparation. My beet steak was better than my partner’s, his pheasant was fork-tender where mine was on the tougher side, etc. I expected a bit more in that aspect, but it was a delightful experience nonetheless
Blue Hill was both excellent in food and service. Great place for Jerry’s Birthday Dinner.
Spent over 350.00 left hungry.Plates were small, portions small, taste nothing special. Just a total rip off.
Been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and could not have been more excited. Finally got a decent timed reservation but ended up being really disappointed. The first course was a raw a raw carrot (no sauce no nothing) this is exactly what I wanted from Blue Hill, but the carrot was not better than a carrot I get at the supermarket. The food was salty and just overall not great. All I wanted to eat was amazing produce and vegetables and instead ate mediocre food.
As a sidenote, they also spent the last 45 minutes of our meal transporting things into the restaurant. I am not sure if this was for a catering event, or a prep kitchen but the door was opened about 30 times during the winter making our seats freezing and really uncomfortable.
I haven't looked forward to a meal this much in a long time, and sadly I know I wont be back
Food and service was outstanding. Each dish is super creative in terms of ingredients, flavors and presentation. Cannot wait to return!
Love this restaurant will go back again
Great experience. This is my second time dining here. The staff as always is great and the wine pairing was excellent. I also like that they are accommodating to dietary restriction. They also don't require the whole table to get the same tasting menu.
My third time dining at Blue Hill's Manhattan location, and they haven't let me down yet. I had the Farmer's Feast tasting menu, and it was superb. There was a liver paté and chocolate hors d'oevre that was a bit out of sync with the other starters, but aside from that I have no complaints. Fresh ingredients and thoughtful combinations, excellent service.
Some of the food just didn’t work...trying too hard to be creative. We’ve been a few times before, but probably won’t come again. At almost $300 for dinner, everything should be fabulous! “Juicy pulp cheeseburger” just wasn’t good!
The chef can extract the best flavour of each ingredient that is carefully selected.
I loved the scallops.
The sommelier was 5 stars!!! From the surprising NY sparkling to the perfectly times transition to the red for the meet.
It’s not cheap and cannot afford to do it often. But it was a good choice for our family special dine of the Holiday trip.
Blue Hill is fun and a good value for the price. The tasting menus are lively, and the insertion of various amuses bouche add to the experience. The food was all good, but somehow it seemed to not exactly rise to the level of true cuisine. There needs to be more actual cooking!
Amazing food and wine pairing.
We went with a party of 4 and all had the Farmer's Feast. It was delicious! From the service to the food, the entire evening was great. I've never tasted a beet steak cooked so well until Blue Hill. The portions are on the smaller side from other tasting menus I've been to but the meal still left me satisfied and content. The cocktails were great! I highly recommend this for dates or special occasion dinners as it's a cozy setting with dim lighting for dinner.
We had a great meal with extraordinary food. The efforts to be innovative weren't as rewarding with the wine pairings, but it was a great experience overall.
We had an amazing night at Blue Hill - the wait staff were attentive, helpful and most accommodating. Food was amazing - you can just taste the flavour from the freshness of the ingredients and appreciate what Dan and the team are trying to achieve. Will definitely be returning!
A delightful, sensory evening of fine food and good wine. Presentation was surprising and festive for each course and each bonus amuse bouche.
The Beet course was so wonderful. And the scallops. Our server told a vivid story of the diver going down in winter cold waters. Memorable. She was superb.
A wonderful night with family celebrating our son and soon to be daughter-in-law’s engagement.
Amazing pairings of flavors
Great quality food
Also appreciate the attention to presentation details !
My wife and I had a wonderful time at Blue hill in Manhattan for her birthday dinner. Our server Savanna was amazing! We asked a lot of questions about preparation and the sources of the food and she knew it all! We did the extended farmers feast and really enjoyed every course. The scallops were my favorite! We had gone to Blue hill at stone barn a few years ago and was happy to see that the level of service, unique food, and atmosphere are shared between the two. Very excited to go back again during a different season to what culinary adventure they have in store!
Great, creative delicious food with extraordinary service! Highly recommended!!
10 years anniversary
Squid ink risotto was incredibly salty and we weren’t able to eat, some of the vegetables were underwhelming and lamb and pork was tough and fatty. Very disappointed
Exceptional food and service. Everyone we encountered on staff was friendly and helpful. The sommelier helped us pick a beautiful wine to compliment the meal. The ambiance was classy, but not intimidating. The space was very romantic and cozy. Expensive, of course, but it’s my impression that Blue Hill Farms is one of the more ethical establishments when it comes to paying employees a fare wage. This is extremely fresh, seasonal, far to table fare. I would recommend it to anyone.
Truly outstanding in every aspect!
Went for a birthday dinner - overall, the staff was very kind and food selection demonstrated the restaurant’s confidence in farm-to-table serving. All the plates were exceptional except the main dish (beef steak) which both of us felt was quite tough to swallow. It had quite a rubbery feeling to it.
The only other thing is that the table was way too close to each other - there was one table on the side that had a lot of room and the rest of the tables were a bit too close to a point where I could hear the tables around us.
Thanks for the meal!
Muy caro para lo que sirvieron
Fabulous food in relaxed surroundings. We saw the Chefs Table episode on Netflix so wanted to visit the restaurant. We had a fabulous evening; the food was wonderful and the service excellent. We even got a short visit to the kitchen. A night to remember.
