What Insiders Are Saying
Brindille is an upscale French restaurant in River North.
Excellent in all respects
We love Brindille and have dined here several times since it first opened. The food, service and ambiance are so beautifully done and so consistent every time. It’s why we come back again and again. The setting is so chic, serene and intimate. The food is absolutely perfect. And the service is unmatched.
Absolutely outstanding!! The food, the service, everything. This was our first restaurant stop in Chicago and we can’t stop talking about how fantastic our experience was. Would recommend to anyone!
We discovered La Brindille on TV and got curious.
The place is beautiful, the staff is all smile and friendly.
The food is amazing and the wine list is great too.
Great place for a special occasion or to meet with great friends.
We will be back.
Absolute deliciousness. Every dish was incredible, and the ambiance and service were spot on. Bravo!! #therealmisterchitown
While the room was comfortable and noise level good, our particular table was likely the WORST seat in the room; Lighting was negligent and the table was "stuck in there" with no further thought than adding a table for 2. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. However, adding to the disappointing seating was the limited menu offerings. The restaurant added time to the Restaurant Week promotion due to Chicago's recent bad weather, and while that decision was likely meant to be customer friendly, it affected my reason for going. I would have booked another night, if they would have been kind enough to make reference to this on their website. I find this poor communication effort short sighted. The food service was paced perfectly, again I relate this to an engaged waiter. Overall, I didn't feel the value of the meal was there...$450 including a $175 bottle of wine...since I wasn't able to order what I went there for. [Interestingly, I/waiter had a difficult time offering a good wine in the $150 range. The wine pricing was inadequately broken down into 30% under $100, and 50% over $250??????????????] Disappointed would be the overall rating. Bummer.
We were there for restaurant week and our first time at the restaurant and to celebrate my friend's special birthday. The food and ambiance was excellent. our server Evan was rude and was pushing us to order quickly as to turn over the table quickly. I asked if he had given my husband his second glass of wine and he said he did. Than he came back to the table and poured wine briskly in his glass and said "that's on me." I eat slowly and he seemed annoyed at that. The restaurant while we were there had quite a few open tables. . What was most upsetting was that he knew that it was my friend's special birthday and acknowledged it several times during the dinner. However when bringing her the dessert there was no candle for her birthday. I think this is unacceptable at a restaurant of this caliber. I would never want him as our server!! I did report this to the manager at the desk. I would appreciate it if you would express my concerns to Evan. He needs an attitude adjustment for future customers Dr Antoinette Krakowski
Cocktails were nothing special. Service was good and my meal was delicious.
Had restaurant week menu. Every dish was perfect. Cheese plate is fabulous
Top notch! Food, ambiance, wine list and service. However, the noise was so loud at one point.
overpriced at $48 with insultingly microscopic portions. mushroom soup good. desert ok. whitefish lousy. You charge for bread! I believe the message was "don't ever come back" and we won't.
this was our second visit to brindille, and everything was outstanding. it being restaurant week, it was also quite a bargain. the oysters, the mushroom soup, dover sole, and steak frites were perfectly done. we almost never order steak frites in a restaurant, but this was above and beyond; not only was the steak delectable, but the thin-cut fries were the best we've ever had. in addition, the restaurant offered select wines to pair with the dishes; delicious and quite affordable.
our server was also at the top of her game; her service was perfect.
My husband and I love this restaurant. I took my girlfriends and they were so impressed also. A+
Everything was just excellent from the Amuse-Bouche to my Entrée.
I had the oysters..the light vinaigrette brought out the flavor of the oysters.
Lacquered duck was awesome...not too sweet that a red wine went very well with the duck. One of the best preparations of duck I have had.
I was less enthusiastic about my dessert which was des oeufs à la neige or floating islands.
I also was not too impressed with the sparkling wines as most of the cremants were not as dry as I like my "cremates".
My wife and I wnt to Brindille to try their restaurant week menu and we were not disappointed. The dishes were very good and I like the fact that Brindille also had some special wines featured for Restaurant Week. The waiter suggested a Syrah from Washington state that was excellent. It was a great evening out with my better half. I look forward to our return to Brindille.
We always enjoyed our dinners at Naha but had never been to Brindille. This restaurant week we decided to give it a try. We thought the food was excellent but we missed not having a warm crusty french bread with our meal. Just like Naha we always enjoy the wine bottle specials, though the bottle we had contained a lot of sediment. The busing staff was very attentive. Maybe, for some special occasion we might like to try the tasting menu.
The portions are small—more suited to lunch than dinner—although the food is tasty.
A must try in the city! The food is fantastic and you can taste every ingredient and it's freshness. We went for restaurant week so we got to try a lot of dishes - from potato puffs (trust me on this one) to a mushroom soup to a tartan to duck - we loved every dish. Wine menu is amazing - ask for recommendations!
We had a wonderful experience at Brindille this weekend. The food, service and atmosphere could not be better. We were warmly greeted by the manager, Rob, who clearly loves his restaurant and wants each guest to feel welcomed and satisfied. Our waiter, Evan, also made extra efforts to make our dinner special. His recommendations were spot on and he was a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth. The chef is clearly hugely talented. Everything that the four of us ate was sensational. This restaurant is a gem and I see no area that could have made our experience better.
Food was excellent. We went for restaurant week. Service was Ok. Not great. Not outstanding. Tried to get our waiter's attention multiple times with no success. He actually only approached our table 3 times. Twice to take our order and then to give us our check. Portions were on the small side. Not really worth the money. I left hungry. Very disappointing!!!
Excellent flavoring of food and sauces, wide choice of fantastic dishes, awesome service, especially sommolier. Perfect.
I reserved a seat at the bar, but asked if there were any tables when I checked in. The hostess said no. Then a woman and her friend sat next to me at the bar about 5 minutes later. The hostess approached them and asked if they would like to sit at a table instead. I was dumbfounded she didn't ask me first since I was there first and had specifically asked for a table, while the women next to me had not asked for a table. Then a large group came to sit at the bar and they sat on both sides of me so I was in the middle of their large , boisterous group trying to enjoy my dinner. It was uncomfortable and awkward, and not the experience I expected at Brindille. The food was delicious, but it was disappointing and difficult to enjoy in this atmosphere when I was expecting a quiet dinner.
Loved everything about this restaurant! Can't wait to go back!!
Brindille is an excellent restaurant with a french flavor. We went there for our first time during restaurant week and loved it. The food is outstanding and the wine list is superb. We had the duck and the whitefish, and both were excellently prepared and presented. We loved the service - very informative, helpful and attentive. Excellent place for dates and special occasions.
Yes, the menu is perfectly diverse and all dishes were wonderful. Special recognition to our server. The kitchen got a little behind give the crow due to Restaurant Week. He acknowledge this and rectified the situation right away. Well done!
Small, intimate place. Sat by the window with a great view of the city. Owner was down to earth and helpful. Server was so light hearted and knowledgeable of the menu options. We went for RW and were not disappointed. Def will be returning!
Impeccable service, Outstanding French cuisine and a delightful dining experience. Bravo!
Evan was a great waiter! Happy to have found this restaurant on a night away in Chicago. Wonderful cuisine and atmosphere. Good deal that we were there during restaurant week too
We arrived on a very cold, snowy night in rush hour and were 20 minutes late for our reservation. No problem, we were almost the first people who made it there that night. Brindille took excellent care of us. We took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu for our first trip there and the food was excellent from the complimentary potato beignet to the last bite of the delicious dessert. Service from the wait staff was excellent but I never was able to catch the bus boy for a second glass of water. I should have asked our server so I would say a word needs to be said to that layer of staff. Now that we have been there, Brindille will go on our list of special occasion places. Hurrah for restaurant week in Chicago.
I will be as factual as possible here. We had a 8:30 reservation for a party of 4, and we were on time. We were finally seated at 9:30, a full hour later. As we were handed the menus, we were immediately getting up-sold on the tasting menu as a means to speed up the process and have it be special. We agreed to it. The first item was served (steak tartare) at 10:00pm. Again, it’s raw meat, and it took 30 mins to bring out. Next came the foie which was served at 10:30. At this point, two hours since we arrived, we had a tiny bit of tartare and foie. At 11:00pm, we still did not have our 3rd course and so I approached the server and said that we are concerned about the pace and that we have a baby sitter st home that needs to be relieved of services at some point in time. I got a response which was “we are already going as fast as we can”. Not an awesome reply.
From there on, we got the 3rd, 4th and final course at 15 min increments.
To sum it up: we paid $740, for 4 people to have 5 courses, of not bad food, over 3hr15min in a somewhat loud atmosphere. I will never return and hope to save anyone else who reads this from wasting their time and their money. I hope this helps.
New Year’s Eve dinner. Perfection
Disappointed. Food and ambience were excellent, but service is too casual and too familiar that it bordered on rude. Service was really our complaint. We left an expensive meal feeling like interlopers, since our server was hanging out at the bar rather than checking in on the few seated tables. It took entirely too long between courses (didn’t receive first course until over an hour after we were seated, over a half hour after until entrees arrived) not to have the server stop by at all. There is a reasonable expectation to have food explained when dropped, and a level of professionalism severely and unfortunately lacking.
Everything was fabulous. We will definitely be back for a special occasion.
12/20/18- We have enjoyed many memorable meals here, and always the food is delicious. The wait staff, while attentive, on this last occasion was a bit too friendly and casual for our taste and not in keeping with the ambiance of this dining experience. We enjoy a certain amount of personalized attention but this was too personal, to the point we thought she might sit down and join us.
We had a wonderful holiday tea at Brindille. The server was a bit too loud, and the room was a bit too loud as well, but the food was outstanding.
My wife and I enjoyed a late Saturday night dinner after a concert this past weekend. Staff was extremely welcoming, our server was energetic, well-versed in the wine choices and menu, and clearly committed to taking care of us. The appetizers (foie gras and an autumn squash soup) were excellent as were the entrees (boneless rack of lamb, pigeon). Fuji apple dessert was wonderful. We’ve already recommended Brindille to several friends.
We had a wonderful meal here. 5 course tasting menu was fabulous, and the wine pairing Jeremy arranged worked perfectly with each course. Great food, great service! We will definitely be back! Thanks, Brindille!
I went to Brindille for the Holiday Tea service. It was just delightful. The service was stellar, food was wonderful, tea was very nice and it was a great afternoon.
Had a delightful gathering with friends for the holiday afternoon tea.
