Bud & Marilyn's
The comfortable dining room seats up to 100. The Mid-century modern design evokes the feeling of an updated rec room from the 1970's and features vintage American flea market finds from all over the country. Table seating, bar seating and chef's counter seating are available.
Bud & Marilyn's is located in the heart of center city at the corner of 13th & Locust Street in the bustling Midtown Village neighborhood.
The meatless was delicious along with mashed potatoes and carrots. The scallops were also very good, but it did not come with any sides and there were only three. For that reason it was a bit disappointing for an entree.
The food is good, the portions are enormous, the place is loud! Very loud!!
Fun atmosphere and good service.
No appreciation sensed, from host to server, even after the woman that called to confirm our reservation noted we were celebrating a birthday. That celebration was not even acknowledged. Food was average. Upon departure not one of the many employees around the door thanked us for visiting. Likely won’t visit a second time.
Great space and a simple but creative menu with a mix of comfort classics and bold flavors.
The service was excellent and the server was knowledgeable about the menu, even making recommendations when asked. The quality of the food was very good and is consistently always very good. I have eaten here many times and will continue to return.
Excellent food and retro vibe!
GREAT PLACE WILL BE BACK THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday brunch was delicious- I'll be dreaming of that giant cinnamon bun...
Excellent food and service! Highly recommended!
Excellent food and excellent service - highly recommend - lamb was amazing and the best fried chicken I have ever had.
Great experience overall! They care about their customers and their food, and it shows! We'll be back.
Love it...food was great. Get the cinnamon bun delicious!
We had a large party of ten for brunch. Staff were above and beyond accommodating when some of our party was late. We never felt awkward or rushed which can sometimes happen in this situation. Food was wonderful -all our out of town guests loved it!
Cocktails were great and big pours. Appetizers -- cheese curds and cinnamon roll were amazing. Entre was great too. Will be back for sure !!
Great food, service and quick seating! Best fried chicken around! Local craft beers were fantastic!
An overall 4 out of 5. Food and service is always good though feel the menu could use a little change up. Unfortunately for me, the noise level is always a problem: I cannot hear who I'm sitting across from but do hear every word from the table of 4 next to me because they're trying to talk above the noise.
The salad was over seasoned to the point of being inedible. The entrees were mediocre. The noise level was high making conversation difficult. This might have been a bad night for them.
The wait staff that great and helped us decide on a fun and tasty variety of food to share among 5 people. Love coming here!
Bud & Marilyn's never disappoints! The food, the drinks and the service was excellent, as always.
Service was perfect, great value for the portions.
The food was to die for... we tried a lot.. the fried chicken.. the scallops.. the short rib stroganoff... but the funfetti cake (that LOOKS LIKE it is going to be too sweet to eat) was the star of the show. And the Lakeside cocktail! So good. Can't wait to go back.
Thoroughly enjoyed their biscuits and gravy, replaced the sausage gravy with the mushroom gravy & it was SO GOOD. Server was patient, kind & attentive. Recommend making reservations on the weekend.
Enjoyed a fun, creative Sunday brunch in this busy, bustling spot. Server was charming, competent and knowledgeable about ingredients and each dish. So many choices. The lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries were a big hit. There were terrific twists on traditional breakfast choices. The decaf coffee was flavorful and hot.
I love this establishment. The food is always delicious and top-notch service. I’ve be there dinner and brunch and was completely satisfied. I recommend it to all my friends that visit Philadelphia.
Great time. We will definitely be coming back.
Overall this was a great experience. Our server was so kind and helpful the entire time. It was a little loud and the music at one point was just a single drum beat sound over and over which was a little off putting but nothing terrible. I would 100% recommend people try it out!
Our table was ready ahead of our reservation time, the wait staff was quick and attentive. The food was served in generous portions and was very tasty. Also a good value! The noise level was a little off putting but my brunch partner and I could still carry on a conversation. I would highly recommend Bud & Marilyns.
Excellent brunch! I’d highly recommend splitting the cinnamon roll. It’s the next cinnamon roll I’ve had! The spicy chicken sandwich was also delicious. I’ll definitely be going back!
Delicious meal before the theater! Great crowd. The service is exceptional! Would highly recommend!
My meatloaf was very special. BUT, we wanted to split a salad and asked if it could be split in the kitchen. We were told, an emphatic NO. When the salad was presented on A plate and we had to ask for another. To divide the salad was most cumbersome and highly inconvenient, a large spoon would have been helpful. Or better yet, have had it done in the kitchen.
Very noisy. Food excellent
My friend and I frequent Bud and Marilyn’s before shows (Broadway Philly). We love the food and hip vibe. This time, we split appetizers. The steak tartare was the best I’ve ever eaten! The Moroccan salad was meh. Too saucy for both of us. The chicken sliders never disappoint! We love sitting at the back counter next to the kitchen. Unfortunately, I made a reservation for that space, but when we got there (even tho we were on time) they did not hold the space for us....telling us that they don’t hold that space because of happy hour. That was disappointing! It was also disappointing that the bar was too crowded to enjoy the happy hour prices. We love Bud and Marilyn’s and will continue to go there while we have a show subscription. They might want to consider a pre-show special with ticket proof. The best dish I’ve ever had is the braised short rib stroganoff!
Loved our lunch at Bud and Marilyns. The food was delicious except for the fries which were a little tasteless. Small place so I wouldn’t recommend it for a romantic evening. We were next to 3 friends and their conversation was so loud that I wanted to jump in on it. All in all, though, it was a good place for our late lunch.
Having been to all of them, I'd rate this the best of a group of 5 restaurants in the same area. You could say that cheese curds and broccoli thinly coated with falafel before frying aren't health food, but they sure were delicious. Huge portions of meat loaf and reasonable size pork chops, clever and delicious, if heavy desserts. Nice meal.
Is the Roasted Heirloom Carrot salad a gateway to the vegetarian lifestyle? If they didn’t also make delectable fried chicken, it would be. I went back and had it the next day before catching my train back to Maryland - it’s that good. They also have an outstanding craft beer list. The service was exemplary. I clearly need more business trips to Philly.
Had a great meal of interesting small plates to share w 4 of us before we went to a show. Had great service and plenty of time to make it to 730 show on Broad St with a 530 reservation.
Liked the restaurant and theme. Wish they had more gluten free.
Amazing food, inviting atmosphere, friendly and great service! Would DEFINITELY recommend the pretzel roll appetizers and the fried chicken entree! SO DELICIOUS!!!!
