   This was my second time coming here and it was just as good as the first! It is now on our list of places we must go to when we’re in Philly! We booked a reservation this time and it was nice to have the assurance that there won’t be a wait. I highly recommend getting the cinnamon roll to share, the shakshuka, and braised short rib chilaquiles!

   You go for the fried chicken - it’s a specialty. My partner loves it, and it did not disappoint! But as a vegetarian, I found it difficult to put together a meal that wasn’t either not enough food or way too much. Offering a few small plates (such as those available at the bar-only Happy Hour) would be helpful.

    Food was tasty, but my chilaquiles was somewhat disappointing because they did the usual restaurant nacho thing with a massive chip pile. Would have preferred a nice single layer of tortilla ships with the toppings more spread out. Unfortunate because this place is a perennial favorite of mine.

    The food was very inconsistent. There were four of us and we all were unhappy with what we loved many times prior. The corn came out ice cold. The fried chicken had hardly any white meat it was like eating fried skin. Two of us had the same dinner and had the same experience. The confetti cake was stale on one side. Very disappointing. This was not my first time at the restaurant. I have been there numerous times so I had high expectations based on my experiences of the past. The service was great. The waitress was very courteous and by all means a hard worker.

    WE came for the special and that's what we had. It was a steak dinner and it was excellent. And the price for it was reasonable. We got there at happy hour, and our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive and were not special. We sat outside--it was quite hot, but the alternative of sitting in an albeit cooler but raucous atmosphere was impossible. It was so loud that we'd have been unable to hear our tablelmates. Service was the slowest imaginable, although we were not in a rush...we were never asked if we wanted dessert, which has never happened before. In all, the food was delicious, and we didn't mind, but were surprised by the rest. I would recommend this restaurant only for the specials.

    We were seated outside in a covered private area which was perfect. The artichoke appetizer was special and indeed it was very special! It was absolutely delicious and I hope that it becomes an appetizer special the next time I visit. I had Marilyn's Fried chicken with biscuits (served with honey butter). It was half of a chicken and each piece had a crispy crust and succulent meat. My guest had the Fried Fish special that she declared was excellent and again a very large portion especially for the money. We did not have dessert, but I had a decaf cappuccino, which was perfect to end the meal

    Was a lot of fun as it always is. Drinks were terrific. Tuna tacos were a bit salty and the short rib stroganoff could have been just a tad less creamy. Bathrooms were not as clean as my previous bisirs but this restaurant always has a friendly atmosphere and good easy selections

    Fridays in bars and restaurants in Center City Phila are always busy and noisy. We reserved a table in a streetery so the noise was OK, different from indoors. Josh, our server, was "Johnny on the spot," with a cheery greeting, paper menus, and good information about meal choices. The food we ordered, fish and chips and Nashville sliders was very very good and the combo of the 2 items was more than enough for the 2 of us. Josh kept his eye on us and was diligent in responding to our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and definitely will return on one of our frequent strips to Phila.

    Service started out fine, but after placing our food orders, we were promptly forgotten about entirely for the rest of our time there. Food took over 45 minutes to arrive, and no one checked in during that entire time. Once the food did arrive, it was freezing cold, of course. Requests for more coffee were unheeded. Best to just skip this place from now on. It’s a shame because it used to be good.

    Bud & Marilyn’s has very generous portions. The food is prepared well and is high quality. The chef really knew how to poach an egg, which is not always the case! Our main dishes weren’t as hot in temperature as l wish they had been. The cinnamon roll is amazing and is served warm. The coffee is excellent, even the decaf. The server explained it was La Columbe, which is a higher end coffee than you normally see in restaurants. The restaurant is very loud when it is full of happy diners, and the sound ricochets around the room. So not for romantic dining. We thought the prices were very reasonable and the service was efficient.
