Wonderful birthday dinner for my son. Food & service was fabulous
Always amazing food!! This time we weren’t happy with our server. No personality. Very dry humor, too serious. Made for an awkward experience.
Wonderful experience! We had a wonderful dinner. Our server was amazing and the food was exceptional.
Always enjoy myself when I visit buddakan but i think it’s a little overpriced. The fire edamame and lamb chops are my FAVORITE.
Another awesome experience. Great food, service and location.
Great experience from start to finish. The waitress was very attentive and gave awesome recommendations!
the food and service were very good, it is very loud there though.
We enjoyed our dinner so much and our waiter Mike was awesome. The appetizers, entrees, and dim sum donuts were delicious. We will definitely be back!
Our waiter, Craig, was fantastic! Super knowledgeable and fun and friendly. We will be back again soon.
Fantastic food and service. Would go again and recommend to anyone!
We booked online and I included a note about my wife's garlic intolerance. On arrival the staff showed us to our table and handed her a garlic-free menu! That's never happened before. Needless to say we were impressed.
Buddakan has a large tabled area, plus a very nice bar at one end of the space. The chic decor and subtle lighting and furnishings all help to create a very friendly and relaxed ambience, which is perfect for sharing a special meal or drinks with friends or loved ones.
We were very pleased to have such a knowledgeable and helpful waiter who guided us through the menu, which offered an excellent choice.
We had cocktails with our starters while still trying to make our minds up about the wine.
The wine list was extensive, with fine wines from the US, plus some superb options from the major wine-growing countries around the world. We plumped for a very nice US pinot. It was light enough to go with my sea bass and my wife's cashew chicken.
After the mains, I plumped for the trio of sorbets and my wife went for her favourite: crème brûlée. In the 35 years or so we've been together she's tried crème brûlées in dozens of restaurants around the world. She's quite particular about how she likes them to be made and tells me she they have been somewhere near perfect on only three occasions. So she was very excited to tell the waiter and manager that Buddakan was one of those three occasions. The manager was so excited that she asked us to wait for a few minutes after our meal and she brought us another crème brûlée to take away with us! That was so kind of her and we really appreciated it.
Now, Buddakan isn't a run-of-the-mill eatery. It's certainly up there in price – we paid more than $250 US - for our 3-course meal, a number of cocktails and our wine. But it was so worth it. We can't recommend Buddakan enough and look forward to taking other family members there when we next return to Philly, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.
Excellent service, ambiance and the food exquisite... not too expensive
Our waiter Mark was excellent great suggestions
They were from out of ton and loved it! Was great and noise level was lower than in the past!
Always one of my favorite restaurants in Philly
Food was great, staff was friendly, and this was a great overall experience. I will definitely dine here again!
Clint was great. Warm, welcoming, and friendly.
We had a party of 5 that spanned 60 years and there was something for everyone. The teenagers really liked the food and the scene and the senior citizen also found it to be a great experience.
We’ve been here numerous times, but it had been awhile. It was nice to see the ambiance and service hasn’t slipped. The space is visually stunning and the menu is diverse and expertly planned. It was helpful to have an extensive vegetarian menu — ask for it when you make reservations.
The food was very good, but as other diners noted, some of the sides can be a bit on the salty side. The ginger soba noodles that we with my tuna were definitely on the salty side. But everything else was prepared perfectly. The Asian Caesar salad, though simple, was a great start. The Crab and Lobster dumplings were also nice and light and flavorful. Everyone really had a fun night and left very full and happy!
Overall it’s still a great destination restaurant that knows how to make for a perfect night out.
Buddakan has spectacular food. We enjoyed all food and desserts. Pad thai, black cod and tuna tataki were a bliss.
We arrived on time for our reservation and still had to wait around 15 min to be seated. The restaurant, unfortunately, was a bit too loud. It was hard to communicate with our server, though, he was amazing.
While I do recommend Buddakan to everyone, I am not sure if we would be going back simply due to the noise levels.
Overall it was great! The only complaint would be was that there was too much tempura on the King Crab Tempura appetizer and it took away from the crab. But it was minor!!
Excellent food and service.
Really nice place, awesome food and great service.
Another amazing experience at Budhakkan . Always incredible. Special dinner out with the family. Amazing service.
Amazing server and meal . Spot on ..
Mind-bendingly delicious food, and wonderful attentive service. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.
As always we’re never disappointed!!! Spectacular venue and surroundings are awesome
Our waiter was excellent, service was great. All the food was terrific except the lobster fried rice which was bland
All else fantastic
Consistently good food for 20 years!! The crab tempura is the best I have ever had!! The sea bass is delicious! I can go on & on...excellent!
First, the service was perfect... thank you! The food was very good: I loved the Chilean Sea Bass and the snow peas. The combination dumpling appetizer was very good... but I did not care for the edamame dumpling. The environment is, to me, very beautiful... clean, elegant... and i loved being in the presence of BUDDA! I am an older guy... I would have loved it to be a little bit quieter... however, maybe my sound issue was that the table next to us was two very loud spoken guys... that never stopped talking. Still, a wonderful meal and experience!
Too loud to have a business dinner, but overall a great meal!
Food was excellent and service too!
Delicious meal. My husband and I shared the edemame appetizer, it was delicious. We both had the shrimp entrée and it was excellent. We shared the lobster fried rice and we also shared the lobster dumplings. Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful. We had a two table by the waterfall and it was very nice. I also enjoyed a glass of Veuve Champagne, my favorite. Not a lot of restaurants have that selection on their menu. I love the different appetizers, entrees etc that are available.
Would highly recommend Buddakan.
Excellent. Can’t believe I have never been before. We had the bento box for lunch where you pick 3 choices and it was the perfect amount of food, so reason and most importantly it was delicious. Will definitely go back.
Buddakan is one of my favorite restaurants. The service and the food is always exceptional!
I would recommend if you don’t have a shellfish allergy. If you do have a shellfish allergy, the menu selection is small. They also can’t make changes to items (like the chicken) to make is shellfish free.
Great food, great atmosphere. Service was really good without being over bearing.
Fantastic evening out. Wine was delightful and a great suggestion, food portions were surprisingly large. Ribs and pork belly buns were enough for us but we order more to taste the food.
I'd definitely recommend this place to friends looking for an energetic night out.
Great food and ambiance and our server Brandon was subtly attentive and seemed knowledgeable about menu items. My only complaint is he didn’t offer us a dessert for our anniversary, though we ordered desserts ourselves nothing was brought out to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I noted the occasion on or reservation. But overall it was a romantic dining experience. Oh the downstairs bar makes better cosmos than the upstairs bar!
The food was amazing and the service was outstanding! The only issue I had was we were seated upstairs and there was a table of what seamed room be drunk people that were yelling their conversation and screaming things repeatedly so that kinda ruined the mood/atmosphere
