Sat in the outdoor booths. Food and service was very good. We were pretty warm in 40F weather.
We dined in an outdoor igloo. There was nice heat pumped in and good ambiance, minus the glaring police lights from the cars blocking off the street. The plastic chairs were uncomfortable and left us feeling as though we were leaning forward the entire meal.
The onion soup, lamb chops and stuffed hashbrowns were the highlight of our meal. Skip the filet. It was flavorless.
Service was good, though getting a beverage refill was tough throughout the evening.
Everything was almost perfect. Outside seating was great. Warm, enough intimacy, and comfortable. Service was excellent. Our waiter Chris was perfect. Only negative was that I asked for our steak to be Medium but it was almost rare. If I’m paying $300 for dinner at a steak house, I think the steak should come out exactly how you ask. All the food tasted great though. Black truffle butter definitely worth the extra $.
The food was excellent and the service was also excellent
The food was as good as any high end steakhouse of this caliber. What struck us the most was the sidewalk dining. Honestly I was expecting to feel an occasional cold breeze blow through which is not what anyone wants.
A+ on the construction of the table/booths with HVAC!
It was so warm we had to close the vents...not like one of those propane heater things.
Food and drinks were what I expected.
Did not expect such a comfortable “side walk” dining experience. Thank you!
superb start to finish. we dined outside in the little cabins. it was charming, warm, and entertaining including an ongoing street dig.
Excellent experience and great food!!
Given the COVID-19 restrictions and having to eat outside on a busy street in downtown Philadelphia, the restaurant did a fantastic job. Staff was extremely courteous, attentive and professional. Seating environment was warm and intimate although a little noisy due to ongoing repair work under the street near the restaurant.
This place provides outdoor seating that are seperated and has forced heat...Dinner for 2 ran a little over $170....Caesar Salad delish
Porterhouse w/sauce amazing...Shrimp were large and fresh...mac and cheese pretty good...Baked Alaska mouth watering not to mention there biscuits are the best around.
We haven’t been out to eat in about ten months. We decided to get early reservations and do their outdoor dining to treat ourselves and our kids. What a great dining experience. Our waiter was fabulous and our meal was delicious. It was such a nice treat.
We came here after the first place we went to was much too freezing to bare. Their outdoor seating was cozy and easy to forget the cold. The food was amazing as usual, as were the biscuits. Our server was super sweet, and hospitable. Definitely will return.
One of the best meals we have ever had. Service was outstanding and outdoor dining was heated and a great experience.
The food is simply fantastic. I ordered the salmon and I might say it was one of the best, if not the best salmon I had. The sauce was very elegant and unique. Cauliflower also delicious. The only con was the structure they built for the pandemic, it’s not as fancy as other Starr restaurants and the heater was not working properly and it was pretty cold!! Counting the days when can have indoor dining again!!
Absolutely wonderful. Great tasting food with sufficient variety.
We always have a good experience at Butcher & Singer. This year it was definitely different but still very enjoyable. They have outdoor enclosed seating with heating that helped the comfort level to the extent possible. Our server, Chris, was spectacular given the cold he had to endure just to make our experience great. The food was good and warm, still not sure how they did that given it was freezing out. We dined with our coats on and huddled together but it felt like a bit of normalcy for New Year’s Eve.
New Year’s Eve outside - great experience due to the circumstances. Tables are small so it gets cramped with plates but everything was delicious ! Has heat but one side is open so towards the end of the meal I was getting cold !!
Food was not good.
One of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. Food is perfect. The service is excellent and, despite sitting outdoors, the atmosphere was comfortable.
It was my husband and I first visited and I must say everything was what we expected and more I great please to dine. During Covid
Considering the crazy Covid circumstances, Butcher and Singer provided an amazing dinner! Eating outside in December in Philadelphia is not easy! The food was amazing, and the wait staff was incredible! Definitely worth the trip, even in these trying times!
Despite the covid outdoor dining restrictions, B/S has made the best of a difficult situation. The outdoor heated "booths" were fine, but certainly not like dining in their beautiful room inside. Service was attentive, but at times, rushed. Valet parking would really help this crowded venue, but fortunately, on-street parking was actually available. I'm pleased that they are at least open. They made a nice effort to celebrate my daughter's birthday, having read the Open Table note from me to provide a candle in a desert. Very nice overall experience for a special occasion. (Not for the budget-minded, but fair for what you get)
Had a great time and even better food. The cocktails were excellent as well!
everything was nice! the waiter was the best with drink suggestions. My only wish is that they carried A1 steak sauce lol
Great restaurant. Fantastic service and excellent food. Porkchops and the stuffed hash brown were great.
Even with only outdoor dining open during Covid the experience here was amazing. Excellent food and excellent service. Covered outdoor dining that felt very well isolated from those around us with great decor. Would definitely dine here again for a special occasion.
The service was great. They have heated, covered booths on the street. It was a good experience.
Amazing. Great service, very kind and professional. Food was timed perfectly and tasted amazing
With Philly's restrictions, we were forced to eat outdoors so the noise level was higher than we'd have liked but not the restaurant's fault. I had the Oyster's Rockefeller and thought they were a bit too basil-y for my taste. The lamb however, was fabulous.
Great steakhouse with superb food & service. Dined here in mid-December 2020 & the heaters & outdoor space were well set up. Some of the wine-by-the-glass prices are stupid ridiculous (e.g. $38 per glass for Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Cabernet where the bottle sells locally for $55) but the menu has more reasonable alternatives. Highly recommend.
Outdoor seating is comfortable and warm.
We came for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. We had our newborn daughter with us, and the staff was SO wonderful about making sure we were seated some place comfortable. Our waiter, Alexander, was so nice and helpful. The food was incredible and we both had a wonderful time!
We had outdoor dining and the set up was very nice. Would be nice if they had some pretty ambiance lighting becomes candle on table
Only reason we didn’t give five stars is because the family next to us, at 930pm, we’re really loud and their 9 or so year old was having a full blown tantrum our entire time while the parents fought or took calls loudly and ignored her tantrums but didn’t correct her. Which was very distracting and annoying.
The food was okay
The wine - white moscato to die for
The service outstanding
Ricky was great!
Richard was the Best! Thanks for a great dinner, good food and nice wine.
Generally love STARR restaurants (and previously had a great experience before at Butcher & Singer) but this really missed the mark. Our server was inattentive (our outdoor table was isolated and took the server a very long time to take orders and come check on us - for example, we were missing silverware and had to track someone down to get it). This was tough since we went to celebrate a birthday.
This was without a doubt the best outdoor dining experience we’ve had. Our server was attentive and friendly, the food was great and we had more privacy than if we were indoors. We were comfortable and warm. We fully intend to go back.
They did an excellent job of creating an outdoor space that still felt high-class and beautiful. 5/5 all around!
