Contemporary French
Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., steps from the National Mall, and across from Pershing Park, a national park home to the new World War I Memorial, Café du Parc is reminiscent of a Parisian-inspired sidewalk café.

Nestled between The White House and the U.S. Capitol, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the nation’s capital, Café du Parc’s seasonal outside terrace remains a trendy locale for al fresco dining by both visitors and Washington, D.C. locals alike.

Paying homage to traditional French cooking, the restaurant offers diners various culinary creations from coffee and pastries at its coffee shop, Le Café, to breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch on Sunday on its outside terrace or inside the main dining room.
Seatings are restricted to 90 minutes.

Place was chilly as if a breeze coming in from windows. The place had food on the food (fries) around our tables. The food was ok. Foie gras terrine was a tad bit tasteless.

It’s been awhile since we last ate at Cafe Du Parc. Last time we had drinks and appetizers outside on a patio and it was lovely. This time we went to a pre-theater dinner in the dining room. We were underwhelmed! The portions were generous, the food was not bad, but not special. The presentation -blah. But the prices !?@&$! If an entree is $38, it should be something to delight. Their so called “Assorted Artisanal Bread” is just a dish of 4 rolls, not different grains, color, consistency Taft you find in other fine establishments in DC. The only thing that Cafe Du Parc has going for it is it’s location. We could see a helicopter taking of the White House pad while eating our dinner. Tourists were all excited about it. So leave this place to tourists and enjoy many fine DC restaurants that provide much more memorable experiences for less.

I ordered the steak frites, medium rare. It was not only well done, but it was the texture of leather. Sure enough, I choked on a piece of the steak, proceeded to continue choking, and no waiter, manager or other person came to see if I needed. Help. I did! Continuing to choke, I arose from the table outside so not to disturb the other diners, went inside, and had to ask, while continuing to choke, for help. None of the restaurant employees was trained to do the Heimlich maneuver, so they got a security guard from the Willard Hotel to try to help. Finally, the friends I had been having dinner with, who had been gathered with me just got the car and took me to the ER. It is unbelievable that no employee came to help without prompting, and that no employee of any restaurant is not trained to perform the Heimlich maneuver. The leathery steak, which was truly overpriced to begin with, is inexcusable. The sauce was congealed and had been under the heat lamp so long it had a “skin” on top, Any restaurant with a French bistro menu ought to be able to easily cook a good steak frites dinner. This was truly inedible, and that is why I choked. Thank goodness for my friends, and for the ER’s endoscopic procedure later that night. Such a nice space, but such terrible food and frankly remarkably lax service.

Staffs at the cafe on the main floor are much more friendly. My server never came to check on me until I was completely done. I wanted more coffee in the middle of breakfast, and I finally got an attention from another server, so I asked, then she nodded, but never came or never saw her telling it to my server. Finally I asked more coffee to the busboy who came to take my dish away, then he brought coffee for me.

Delicious! Service was amazing, everything was beautiful and correct. Between the five of us, we had pancakes, waffles, eggs and meat and an omelette. It was quick, waiter was helpful and there whenever we needed anything and most important, we had our family time together. Highly recommend and breakfast reservation was helpful

Food was absolutely delicious. (Crab cake, Turbot, Beef Bourguinon, Vanilla Napoleon, Chocolate clementine tart and creme brulee) However, service pretty poor - waited ages for someone to take our drink order. We specifically asked for a bit of time to enjoy our glass of champagne before starters, but then champagne, bread and starters all arrived at once. Food was put in wrong places on the table and when the waiter switched the plates he knoched the champagne glass. We were handed the check without being asked if we wanted coffee and given the distinct impression that they wanted us to leave so they could go home (restaurant had just closed at 10pm). Ambience - we'd popped in to book the table a few days earlier at lunchtime and it had been busy but we ate on Sunday evening and the restaurant was almost empty so a bit lacking in any atmosphere and I also felt as quite cold all evening - so much so that I kept my scarf on. In their credit, the waiting staff remembered it was our anniversary, which was lovely, and brought us a special additional dessert, on the house

Our server was excellent. Very attentive from the moment we sat down until we were finished. Answered all questions regarding gluten with entrees. The Turbot was excellent. Would highly recommend it. Only change I would make would be to use slightly less dressing on the Caesar salad. Otherwise would highly recommend this restaurant.

Disappointing…. I mean a restaurant at the Willard Intercontinental hotel is suppose to be good, no wait, it’s suppose to be great but the reality is far from it. The steak was obviously USDA choice at best, it was awful, the fries ( right out of the frozen bag) cold, the Martini I ordered was ashamed of itself. They even asked me if I wanted my Martini on the rocks and they brought it out on a regular glass and not a martini glass. The desert that looked like something from Costco was awful and did not resembled what was described on the menu. Worst of all they brought it out while my daughter was still eating and basically try to take her dinner plate away . It is shameful and the hotel should really consider closing this restaurant do complete haul-over. Yes…. It was that bad

After having stayed at the Willard and experiencing all of its grandeur we expected the Cafe Du Parc to be equally spectacular. We had the worst escargot ever! We’ve never had to pay for bread at any restaurant let alone such a supposedly upscale restaurant and the food was served cold and raw. Worst dining experience ever!

Cafe Du Parc is located in the Willard Intercontinental hotel, a well maintained historic building in downtown DC near the White House. The Cafe is beautifully decorated in French cafe style, with both indoor and patio seating. The indoor room is well lit where the sound level is bright. The menu is mostly traditional French favorites. My lunch salad nicoise was served with tuna tartare and a light seedy mustard vinaigrette. The staff is attentive and the prices reasonable for the location. My check with tip was $28.

We started with the escargot which was heavenly. My husband had the beef bourguignon which was delicious extremely tender. I had the seared turbot which was wonderful. The turbot was just added to the menu and I would highly recommend it. It was a very mild fish expertly prepared and the roasted veggies and carrot purée paired well with it. For dessert we split the Napoleon. It was so good my husband wanted to bring another one home! Service was impeccable.
