Birthday! It was amazing I loved it!
After Sitting and ordering Wine and a Meal. A mouse decided to join us at our table. Due to time constraints we stayed. No apology from the manager. In fact the manager NEVER came over.
Nice space and delicious food. Would definitely come back!
Very fun brunch spot! Service was terrific and the light and cheery atmosphere made morning feel especially lovely.
Food was good for the price. Quick service and quiet atmosphere on a week night.
Great lunch. Surprisingly quiet on this cold day.
Cafeteria is always amazing. The food and drinks are consistently delicious and the service is always fantastic as well!
The food is way overpriced. The quality of service and food has gone down since I lived in Boston last year and ate here around 3 times. Whatever you do don’t order the scallops, they are so tough and over cooked. The salad is underdressed and costs $12!! 12 dollars and it’s so disappointing! Also they charge $6 for a Pepsi which is absolutely insane. I have dined at many high end restaurants and even they don’t charge $6 for a watered down Pepsi. It was my birthday so we had plans to stay for dessert but after the very underwhelming first courses we had to get out of there. Our server maybe checked on us once during the entire meal so we could never really talk about the food and get that sorted. Oh and 1 salad 1 soda and 2 entrees cost us around $80! I have never written a review before but I had to write this one... so overwhelmingly disappointed in this place and it hit extra hard because I was there to celebrate my birthday. Please do better cafeteria, I expect more from an overpriced Newbury street restaurant.
The Boston Cream Burger is the best burger I’ve ever had and it’s all I ever get there.
Wait for outside seating was a little shambly, but once we sat down everything was perfect!
Service & atmosphere were delightful for a late afternoon meal. The quality and presentation of our entrees was excellent & overall a very good value for our selections. We will definitely return!
The server was unenthusiastic nor apologetic due to my entree not being made as I requested. The music event was great, very good music.
A bit cold inside the restaurant, but delicious food!
We were in Boston to visit a couple of colleges and some friends who live in the area suggested this place for dinner after the tours. Great recommendation!
Just okay. Salads were average, quesadillas were so spicy you couldn’t taste anything but chipotle. Zero atmosphere inside and we couldn’t wait for an outside table. With all the great options in the area can’t quite say I’d go back
Service was la king. Took 45 minutes to get eggs and pancakes. Was maybe 20% full. Had to flag waiter down for everything - coffee refill, pancake syrup.
My friend and I had a lovely dinner on the patio here. The heated lamps were perfect for an early fall evening! Service started off amazing, but as the patio filled up we found ourselves waiting quite some time to close out. But onto the FOOD! The cheeseburger spring rolls are a must-try, and we loved the tomato soup. The artichoke spinach dip was great too, but I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese and that flavor is rather strong in this dish. Overall though, the Newbury St location is ideal, it's lively and fun and a gorgeous setting for good drinks and excellent food. As a Boston resident I'll be recommending this restaurant and I'll be back!
Honestly, the main thing Cafeteria Boston has going for it is the setting ; they have lots of outside seating. The staff was nice, but the food was mediocre at best. Two of us ordered eggs over medium, and they were incredibly runny. The coffee was warm at best , and that’s being generous. It just seemed like the place wasn’t well managed at all...
Pube in our eggs and a dog hanging out on the bar ? ? ?
The perfect place to grab lunch on Newbury and booking on open table is the best way to go! All meals are great and these are my favorite French fries in Boston, a real treat.
Noisy and just average food and drinks for way too $$$$
Four of us had a very nice lunch here. Food was good. Solid choice for a casual meal.
We were seated quickly, and our large party had the upper level of the restaurant to ourselves, though we would have appreciated the option to sit outside. The cocktails were delicious and the spinach artichoke dip was also especially good. Burgers were fine, but average.
Great food (brunch) and service but if you can’t sit outside I’d go someplace else. The patio is gorgeous, the inside is a little drab & dated. It’s basically a basement turned into a restaurant.
The waiters and hostesses are always extremely nice and make sure your food is perfect. Nice, relaxing atmosphere (brunch and lunch), and not too loud.
Loved this restaurant...found it by accident after downloading this app.
Was in Boston 4 nights and went twice.
Food choice is eclectic & the vib was fun.
Would throughly reccomend it.
Found this little gem by accident.
Loved the food & retro disco vib...right up my street.
Would throughly reccommend it!
Chicken Milanese was outstanding. They were out of lemonade which was odd since they feature many varieties on the menu. Server was friendly and helpful, though I did have to wait for the check for a long time.
Our waitress was excellent but the food quality does not match everything else.
Enjoyed sitting outside in this casual environment. Ordered cheeseburger appetizer and black bean/veg burger. Both were excellent.
The place is cool and very friendly. The food is good but anything besides that.
Online reservations, does not include outside, BUT you are not told this until you show up. The macaroni and cheese was $30 because we added chicken and bacon. It's good, but not $30 worth of good. The service was great.
We came for lunch during the Saturday of the heat wave and the place was pretty empty, so we got seated right away. The staff was friendly and greeted us right away. Our waiter was good and was open to taking any questions we had throughout our visit.
We ordered a Mediterranean Pizza and Garlic Truffle Fries for lunch, and a slice of Bread Pudding for dessert. Food was at our table in literally 10 minutes. The pizza was REALLY GOOD! Baked perfectly and the vegetables all blended great. The crust was also salted and soft but crunchy (big plus). The truffle fries were really good and perfectly crisp, but covered in oil which I had to dab off with a napkin. The Bread Pudding was soooooooo good and came with a scoop of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream which went perfectly together. AND the slice was pretty big so I was happy we ordered one to share.
Everything was clean, including the bathroom, and the table tops were comfortable for us taller visitors. We were actually rolling laughing cause someone had their making love playlist on that day and some of the songs that came on were definitely not for a restaurant setting LMAO! Other than that everything was cool.
Food was a huge disappointment for the price.
Pizza crust tasted frozen and artificial.
We dined outside on the patio and the ambience was fantastic. Our dinner was fresh and delicious. The food arrived quickly and just as we ordered it. Service was attentive and the prices were great for the generous portions we received. Would definitely return!
Nice outdoor scene in summer. Fun place to sit and people watch. Prices okay for the area, but since the area - Back Bay - seems to becoming a kind of Silicon Valley East, it is relatively reasonable. The food is fresh and well cooked. Portions could be a little more generous. Nice sangria.
All 4 dishes were under seasoned. Server made mistake after mistake
Friendly service and delicious food.
