Since 1995, we have been proudly serving the locals, students and visitors to Chapel Hill. A lot has changed in both our town and the craft beer industry since we opened our doors as the culmination of a business school plan I wrote my senior year at UNC. Today, we celebrate our North Carolina roots with a made-from-scratch menu focused on Carolina foods in a newly renovated building. I hope you enjoy a true Carolina experience here at Carolina Brewery and will look for our award winning beers on your travels throughout the Carolinas.

We were in North Carolina touring colleges and ate here our last night. Menu looked tasty but unfortunately the food was just not good. House made guacamole was average and needed seasoning. They skimped on the chips. Steak and frites were both overcooked and thankfully my son got the sauce on tbe side as it had a very odd taste of horseradish in it. My husband said his burger was ok but his sweet potato fries were undercooked. My other son’s quesadillas looked great with all the fixings- beans, rice etc but he couldn’t eat it because of the dead flu on his plate. Unfortunately I couldn’t touch my salad after seeing that but note their dressing options are limited and the ranch was extremely watery. If you try the beers I recommend getting a sample 1st. I was disappointed that mine tasted more like a Miller Lite than an IPA. Service was also lackluster until the manager came over to apologize for the dead fly. So bummed this was how our visit to UNC ended. 😑

We reserved a high top table weeks before. When we arrived, they said they could seat us now, but not at a hightop. So they seated us upstairs in a room with zero ambience. Looking at the next room by the window with several open high top tables. service was slow. Food was good. We didn’t end up eating much. We liked the beer.

Used reservations for the first time for Carolina brewery and that was fantastic. We were seated immediately and had ordered within two or three minutes of sitting down given that we were familiar with the menu. Food was good although not hot. Generally the table that we were sitting at was just cold. I think because we got air that was shooting through from the front to the back near the hostess desk. Service was very good. We had a new server but she did a great job and was attentive to our needs.

Always a tried and true neighborhood go to…food is usually consistent and well prepared. Like most post Covid restaurants the staff often is struggling.

Our server was more interested in chatting with the other servers than dealing with us. Took forever to get drinks, then our main dishes showed up before the appetizer and 1 meal was not even what was ordered. Appetizer came out 10 mi utes after we had finished our burgers. Then, to top the whole experience off, we were charged twice for our meal. The food was good but I’m not sure we’ll be racing back.

Six of us gathered for brunch before the Carolina/VA Tech football game. The service was very good, the ambience was appropriate but the drinks and food were sub par. The mixed drinks were served in tiny kids glasses and they tasted like water. The first plates of food came out 20 minutes bf the rest were served. The fries were ice cold and the burgers were all over cooked. It was not good. The manager did apologize and give us a nice discount to try and make up for the quality of the food. Not sure I would go back.
