   Very disappointing. We had a large party and everyone found the food really mediocre. The sides were good the Caesar salad was good. The mains were not. Prime rib was quite gristley the tenderloin was served in a very soupy polenta mash. Other mains like the pasta were not particularly good. The dimmers weren’t working so the ambience was not very pleasant. Highly overpriced for the food we got. We wondered if we didn’t get the regular chef as we went on a Tuesday night. Lots of great steakhouses in Calgary. I’m sorry to say that we can’t recommend this place.

   Very enjoyable date night. We shared family style and loved the little gems salad & tuna to start. The steak was cooked perfectly to our liking as well. Expensive, but worth it. Can't wait to come here again!

   Underwhelmed by this visit. Too hot in the restaurant, lighting was really bright. We waited 40mins for a small charcuterie and another 60mins for our entrée Ceasar salad.

   Insufficient staffing, long wait for food, stale cream puff bun. Noise made it difficult to converse. Disappointed and won’t be back. The Brussels sprouts were good and prime rib cooked as what we had asked.

    Overall experience was terrible. Very slow service, mediocre to bad food, mixed up orders, unable to pay in the restaurant as their payment system was down so we had to queue up in the hotel to pay the bill. Further, our server had to reprint our bills three times because of errors. Adding insult to injury, they arbitrarily added a 20% tip to each bill and when queried about this, our server said that it was a “management policy”. One thing is for sure and that is that we (6) will never return to this establishment and we will share our experience with others who might think of dining there.

    Tried the taste of YYC dinner experience. Although the food and experience were okay, for this price point, there are better Calgary options available. Based on my past experience dining at Charcut, I think it is fine for a quick business lunch but nothing special for dinner.

    We had the Prime Rib Experience. It was excellent! Our prime rib was a little less done than we would have liked but it was delicious. We upgraded to the Caesar Salad which was fantastic and added on an extra side. The potatoes were so delicious. And then there was the dessert. Out of this world. Our server was amazing too and attentive. We'd definitely go back again.

    Thus was our second time at Charcut. We had a very nice dinner during the prix-fixe restaurant week. We had the prime rib. It was served on charred board with roasted Brussel sprouts. The cream puff desert. Trevor, our server, made us very welcome. He was most attentive and helpful. Thank you.

    The bartender was our server and he was fantastic - very nice. Very creative - we tried some cocktails that he had created/tweaked and they were so good. The Amore de Rosa was wonderful. Food was really good seemed quite fresh - big portions.

    Service and ambience was fine. Have enjoyed dinner here a few times and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately had a bad experience on our last visit, specifically with the food. Ordered 3 items. Tuna crudo , beef tonnato, and a poutine. Tuna did not taste very fresh. Strong fishy taste and smell. We had one piece each and sent it back. The tonnato was not what was expected. The beef tasted similar to lunch meat and the dish was very heavily sauced. We chose not to have bread with the dish, that might have helped (?) but over all flavour was not what we have experienced at Charcut before. Lastly, the poutine was rubbery. In fact, putting a fork in on our first bite the entire dish came out in one big lump. Assume it sat under a heat lamp longer than expected? When asked by the server how our meal was (she had noticed we were not eating anything) we shared our thoughts. She was very gracious and apologized. Offered something else and asked the manager to come and chat with us as well. The manager was equally as pleasant. Did offer another choice or a free dessert. We politely declined and did thank her for the offer. Is a shame as previous experience with the food at Charcut has been much better. Maybe on off night? Hope the feedback helps.

    Food was great. Aside from that it was just a ton of waiting. Waited for drinks for 45 minutes at least, then super long for food and even getting the bill just took forever. It ended up being a 2 hour meal when we would have liked it to be more around the hour range. Server was nice and apologized for the waits multiple times. Then are the end it was automatically 20% gratuity which we just found kinda funny since the service side of the experience was honestly just terrible. (We would have tipped either way.) I had to apologize to my friends for recommending it for dinner, and likely won't be back.

    We ordered some dishes to share. We found the meat sirloin very chewy as well as cold along with the potatoes were also cold. For the price high we paid…not impressed! The chicken was nice and moist. The pasta was way too salty. We did enjoy the Brussel sprouts the most!!

    The server tried his best the make it a very enjoyable night but service took way to long for us to receive our food after ordering it that by the time we got it, it was cold. My friend found hair in his steak. The pasta was pretty salty. At the end of the night the bill we got had an additional meal that none of us ordered which we didn’t notice until after we have paid and left the restaurant. However, the appetizer/side dishes were pretty good. Came in a timely manner and was still warm when it was severed to us compared to our main course.

    Michael made the night extremely fun, the restaurant was great! The only qualm was that a different server got a bit of bone marrow on my partner’s dress, but other than that the night was great!

    The valentines dinner for 2 was very misleading. When booking 2 seats for the 4 course meal dinner special, it failed to explain that the 4 course meal is 4 shared plates vs each person getting their own 4 course dinner. So 4 plates total was $160? It makes more sense to order off the regular menu in that case. We were under the impression we purchased 2, 4 course meals (8 plates). Good restaurant but we were not happy with the misleading info when booking.

    We had very good service from our waiter. We ordered the Valentine’s dinner special. The portions were quite small, and it took a long time to get the main course. We both left hungry. Very disappointing.

    Had the branzino with mascarpone polenta. The branzino was good but the polenta had too much mascarpone. I missed that lovely polenta taste. The dish came with broccolini which was charred. I was able to crumble the broccolini into ashes. My husband had the prime rib. It was covered with gravy, this was not stated on the menu. The meat was okay. Would not go back.

    The food is very good, not amazing. Loved the sides (brussel spouts, poutine fries). Ricotta/butternut squash/fried sage dish superb. Spaghetti underwhelming and over sauced. Prime rib had a lot of gristle which was disappointing given the price. Service polite, friendly, punctual. The ambience has always been great at Charcut. Always a fun place to eat or drink and fairly consistent over the years.

    The meat was not properly cooked and for how much was charged and the fact that this is a meat-specialty restaurant, I was disappointed. The server didn’t seem to have herself together - she didn’t come back to offer water often enough, drinks were slow, there were missing utensils which took several minutes to get after the food arrived. I have been often during the lunch time and it’s been a much better experience.
