Cinquecento Roman Trattoria
Staff was great food was amazing atmosphere was also great
Amazing experience altogether
For the price point, we expected more. More food, more knowledge, better service. Seemed to be a bit disjointed. Has potential.
Dinner was fantastic. It was a beautiful evening to sit on the patio and we had a marvelous time!
2 1/2 hours to get our meal because our ticket didn’t print
We had an experience that virtually missed the mark in many areas including:
1. Distinctly dismissive welcoming by the Maitre d'
2 Waiting 20 minutes for our drinks
3. Waiting 30 minutes for our appetizers
4. No apology for the delay by the waiter.
5. Offer by Maitre d' of complimentary desserts, but he did nothing to help facilitate service at any of the tables.
6. The food was overly peppery -- linguine vongole without reason.
7. The restaurant was not full inside -- I counted at least 8 empty tables.
8. The meal took 2 hours and 45 minutes.
9. We couldn't wait to leave the premises, so we left the desserts in the kitchen.
N.B. - We rarely write negative reviews. No surprise - we won't return.
9. One positive -- the parking is free
The restaurant seemed quite understaffed the night we were there. We had a table of 8 people. From the time we sat down the pace was very slow. It seemed to take forever just to put a drink order in let alone actually receive said drinks. Three people in our party ordered appetizers and it took them an hour to arrive to the table. The server was no where to found to place additional drink orders or to inquire as to when entrees would be arriving.
Service was not great. Server was not very attentive, food took a long time to reach the table. Was never offered a second drink...
We were a large group and probably a bit boisterous. The staff were super in meeting our needs and keeping the evening moving. The food was great, antipasto, pasta and mains.
Yet another fabulous meal at Cinquecento!
Mostly very good, with some oddities, including the fact that they had no bread (ran out by 7:45) which happened the last time I was there as well. Also, the octopus app, which used to be a highlight, is now a dry, minuscule portion (again, just like last visit). But the pastas were excellent, including the always-popular bolognese and rigatoni. Service was great...friendly, fun, and attentive. Will certainly return, but worried there will be more negative changes to the winning formula of this long-standing favorite.
Terrible service. Took an hour for us to get our foods. They ran out of bread and bronzini (fish). Would not recommend or go back. Overall very bad experience. Took friends from out of town and I was embarrassed.
consistently great place to eat, balancing good wine, delicious food, and the ability to converse with friends. Very convenient and terrific outdoor seating.
Good food good service
Parking available for free
Outdoor indoor sitting.
Very reasonable prices. Our servers were very knowledgeable on the wines. Loved the brunch menu. Don’t miss out on the ricotta as an app!!!
Took my husband here for brunch because I’d had a great experience here about a year ago. This visit the service was sub par and the food was disappointing. They seemed really under staffed. Our food appeared as if it had been sitting out for at least 15-20 minutes before it was served to us. My husbands pasta was a little hard on top and my “fried eggs” we rubbery and actually hard/crusty on top. The yolks were completely cooked through and had a weird crust on the top....almost like a creme brûlée. Very odd! I was going to send them back but our server never checked in on us and he was so busy with other tables that I couldn’t even flag him down to let him know there was a problem. When he finally came over we were done with the rest of our meal. he offered to have them made again but the rest of my dish was done and we were ready to leave. Thankfully he took that dish off the bill but we definitely won’t be returning. Also my water was never refilled. It’s a shame because my first visit was so great.
Food was awesome. Experience was great. The only thing that I didn’t like is that the restaurant was empty and the put us at a small table near the bar. Would have preferred a bigger table especially since I wrote it was a special occasion in the reservation.
Great food great service !!
I highly recommend it ,
We went for the price fixed Sunday brunch the eggs with ricotta was wonderful, my husband had the eggs with pulled pork and beans, which he really enjoyed. The pastries were nice, the beignets and the chocolate croissant were served warm.
We had a 8:45 reservation and sadly weren't sat until after 9:30. They did offer some extra cheese plates for the wait. Kitchen was super slow and took over an hour to get our meals. The server was good and the ambiance and food was tasty, but overall a tough dinner.
Very nice for lunch. Our waiter was ourstanding, no hurry to leave. Outside tables were not open yet but looks like a nice spot for when the weather is good
Food was blah for the price. Would not recommend. The linguini con vongole had very few clams and almost no clam flavor. And it was priced at $28!! The banana torte was very dry and was more of a muffin than a torte. The service was mediocre and abrupt. Overall it was a very disappointing experience.
I had dinner at Cinquecento with a friend on a Wednesday night. My friend ordered the branzino and I had the sole, which is a Wednesday night special. We tasted each other's, so I can write confidently that they both were wonderful. For dessert we had the panna cotta which was sweet, creamy, and delicious. The sound level was moderate, but perhaps on a weekend night it might be louder. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The only issue is that the restaurant is on the 2nd floor and the bathroom is on the first floor. My friend is handicapped and this made it difficult for her. There is an elevator, but one has to find an employee to bring the elevator up and down. We did love the food and the ambience, and enjoyed our evening very much.
Although the restaurant is open until 11:00 pm, there was only one table still there when we arrived. Our waiter wes very polite and friendly, but had “checked ou” already. He was quite inattentive. The servers clearly did not want to be there. They pushed the asparagus and egg appetizers on the table. The appetizer was bland and almost tasteless. We had to ask for bread and it didn’nt taste that fresh. One person’s cocktail was not at all what had been described. our waiter took it back but did not offer to replace it until he overheard us saying it should have been replaced. We asked that the cacio de pepe be doubled to an entree size and that was fine...and delicious. We have been to Cinquecento quite a few times and have been very happy with our dining experience, but not this time.
Very good Italian food but nothing extraordinary.
Had spaghetti with white clam sauce, spaghetti carbonara, and roasted chicken.
All very good.
Easy parking which is big plus in Boston.
I went for Mother’s Day brunch with my mom. We got there early and they weren’t able to seat us at our table, so we just grabbed seats at the bar. It was great! She loved it!
We love this place, but they struggled to handle the volume on Mother’s Day. Food was worst it’s ever been. Polenta had clearly been sitting around for a bit (it was congealed together). We will definitely come back bc we’ve had so many good experiences, but this one wasn’t great.
I’ve been to Cinquecento many times and always had a great experience. This time - Mother’s Day - was a big let down. The food and wait service was excellent. The ambiance was dreadful. The hostess stuck us at a table right next to the crowded bar. People at the bar where looming over us speaking in a loud voice. At times, they were within inches of our seats. This particular table never should have been placed in this area. It seemed clear that it was jammed in there to accommodate the Mother’s Day crowd. The music was blaring at a deafening volume level. We asked twice to have the music turn down, but could barely notice any difference. It’s Mother’s Day! Families want to sit at their table and talk with one another. Why would you see a need to have any music whatsoever that competes with a family’s ability to speak with one another on a very special day?
I’ve been to Cinquecento a few times, and every time I am disappointed with the service. The wait staff in general is unfriendly and inattentive.
Was not busy but service was painfully slow. Items missing from dishes, dirty plates.
Ravioli was way too salty
The food is always delicious and presented so well. The staff is professional, friendly and courteous and the atmosphere is terrific! A very fun vibe!
Amazing - perfect experience for an intimate and fancy meal. xo
I've been to Cinquecento several times recently and I usually give 5 stars. This time around though I felt like the food was not as good as usual.
Great food but slow service much too noisy at 8pm on first Friday
Food was great, however it took over standard time to be delivered
They put up with me and my friends for nearly five hours for my birthday!
They advertised breakfast for $11.99.
When we ordered they professed ignorance about this special and said we could only order from their breakfast menu, at a much higher price.
Classic bait and switch operation.
No positive recommendation regarding this restaurant
Best place for brunch in the south end because they have lunch options (the pasta dishes are amazing!) So great if you're like me and don't want breakfast but have to go to brunch with others. :)
Really great food, excellent service, couldn’t ask for more.
