Even with a reservation, seating was slow but the scene was admittedly frantic. Once we were seated all was well, if somewhat frenzied service... but the food was terrific and overall we enjoyed brunch very much.

Horrible! Horrible! Why isn’t there an option for negative stars?!?! We went a year ago, bad experience so it took a long time to try again. We will not go back! Food is not worth the price, the wait is long and the food comes out cold. Go anywhere else!

This was my first time here for Brunch. I had the duck hash and my brunch partner had the short ribs benedict. High marks for both of these entrees! The duck hash was flavorful, filling and served in an individual cast iron skillet which made for an excellent presentation. I have always liked Copperwood Tavern for dinner and will now add it to my go to places for brunch!

From walking in a to a smile at the Host Stand, getting waters right away and being greeted by Scott, our experience started off great. He suggested the Tomahawk, we got it and loved it! Thanks, we'll be back!

We came in hungry and asked our server what could come out of the kitchen quickly. She understood, made some suggestions and was back with our food in a few minutes. Eventually we ordered 5 things off the starter menu and used that as our dinner. The food was very tasty, came quickly and the server was helpful--checking on us without bothering us. We will visit again.

Everything from the decor to the food was entirely average. Not bad, but certainly not worth a special trip. I had the filet, my wife had the trout. My steak was gristly but cooked to a good medium rare. The menu is a la cart, but when serving a steak with a heavy mushroom sauce, a bright, fresh garnish would be nice. And oh my goodness, the noise level, even with relatively few people in the restaurant, was off the charts. Sitting across from each other, my wife and i had to shout to be heard. There have to be better options in Shirlington. Next time I'm there, I'll hunt for something better.

Happy Thanksgiving Copperwood Tavern,
The service was beyond amazing, never met a staff more respectful and cheerful. As soon as I entered the restaurant, the hostess were just loving and welcoming. They gave me the best seat at the window and made sure I was comfortable. Roger our server was fantastic, made sure our order was right. We ordered the thanksgiving plate going for $26 consist of turkey, gravity, cranberry and stuffing which was to dye for. Amazing place I will be coming more often hopefully with the same hostess Frances and Jaelene and Roger. THANK YOU COPPERWOOD TAVERN STAFF!!!!

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the table we were given. I asked to be moved but there were no other options at 5:00 on a Saturday--even though we had a reservation. The table was right next to the supply/drink station. Other than that, I would go back and the food and service was good.

First time trying and surprised at how good the food was! Had the fried chicken and waffles, eggs on bbq on English muffin and then the apple pie. Amazing! Even the popcorn they bring you to start is great. We were not brave enough to try their selection of moonshine! Maybe next time!

The service was rushed, courses piling up on one another. We were still eating our salads when the entree arrived, so we sent them back and asked for new ones to be prepared and delivered in a more timely manner.
But after all the earlier rush we had to wait a very long time for dessert.

My husband and I ate at the Copperwood Tavern before going to a play at Signature. I had the duck breast, he had the rainbow trout, and we shared a order of the asparagus. The duck breast had good flavor, although some of it was a bit tough. The swiss chard and pumpkin oil and butternut squash puree were great additions to the duck. My husband loved the trout, and we both enjoyed the asparagus, which was plenty for the two of us. Unfortunately, it was very noisy, making conversation difficult.

Made a reservation for 12: 30 for Sunday Brunch and managed to get a window table -- excellent! The menu offers lots of variety and good choices. I stuck to my eating mgmt plan with an egg white omelette and got a salad in lieu of home fries on the side. Good service. The pancakes served at the table next to me looked fabulous....

A local eatery that uses a farm to table approach to its meals. All of the produce and products are locally sourced. The menu is contemporary America and the dishes are well presented and generous. My wife and I love this place and go there often. The Shirlington town center location is perfect, parking is amble and the service staff are great. Each meal starts out with either fresh pop corn from the bar or little corn muffins and sweet butter. Our favorite starters are the Lobster Lettuce Wraps (sometime also served on a crostini); the Fried Goat Cheese and Virginia Speck [to die for]; and the Venison meatballs. Favorite main dishes are the gynormous Berkshire Pork Chop, the superb Dry-Aged Ribeye, the Pan Seared Salmon, Filet Mignon and the Venison Strip ) this is clearly a meat lover's place to eat!! They have a 32 oz Shenandoah Tomahawk for 2 I haven't been able to get my wife to agree to try, but it looks amazing. Pricing is very reasonable and this is definitely worth the trip.

In general, the food here is excellent and the small cornbread rolls a lovely perk. It’s pricey, especially for wine....$9-10 for what purports to be a large glass, barely measuring 6 oz. The ambience is poor for any conversation, incredibly loud, and the bar with big tv screens showing sports adds to the noise. I think this restaurant doesn’t know whether it wants to be hangout place for the younger set, or a first-rate restaurant where people will enjoy a quieter ambience while enjoying good food at above average prices.

Used to be my favorite restaurant in Northern VA. The menu has gotten more expensive, the service has slipped, and the food isn't quite as good as it once was.

Still a great spot that I recommend, especially if you don't require metro access.

Met a woman friend for dinner. We worked together at one time. She had the prime rib with fries, I opted for the pork chop with brussels. There are issues with that little pot you serve hot water in - it has a lousy pour on it and when she used it to pour it splashed water on the table causing her to interrupt wait staff to fetch a towel to mop the table. Don't do that to your wait staff ~ that is a waste of talent to ask them to fetch towels. You should try things out before setting up your patrons. The food was tasty, perfectly done. Our waiter Jordan was helpful, attentive without being intrusive. He knew his menu inside and out. My peeve regards the pour. I ordered a glass of wine ~ the glass arrives not even half full. You charge me $11 for a glass of wine and having worked in the food industry I know there is a big mark up on booze. So why can't you give me a full glass? The decor is unimaginative. This would be fine for a chain like Bob Evans which the decor reminded me of or was it Aunt Sarah's???. Another gripe you have no control over - these damn unruly brats. The neighboring table had a slew of kids, one hit my chair and I turned around to see the brat doing cartwheels. Seriously I wondered what is wrong with the parents? I was preparing to give him what for if he did a repeat performance. Take your clan to Chuck Cheese, MacDonalds or teach them to behave in public - they were way old enough. I wondered if eating later would eliminate this kid interference. I like kids but when I am spending $65 dollars to dine out I really resent ill mannered brats diverting my pleasure from talking and dining with adults. Kids can act grown up before they are grown up!

Copperwood Tavern's decor is rustic and interesting without being overwhelming. They have an extensive menu with many options including two venison choices. For this visit I had the pork chop, which I recommend well done. It will still be moist on the inside. When it arrived it was tasty and was accompanied with a chunky applesauce. We order their sweet potato mash, which was delicious! However, I found it a tad pricy, for the price of the main course they might include the choice of one or two sides with the main course. To illustrate I awarded Copperwood Tavern Five Stars for Food, but only Three Stars for value. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to returning.

It’s difficult to enjoy a conversation when you’re seated so close to the tables on either side of you that you are an unwilling participant in theirs.
