Incredible, inspired menu from a truly talented chef and fantastic service. I love what Copperwood does as well as what they stand for (supporting local farms and caring about ingredients!) This is where I take my foodie friends and family.
We arrived in the heat of Sunday Brunch. With a reservation, we had to wait about 20 minutes, but we did have a party of 7, which was part of the reason. The food was good. I got the short rib eggs benedict, which was very good - the meat was tender with good taste. The popcorn given out was a nice change of pace from the usual bread. We even got refills on the popcorn.
The server was attentive and even offered to split our bill, which is helpful in a large group.
The server was very attentive and the food very good. I got the short rib benedict, which was filling and the meat was tasty and tender. The food the others got also looked good. I will have to go back and try some other other dishes. They give out popcorn while you wait, which was a nice change of pace from the usual break basket. Even with a reservation, we had a bit of a wait, about 20 minutes for a large group, which was not that bad. They offered to split our bill individually, which was nice for a large group.
A very pleasant experience. Did have trouble having conversation with my guest due to very high noise level. We enjoyed the good food and especially good service.
Understand the food is farm to table but perhaps we ordered the wrong items. The most popular dish seems to be the steak. We got seafood. It wasn’t as good. Fish was overcooked.
Was disappointed in the menu selection for weekends. Lunch menu was not available nor was the Gluten Free menu which is posted on your website. Brunch menu was not that great. Should have other options.
Great venue for a large group (8 people) quiet enough to talk and delicious food!
Went for the first time to celebrate my birthday. Service was amazing. For all the hype, food, not so much. Really disappointed in the main courses although the sides were excellent. Should have just ordered those. Won't be returning for anything other than brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes.
Delicious made-from-scratch food and extensive craft beverage offerings, primarily locally sourced (although "local" here has a pretty wide definition...extending to PA in addition to Virginia and Maryland according to our server's description). The service was excellent...just the right level of attention, and helpful suggestions.
Some of the "bites to share" were no really appetizers, but sides. Which is fine, but they should come with the meal, not as an appetizer. Hamburger was too greasy/fatty with the cheese and buttered toast. Also ordered it medium rare and it came medium. No pink at all.
Delicious! And adorable environment.
We went to Copperwood Tavern for our Anniversary. We made reservations, which helped because it was a busy Saturday night. The food was fabulous. We had the fillet and it was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The deviled eggs were delicious as an appetizer . We had Brussels sprouts and smoked Gouda mashed potatoes for sides, they were so tasty. We enjoyed the farm table style. The only negative was the size of the table. With four adults, sides, bread, wine and drinks, the table was too small. It felt cramped and we had to move things around every time something else came. Over all it was a wonderful dinner and a great anniversary!!
We enjoyed our visit to Copperwood and would certainly go back, though we don't go out often.
Always a great meal at Copperwood!
First time here. Nice spot for couples/dating. Craving something 'different ' and found it here. Had the Braised Rabbit and the bar hooked me up with a fruity, fizzy cocktail not on the menu. Made for a very romantic evening.
Always an excellent meal, can't wait until we go back again.
Great service from the start. We were early for our reservation, and seated immediately. Food was excellent Rib-eye cooked to order was delicious. Sides to share is an understatement, the servings were very generous.
The food was very good. The drinks were tasty. I would go back there. Excellent atmosphere for an evening out with friends.
Great food and drink. Reasonable prices.
Although Copperwood doesn't even mention its great beer selection on its rating form, that was (and is) a major draw for me. And because it has so many unfamiliar local beers on draft, it is helpful that they give samples. Food is good to very good, portions are generous, staff friendly and attentive. Noise level did not prevent conversation, even on a busy Friday evening. Dining with old friends I had not seen for awhile, and we talked a long time. At no point did staff pressure us to leave - much appreciated! Bonus: they put aside the cap I forgot - just picked it up!!
We chose Copperwood Tavern for our Valentine's dinner and it was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, the food and drinks were great and we will definitely go back again. As we headed out, they gave us roses, which was a nice touch.
We had a couple of appetizers to start our meal; the deviled eggs and the grilled oysters. Both were a delicious way to begin. For our entree I had the scallops, and my husband had the pork chop. If you are looking for value in your meal, go for the chop, my husband's was huge, he could barely eat it all. On the other hand, 4 scallops for $28 seemed okay until my husband pointed out that it was $7.00 a scallop. They were very tasty, and they did fill me up, but it does seem a little pricey for four! We were headed to the theater, and the service was perfectly timed for us to get there for the opening curtain. All in all a good restaurant that I would return to again.
This is a solid local staple with classic foods and a few more adventurous items. They are consistently crowded, so expect it to be loud and to have to wait for a while, even if you have a reservation.
Cocktails were unique and delicious. We shared the Tomahawk steak for dinner and it was AMAZING!
Great food and service. Awesome beer selection. He atmosphere is perfect for an evening out.
The mussels and the brussel sprouts were delicious. The butter chicken was a bit bland.
I made a reservation for a slower time of day (2:30) so when I mentioned it upon arrival the host didn't check. It's just it was my birthday. We were seated at a table in the windows, where the sun had softened the varnish on the table and our sleeves were sticking to it. Maybe if they can't replace them, then they should put tables with a better finish at those more popular window tables, and the sticky ones could be at a less desirable spot. Like in storage. So we moved. The server was ok. The fried green tomatoes were good, the deviled duck eggs didn't seem fresh (like the whites had been refrigerated for a while) and the bacon slices they were served on were so tough they were more like jerky. The steak salad was actually delicious! The music was kinda loud for that time of day, my father in law had to ask to turn it down. All in all, not a horrible visit but I won't return or recommend. I was looking forward to something much better. I wish I had chosen a different spot for my bday lunch.
Good solid food, interesting menu, attentive service
Great food, especially the gluten free menu! Great drinks too. The tables are a little tight but it's a small restaurant. My favorite appetizer is the Fried Green Tomatoes! We've been several times and haven't had a bad meal. It's fantastic and I would highly recommend it!
My salmon was grilled perfectly. Justin our server provided excellent service, attentive but not overbearing. I will certainly be back.
Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience at my favorite reliable brunch spot. The grilled oysters, which usually arrive at the table hot and bubbling, were browned on top but cold and raw on the inside. The quiche, which I've enjoyed several times before, arrived cold and with a thick layer of onions towards the top (instead of blended throughout as it usually is). And neither brunch mimosa tasted particularly appealing; in fact, it was hard to distinguish between the two. I hope this was a one-off experience and not indicative of a trend! I'm willing to try again. Service, however, was friendly and prompt.
Service and food are excellent. I ordered the salmon, asparagus and a rose. It was a delicious meal.
I love Copperwood!!! Its brunch menu is delicious. I especially love the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and the jerky Bloody Mary. I can take my kids (they love the popcorn) there without getting the side eye, but it is equally nice for a boozy friends brunch. My husband and I can do brunch with drinks for around $50.
Amazing comfort food, as always. Excellent service. This is one of my favorite, go-to restaurants. I've never had a bad meal here. The mac and cheese is divine, and the scallops and any meat dish is rish and yummy. Their salads and fish are amazing, too.
My favorite brunch place since their menu is vast from omelets, breakfast sandwiches, etc to soups, salads, and burgers. Price points are good and drinks are always amazing.
Excellent as always. Best brunch in town!
I have been to this restaurant many times. Lately, the food has not been the best and the service is not what it used to be.
Are they getting victims of their own success and becoming lazy?
There are plenty of other restaurants around so might be time for me to look at them.
The pancakes were great. Duck confit had very little meat and was mainly potatoes and no distinguishing duck flavor. Noise level was loud.
Copper wood amazes everytime we go. The food is unique and always excellent. Cocktails are pricey but the a complex and well made so it justifies the price.
The restaurant can get a bit loud depending on the night.
