$$$$Price: Very Expensive • Steakhouse • Mountain Brook
Had a 6:30 reservation on a Monday night. We arrived around 6:23, were greeted and seated immediately. We were there to celebrate our daughter’s 33rd birthday.
Our server, can’t remember his name, was phenomenal. Being our first time he explained the menu thoroughly and made suggestions.
We started with the hand rolled meatballs, crab cake, roasted bone marrow and half dozen oysters on the half shell. Meatballs were delicious, a must try. Crab cake had minimal filler and lots of crab meat. Bone marrow I could do without. I don’t eat oysters but my daughter loved them; she said they were the perfect size and were delicious.
Our meals:
My husband - 20oz dry aged bone in ribeye cooked medium. Steak temperature was perfect; however, there was too much char.
Me - Hand cut pappardelle. The pasta was cooked Al dente and the truffle cream sauce was to die for.
Our daughter - 8oz Wagyu filet cooked medium rare.
Sides: broccolini, Gouda fries and whipped potatoes. Broccolini had the right amount of firmness and a little kick to it. Gouda fries were crisp outside and tender inside. Whipped potatoes, nothing special that I couldn’t get at any other quality restaurant.
Caesar salad - nothing special, lettuce was crisp, dressing was good
Drinks - 2 daiquiris, glass of wine and espresso martini
Overall: pricey (paying by credit/debit card costs more than if you pay in cash), warm and welcoming, low lighting for added ambiance, attentive and friendly server and staff, food was delicious, flavorful, mouthwatering, appealing.
