This is an old riverside pub which has seen a few changes in the 60-odd years since I first visited it. It is popular, obviously well run and well refurbished after its recent flooding. It is comfortable, clean and welcoming with cheerful staff greeting you. If you don't have a dog ask for the glazed area overlooking the river; or sit outside if the weather is fine. The food is excellent on the tongue and on the wallet. The menu is varied with some good choices. The chicken schnitzel was the popular choice for our party and our different selection of starters all met with approval. The food is well prepared with good attention to dressings and presentation and the helpings are generous. I would strongly recommend dining here for the overall service, pleasant ambience and reliably good food.

This was our first visit to the Clipper Restaurant! The service was outstanding from the moment that we arrived. It was early evening and the area was quiet, but we were given the choice of inside or outside tables! The menu was not extensive but had a good choice of dishes that would appeal to many. The portions were both generous and delicious. The drinks were as requested and good. Food prices were close to local restaurants and pubs. Great eating area that allowed us to talk and hear easily without raising our voices was a welcome bonus! We will visit again 😍

We had a lovely anniversary meal at the restaurant. The table wasn’t quite ready on arrival so we had drinks at the bar which was a nice place to sit. It was very busy, lots of groups of ladies having afternoon tea but it quietened down during the time we were there, the atmosphere was really nice. Our meals were delicious, and we were treated to a brownie at the end for our anniversary which was a nice touch. The most important part to us was that we didn’t feel rushed, we had a lovely few hours together and the staff were very attentive but not over the top.
