Tucked in one of Cape May’s leading landmarks, the renovated 1879 Congress Hall Hotel, we decided on dinner at the Blue Pig Tavern, which derives from a gambling parlor in the mid-1800s. A reservation was easily made via Open Table. Upon arrival as first timers, my partner and I were greeted at the host station and got our cozy table in a large glassed-in patio area. The restaurant was lively and welcoming. It was clearly a family-friendly spot, which showed in the higher noise level and the number of tables filled with multigenerational groups. Their menu is New American, from filet mignon and shrimp cocktail to legendary burgers, including the Beach Plum Farm Burger. They get a lot of its produce from its own nearby farm. As an appetizer, we decided on the Crispy Calamari and Baked Mac and Cheese. Our entree consisted of Rigatoni Bolognese and Chicken Pot Pie. Complimentary warm bread sprinkled with salt and chives accompanied by soft honey butter started our meal. Every dish hit the mark: flavorful, fresh, and well-executed. The portions were generous. Despite being very busy, the service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and especially helpful; our server was Eugene. Overall, this establishment delivered a memorable dining experience.More infoThe Blue Pig Tavern$$$$• American• Cape May•4.6

Cheese appetizer, wine, sourdough, flank steak, and pork were all delicious and perfectly prepared. Closed off with dark chocolate espresso cake and press coffee. The atmosphere is very cozy and chill. Thank you!More infoHeirloom$$$$• American• Lewes•4.8

We love the food, always fresh, always prepared perfectly. You can’t get better fish. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. This time we got the bread pudding for dessert. We have never had bread pudding that was so light and airy. A treat! We make sure to have dinner here whenever we visit Cape May.More infoLouisa’s Café$$$$• Mediterranean• Cape May•4.7

We were even surprised with complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary, which was such a lovely touch. The food was absolutely delicious, and the moody, romantic atmosphere made the evening feel extra special. Everything came together beautifully for a memorable night. We’ll definitely be back!More infoThe Ebbitt Room at the Virginia$$$$• American• Cape May•4.7
