Took my friend for first trip to a pub for dinner. Being a Saturday night it was busy but drinks and food delivered fairly quickly. Had a great time.

Have to say I’ve never ever been disappointed with the Purty Kitchen in the last 5 years or so. Steak or seafood. I really feel all the basics are just perfect every time - but somehow no two meals are ever the same. So that’s what I came to say. This evening I had the Café de Paris strip loin. This herby buttery sauce was almost drinkable it was so delicious. Nothing on the plate but the steak, the sauce and the right amount of superfine chips - the perfect accompaniment that didn’t drown out the main event. I just loved the flavours of this meat and its sauce. I have never had a less than perfect steak in the Purty, no matter the cut. A few years ago, the chef showed me their special charcoal oven, which may be playing a big role in the execution. Elsewhere in the borough, there are speciality steak restaurants - but all offerings taste the same every time. On cost - the Purty has managed to keep prices really decent I think in difficult times. I’ll go for quality over quantity every time. The steaks were about €25 each, a bottle of vinho verde at about €33, sparking water, a pint of Heineken & tip all for under €50 a head. Friendly professional staff, super comfortable surroundings with lovely subdued lighting. Go to the Purty for steak!

100/10 - went to celebrate two birthdays. the staff- specifically Emma-was amazing, the singers, and the dancers! they brought the birthday girls on stage to dance with the dancers, the singers let one of the birthday girls sing a song, and they gifted us a dessert with “happy birthday” written on it. honestly, a highlight of our time here. would totally recommend it.
