Closest thing to Japan without the 14-hour flight!
I’ve had sushi in Tokyo and Osaka. Most places here are fine. This one isn’t “fine.” It’s the closest I’ve found to actual Japan.
The rice is right — slightly warm, properly seasoned, not mushy or cold. The fish is clean and cut with real care, not the usual “good enough for America” quality. Nothing is over-sauced or over-decorated. It’s just fish, rice, and technique.
If you close your eyes for a second, it feels like a small neighborhood sushi-ya, not a restaurant trying to look Japanese. That’s rare.
If you want sushi that actually tastes like Japan, this is the place. I’m already planning the next visit.
