Best Organic Restaurants in Teotihuacán

What a gem! First of all, from the street it is an unassuming faced but inside it is a great mix of style and antiquities being in a 16 century building with elegant modern design. Our server Aza was fantastic, with great knowledge of every dish and its preparation without being verbose, very charming. The amuse bouche was a chili nogada that set the tone, impeccable, and refined. Then came an heirloom tomato salad with a pinoles pesto, all pre-Columbian with traditional herbs and nasturiums leaves. Also had the 16 hour braised, tempura battered beef cheek donuts with a pulque jus. Second course was totoba with calabaza and frothed lime and the 21 day aged duck with a duck demi glace. I almost wept they were so good . And to top it off we had a churro with tangerine gelee and elderflowers and a queso fresca tostada sweetened with honey. Like a very delicate Mexican take on cheesecake flavors only better. Did I mention the cocktails and Aza's wine pairings were spot on? And for what we recieved it was more than reasonable on price. Easily the best meal I've had in Mexico city in half a decade. My one regret in hyping this restaurant is the possibility of it getting too hard to get a reservation next time. But they deserve the accolades!

Great traditional food, generous portions, and excellent service. Don José is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a proper Mexican meal after visiting Teotihuacán.
