The service was very slow. Drinks took about 30 min, someone else ended up coming to check on us out original server Cesar never came back he was literally just the one who took our drink orders. Then we flagged down a waitress who took our food order, and had to flag down a different waiter to bring us the check. I took a trip to the restroom and the restaurant didn’t appear to be that busy for me to be understanding of the wait times. It was my first time there not sure if this is typical or just one of those days. I had to lobster tacos and they were delicious
Staff were accommodating and brought out birthday cake complete with sparkler. A very nice surprise.
yummy... couldn't eat it all,,,, so took home doggie bags to enjoy later!
Server seemed a bit preoccupied and busy because he was behind the bar and on the floor, but he was very nice none the less! Will definitely be back and hopefully have Louis as our waiter again.
Everything started out great! Chips came right away, drinks came fast. Then once we ordered another round and entrees and more chips it took a long time. Entrees came out before drinks, and still no chips to finish our appetizer. When server checked up she realized the drink wasn’t there yet and tried to walk away however we were still waiting on other items so I then felt like I was annoying her with a list of items we needed. Drinks finally came but weren’t consistent in taste with the first round. We didn’t get dessert due to the fact that we didn’t want to wait any longer. Overall decent experience and we’ll come back but our server definitely seemed overwhelmed. Also...the marked me as a no show with OpenTable so I had to dispute that...
Complete waste of my money and time. The food was served cold, and one could easly tell the food from a pervious order was scrapped from one plate, added to another, and served. The drinks were watered down, and the margarita tasted like Kool Aid lemonade. IT WAS F-ING RIDICULOUS. The cheese on my chicken enchiladas looked like a 5 day old Elemers Glue scap. And I had to break out a jack hammer just to crack the refried beans.
The waiter couldn’t have cared less if we were there or not. It acted as if he was doing us a favor by serving us.
We've eaten here a few times. The kitchen staff is good--I find their take on Mexican/TexMex to have some nice, innovative touches. In general I would recommend this place. But on this visit, a slow and careless waitstaff took the experience down by a notch. Nothing unusual, just slow service and a forgotten "special request". One of our party was very clear about a single ingredient he couldn't tolerate; the waiter clearly understood, confirmed, and then delivered a plate covered in that ingredient. On the other hand, my "Betsy's" tamales were excellent, my wife had the 'special' tacos and enjoyed them. Bottom line--if you want excellent Mexican in the Merrifield district, the food is good but you may find the service a little inconsistent.
Despite reservation, the table was not set up. Service was also slow.
Everything was ok until the end. My friend gave me some birthday gifts at the table and the waitress said oh is it your birthday? I said yes and about 5 minuted later some waiters came with cake and sang happy birthday. That was nice but when the bill came they charged us for the cake. Well we didn’t order the cake! My friend was not happy. She put $80 in for a $65 bill and waited for her change and the waitress didn’t bring any. Finally my friend asked and the waitress got the WORST attitude it’s was actually beyond rude and unprofessional. My friend was very upset with the poor rude treatment from the waitress. This really ruined our otherwise fun time. The management needs to address this situation.
The restaurant was empty but they sat us in the way back next to the kitchen and bathroom. Waiter was good but food wasn’t as good as the last time I was there. We were disappointed.
Went there on a Saturday night. Was surprised to see that it was empty. Later found out why.. we sat at a booth and there was a leak in the sealing. (Not a big problem, we just moved over since it was a big booth and just 2 of us.) Ordered drinks and food at the same time. Food came out quickly. (Fajitas with bacon wrapped shrimp) The shrimp tasted days old. The bacon that was wrapped around the shrimp was charcoaled. I didn’t even know it was bacon at first. I took a bite of one shrimp and a greenish, yellow cream oozed out. (Gross) My beans were sour. My margarita didn’t even make it out until I had finished my food and after I reminded my server. Also, my plate was so hot the cheese for my fajitas was completely melted. Food was not worth the price I paid.
Good food but need a separate bar dedicated to drinks for restaurant. Waited 15 min for round of margaritas.
I go here whenever I’m not in a hurry because the service is SLOW! Also the salsa is good.
When we walked into the restaurant, we noticed that all of the tables were empty, and there wasn’t an employee in sight. We sat there for a few minutes until an employee, who we later realized was both the hostess and only server in the restaurant, sat us. We asked the hostess for a table instead of a booth, but when she seated us, she took us right to a booth, despite no other tables being occupied except one. Once we sat down and began reading our menus, we noticed a mouse crawling out of a hole in the booth that she was almost about to seat us at. We immediately left the restaurant. As we were leaving, the only employee asked us why we were leaving, and when we told her that there was a mouse, she said “ok”, and looked completely unsurprised.
Would not recommend or go back again. The benches were wet, we had to ask twice about getting place settings. Frozen drinks ordered were brought out not frozen, later being told the machine broke, and regular margaritas tasted funny. Two orders did not come out with the rest of party's as the waiter forgot to put order into kitchen.
Food was very average.
The food was average and margaritas seem to have little to no alcohol in them (mostly a sugary/sweet drink). Our waitress seemed overwhelmed at dinner and generally delivered very poor service - our food was brought out before our silverware, our drinks came out almost at the same time as our entrees, and we were generally not treated with a positive attitude. This restaurant may be better for happy hour but I do not recommend it for dinner.
Had a table of 8 with kids. It took a long time for the server to greet our table and take our drink order. We got our entrees before we got our margaritas. All the adults got our entrees before the kids. We sat there with our food and then had to answer four kids why they did not get their food. Still did not get our drinks until a few minutes later.
I got the perfect margarita and it was not good. I have no idea what was wrong, could only take a few drinks of it. And I get margaritas every time I go to a Mexican restaurant.
Waitress said she would take off the margarita and then did not. Food was ok. One of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. When I am in Mosaic next time, will eat at Matchbox or Ted's Bulletin. Better food and experience.
Our reservation was for a party of 10 at 7:30. Our orders including drinks were not taken until 8:30-8:45. This was frustrating and the restaurant wasn’t busy. The food was good. Almost all orders were correct. Nice patio.
Server was very nice but only checked on us a few times in 2 hours, happy to have relaxed service but not slow. Water was brought initially but not once was refilled. Seemed to be lots of servers were not really doing much. After meal asked for check, waited, went to hostess stand to ask for it and waited, asked again and finally received it.
The service was super slow, the margaritas were watered down, the music way too loud, and the bathrooms very dirty.
Delicious and vibrant scene, especially for 5 de Mayo! Loved it!
Cinco de Mayo is my girlfriend’s birthday and she always wants Mexican! So with that in mind I chose this place since they are one of the only places accepting reservations on that day. Food was slightly above average but service was struggling to keep up with us. We aren’t demanding and we keep to ourselves...it felt as though we were forgotten about at times and we nearly walked out since we couldn’t even get the check for about 20 minutes. The price is above average so I might give another chance to try the service again but it’s definitely nothing special yet.
The food was great as always. But the service. Oh man. It's like they didn't even care. 20 mins for drinks and silverware? And the DJ was BLASTING the music, it was overkill.
Food was ok. The place is nice we sat outside to enjoy the weather. We ate and had some margaritas, we wanted to hang and keep enjoying cinco de maio. However our waitress keep asking if we wanted anything else to eat and even the check after we said we were there to enjoy and having drinks. We ended up leaving and drinking somewhere else.
Great food and some very interesting dishes. Prices fairly reasonable, but relatively noisy.
Worst Tex-Mex food and drinks I’ve had in 10 years. The service was horrible. The restaurant was hot. It put a damper on what was supposed to be a fun mom-daughter evening.
Food was great but the service was slow. I think our poor waiter had tables at the bar and then tables all the way at the back of the restaurant poor man was running all night. I would definitely go again, but would probably sit at the bar.
It was great.
We arrived for a family dinner and discovered that they had run out of Guacamole and avocados all together. We asked for the manager to find out how they were going to make the substitution as 80% of their menu items either have guac or avocado in them. He didn't really have an answer.
We ended up leaving without eating and went to El Tio's down the street. It was excellent. My thoughts, having been in the restaurant business, is that I would have driven all over the area to find avocados since it is an important part of the menu. The ambiance was not great either and the music was way too loud to have a conversation. Go to El Tio's instead!!
Visiting our daughter made the Dean’s list at college -celebrating
Service was fair. There is a distinct aroma inside that is not always pleasant. It's not a food aroma and I won't describe it but I've had the experience on at least two visits. Best for outdoor seating when the weather is warm.
Great happy hour and food!
We were excited to try this restaurant because it was in a location we visit frequently. We were pleasantly surprised to get a reservation the day before (but now we know why we were able to). Upon arrival, our table wasn't quite ready and we were asked to wait at the bar. However, we could not get a drink! The bartender kept saying he'd be with us, but nothing ever came of it. Finally, we were seated.
José, our waiter, was very pleasant and attentive—he was the best the restaurant had to offer. The food he brought from the kitchen was very disappointing. I ordered a Mexican salad (labeled a house specialty). The presentation wasn't bad, but the actual preparation was lackluster. The chicken was dried out and the leafy elements (admittedly chopped) were flat and limp. My wife ordered the grilled salmon and reported that it was very dry. Neither of us finished our meals.
The prices were high—not wildly so, but higher than the experience was worth.
We will not be returning.
Service too slow. Had a reservation, but couldn't seat us. No offer for free drinks or apology. Bathroom unclean leading us to wonder how can the kitchen be clean. Food was just typical Tex-Mex. No need to return. Wasn't terrible, wasn't great.
They always give us a terrible table.
House Margarita could have been stepped up otherwise a nice after movie meal.
food came quickly and cold. Waiter was a bit out of it.
The service was marginal. Drinks were not refilled. It took quite a long time to get our meals and it was not a busy night. The food was marginal at best. Fairly bland and tasteless. It was crusty from being left under a heat lamp. Finally, we ordered the jumbo margaritas, thinking we would have big drinks. The glasses were big, but there was so much ice that I’m not even sure the jumbo added up to 8 ounces of actual drink. All-in-all, it was marginal evening.
