I reserved an outdoor table for 5, when we showed up they didn't have a 5-person table available outside so we sat around a 4 person table with 1 person on the corner. The waiter did not know the menu at all and so we had to repeat our order over and over while he stood confused. My silverware was dirty with full chunks of food dried to the fork. It was not busy and felt frustrating that they advertised Mother's Day Brunch and then we went and had a poor experience when it felt like other parties that didn't have reservations had better outcomes. Won't spend another occasion here.

It was good, but nothing outstanding. The classic margs tasted "watered down." The poblano pollo was fine, but not enough seasoning - which is rare in Mexican restaurants. The queso was good, but the fried tortilla chips we were excited about were slightly less crisp than they should have been - prob from the humidity. The bathrooms were messy -- TP on the floor in several areas. Just no one paying attention it appeared.

I enjoy this spot. Food is consistently good. Salsa with the chips is great, nice and spicy. This time I got the vegetarian relleno. It was ok, not my favorite dish as it is just stuffed with cheese and spinach but I still enjoyed it. Would have liked more vegetables or beans inside to give it a bit more to it. Sauces on top are awesome. It is filling too! Next time would just select something different. Husband got the pollo poblano and enjoyed it. Just a great date spot that’s not overly expensive or fancy but still is a fun vibe.

Queso fundido is one the best in town. Don’t forget to finish off the jugo that’s left in the pan - super rich and tasty. Top shelf margarita on the rocks (The Perfecto I think) was drowned out by lime juice - couldn’t drink it. A splash of agave is all it needed to be truly perfecto.

I’ve had one of the poorest experiences you can have at a place. I call the day before to see if you could order off the main menu during brunch in which I was informed yes. Once I get seated we’re handed brunch menus only, in which I ask the waiter to get a regular menu and the waiter tells me “no it’s only brunch menu until 3pm” It’s 2:30pm, I inform him I called ahead and was advised otherwise and the response was “not sure who told you that”, which was a bit rude. So now it’s 30 minutes until 3pm and I’m not in a mood for eggs. So I ordered guacamole and chips and departed. No attempts to make a Situation right, and zero exceptions where made. I was so excited to try this place and unfortunately the service itself left a horrible taste in my mouth. Most if not all places allow you to order off the main menu during brunch. This place did not advertise brunch menu only etc..

Would love to come back again as El Chile was one of our favorites, especially when it was still Yuyo. Friday nights have been a little below average on the food quality/taste - I’m sure it’s tough to manage the increased traffic from UT/Moody, but I also had El Chilito down the road recently for breakfast and it was great! Looking forward to giving it another shot soon.

Our waiter couldn’t have cared less about being there. He appeared to be put off when we asked about an ingredient in one of the dishes. He’d walk by table and ask if they needed anything but would keep walking and not pause if answers. Also, olives would be nice to have to garnish the Mexican martinis with.

Went with a group of 10 people for a bday party. Service was great and staff was attentive until the end (we were there from 2-4), not sure why our table was not completely cleared at the end of our meal? Maybe short staffed? But food and drinks came out quickly-so no complaint. I ordered the pollo pablano and marginal at best, sauce lacked flavor and the chicken breast was seasoned when it was put on the grill so all I could taste was the grilling. Also was warm and slightly cold. So, really a “meh” sort of dish considering it was a specialty dish and compared to what others ordered-ie puffy tacos, posole looked good. And I have definitely had better margaritas. The frozen sangria/regular mix was too sweet and their rocks wasn’t sweet enough.
