Great food/attention to our table. Restrooms definitely need some attention though.
Wonderful lunch at elm
Afternoon tea was festive and fun. Creative interpretation of a traditional tea—we were wowed by the food and presentation. Service, as always at Elm, was spot-on.
Such an amazing lunch, service was impeccable! Great food, excellent service, perfect atmosphere! Will highly recommend to others!
This place never disappoints! The menu is fun, the dishes impeccably prepared and beautifully plated, and the service is excellent (if not always cheerful). The only issue with our amply-sized outdoor table on a lovely Tuesday afternoon was the din of the garbage and delivery trucks passing by.
Afternoon Tea outside was such a relaxing treat watching the world stroll by….I highly recommend.
Service here is always meh. The staff has zero training, we always wait at least 30 min to place our order, and it’s just consistently bad.
It was a double date for my husband s birthday. The food was absolutely delicious, topped by our waiter who went above and beyond, he made our night with seamless service and happy vibes and little surprise candle and cookies at the end of our dinner.
Had a great lunch.
Really looked forward to coming here, so definitely let down by the overall quality of food. I had the Branzino, my husband had the Smoked Chicken Bowl, and we shared the Pork Bao Buns to start.
Nearly everything described was ok, not great and definitely not exceptional. I have no problem paying a premium, but expect high quality and can honestly only rate this meal as middle of the pack. Won’t be going back as there are much better places for the price point.
We were told that we could only get an 11:30 table for lunch and when we arrived awe were the only people in the restaurant. The music was blaring and after half an hour of sitting there we had to get up and ask for a waiter to come. The waiter came to take our food order, before anyone had asked offered us drinks. After lunch they offered us coffee, without asking if we would like dessert. We asked for the dessert menu, and they brought the coffee first. The staff was disinterested and disorganized and the restaurant interior looked tired and worn. I would not go back. Elm used to be excellent and stylish. This was not
I got together with an old friend from out of town for lunch. The food and setting was great.
Wonderful happy staff and delicious
Everything was great; due to the crowds, it was pretty loud for a regular conversation - that was a negative, and initially we sat for a good 30 min before we got a menu. But the food was terrific and overall it was a very good experience!
This was our second dinner at Elm in a week. Both times our water glasses were never refilled during the meal. In addition, Our empty pre-dinner cocktail glasses sat on the edge of the table throughout our dinner. Many servers and bus staff walked past our table several times and not one of them noticed the empty glasses lined up along the edge of the table. Elm has elevated the dining scene in New Canaan with the food they put out. The wait staff needs to be trained to match the excellent cuisine. We appreciated the complementary birthday dessert. One other observation is likely out of the restaurant's control is that many of the patrons looked like they just rolled out of bed and came to dinner. Ratty t-shirts and sweatpants were the chosen articles of clothing to wear to arguably the most expensive, nicest restaurant in New Canaan. This is just unfortunate. But we'll be back!
The first courses were amazing. Grilled little gem salad was indeed a gem. Grilled artichoke was good too. I like the way the tables are separated by glass. You feel socially distanced but still part of the whole scene. I recommend Elm St to all.
Amazing food as always! So nice to sit outside and people watch and enjoy the food.
Honestly the food is always great and the service is even better! It’s a very sophisticated restaurant that makes you feel welcome and comfortable without being snobby or stuffy. Very cool chic plates and the room just has a great vibe.
It’s always great for friends, date or families. It’s feel like a NYC restaurant but without all the drama.
Major disappointment at the start of my birthday weekend! Our waitress was very kind and sweet to start off with but then grew absent and we barely saw her. Every question we asked was like asking her to some major activity. The tea was nice but while nice was not enough food at all and not worth the value. I’d go back and try regular menu items bur don’t come here for afternoon tea. It was a major disappointment to start my birthday weekend.
Elm was the perfect lunch spot on a beautiful Spring day . The staff were friendly and courteous and the food was beyond delicious.
Afternoon tea! Sat outside in the shade. Device was great. Fun to do. Citrus tea was delicious. Crab sandwich was good, the others sounded interesting but were average. Portions are smaller than other teas I’ve had but that meant they were not overwhelming!
Food and service are always amazing! Love the pork belly’s on menu. Gladys and the rest of your employees are exceptional.
Tea was delicious..... just the right amount of tasty treats, both sweet and savory. I hope they continue this Friday afternoon tea. Elm never disappoints!
I have dined here several times and have been generally pleased with the food, service and ambiance. The lobster cobb was good but not at all worth 39.00. The service was fair, we had to keep looking for our waiter to get another drink and the check. They may have had an off day but it was disappointing and my guest had never been there, did not make the impression I had hoped. I will give them another chance but I hope this is not a new trend.
We are so lucky to have Elm Restaurant right here in our town! From its beginning, Elm has had some of the best food around, and has always delighted us with its fine staff and ambiance. Excellent cocktails and wines do not hurt at all! We'll go back again and again...
Back table is beautiful and lots of room. Amazing food. Service could have been slightly better.
The tea is
Service was terrible. We waited almost an hour for our lunch and then they came out at different times. Food was mediocre at best. Very disappointing.
Terrific menu and outdoor dining spot in New Canaan
Elm is our favorite place in town!
Best restaurant in New Canaan
The food was delicious. Service was attentive but not overly so.
Fun and delicious drinks in a great atmosphere. Unfortunately the food is not as good as the drinks and very expensive for small plates.
Love the new afternoon tea experience at Elm! So clever and well executed, from the tea blends and champagne selections, to the sweet and savory tea sandwiches, scones and macarons. 😍
FABULOUS experience... in fact we went back two days later for the same fare....the Lobster Cobb Salad which is a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best by far in service quality ambiance
Great to see one of our favourites busy again. Great food with their classics plus some new additions on the menu complemented by great cocktails and service. We need to treasure this place.
Everything was excellent. Will definitely be back.
