Emmer & Rye is a restaurant designed around the farmer’s haul, featuring a menu that changes daily with a focus on seasonal and local cuisine.     Overall an amazing experience. The wagyu beef tasting menu was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Kudos to the line chefs and complements especially to the dessert chef for inspired dishes.

    The restaurant has a very nice ambiance, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable but the food was a miss. The cod was dry, and the pork was incredibly dry. Several lackluster dishes.

    We thought it was quite good. The space is pleasant, the servers are very nice and well informed. The menu is small and didn't have a ton of options that we love but the things we ordered were generally good. We liked the pastas better than the main dishes and one main was delivered cold. They removed it from the bill which I think was the right thing to do. Portions are small but everything is nicely presented and we had a nice evening overall. We'd go again.

    Food was absolutely fantastic. For a party of two we chose five plate to share. Oysters, Crudo, zucchini, bread, service, and grouper. Each dish was very thoughtfully prepared for taste and texture. Did not try dessert but they look delicious. Restaurant is beautiful modern but not over the top and inviting and it’s in a great neighborhood on rainy street. Once you are done with dinner can take a stroll to any number of bars with live music. Highly recommend.

    Service was great, the cocktails were delicious. I just wish I could say the same for the food. The only highlight of the night was the Cacio e Pepe. It was perfectly seasoned and it’s no wonder why it’s the staple dish for the restaurant. The other dishes are very weak. $15 for a smoked sliced zucchini is not what I was expecting it was. The $25 tartare was bland. When you have a dishes with 4-5 ingredients you need to make sure everything is properly seasoned.

    This is our third time at Emmer and Rye. Since the menu changes often, the food was a bit uneven and even bland this time. Some of the combinations were weird. However, the sourdough bread was outstanding, and the chocolate potato chip dessert was unique and tasty. In its attempt to be different, the restaurant can be hit or miss. The staff seem very eager to please, and the music is at least 70's and 80's music at a noise level that permits tables to converse.

    The dishes were excellent and showcased a wide variety of ingredients, techniques,and flavors. We also enjoyed the wine and cocktail selection. Kudos too, to Isaac our server!

    Over the top. We had the maize dinner. Every dish was amazingly inventive, many of which were like nothing I’d ever had before. Not your normal dinner experience. Next time I’m in Austin, this is at the top of my list!

    Of our 5 dishes that we ordered, we only enjoyed two. The other three all had something wrong with the flavor and worst of all both of us got sick after which we suspect had to do with the fish. Really disappointed in the experience and can't really recommend it to others.

    Overrated place and overpriced food for mediocre service.Ordered the caccio e pepe which was dry and had no flavor then the pork dish which was all chwwy and full of hard inedible cartilages. Just bad food all around. Impossible to hear what the other person at the table is saying so had overall experience.

    This was one of the worst meals I have had in a long time. 6 people at a tiny table, took 3.5 hours to eat a 3-4 course meal. It even took on average 30 minutes to get another bottle of wine! The only thing more horrible than the food was the service.

    We sat at the Chef’s Counter and it was such a perfect choice. The entire staff was incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and friendly. Our drinks were great- Summer Abroad, Take Me Out (May be the wrong name, but tequila cocktail), and two Old Fashioneds. We chose to do the 9-course Maize menu 🌽 and WOW was it a fantastic choice. Such a well-crafted and delicious combination of foods all with corn in mind. Sarah was a wonderful waitress and it was so fun chatting with Chef Max throughout our dinner. Highly highly recommend this restaurant and their specialized menu. Thank you for such a fun night with my mom!

    Food was amazing, service was very good as well and the ambience was energetic but not overly loud. Cacio e Pepe was good, Tajarin was even better and the pork plate they have is amazing as well.

    The food, the service, and the atmosphere was truly amazing. It’s one of a kind unique experience- where the focus is on quality and not quantity. We ordered 4 items between 2 people. Trosi Cantaloupe, Sourdough Bread, Cacio e Pepe, & Eggplant- all vegetarian. Each of the dishes were exquisite. Will definitely go back.

    Absolute gem - a nice reprieve from the more typical Mexican/BBQ/Tex Mex offerings in Austin (not that those aren’t delicious). Great ambience, chefs stopped by our table to explain their process/dish that we asked about. Highly recommend

    We couldn’t get in this popular spot and waited until Sunday night to finally check it out. It was well worth the wait - outstanding food and cocktails! We did the seven course tasting menu that was corn themed - sounds a little odd but was absolutely fantastic. The waygu tartare was incredible. Highly recommend

    Extraordinary! We've been wanting to dine here since early in the year. Couldn't make it happen until this past weekend, since we do drive in from out of town. So much worth it. The staff, from the Hostess , servers, managers, cooks, (they have a whole army), all have genuine smiles and radiate a joy and pride to serve what they produce. Kudos to the whole Team. The Sourdough! The Cacio e Pepe! The Berskshire Pork! Great Gin cocktail for my wife. Good Wine by the glass selection for the rest of us (Would have wanted more options but the ones they had were fantastic). Music level was maybe just a tidy bit too loud for our comfort; but they had The Smiths and similar genre playing, which was perfect. No Dress code enforced. Its Austin, right? But crowd did not disappoint and kept it classy but laid back at the same time. One last advise: they have a self-grown Herb garden in the front which you can see from your table. It needs TLC. Would enhance the view and the experience. But that's just us trying to help the place be even better. Overall, we can not say enough good things about them. Our Guests were floored by the experience. Definitely will come back, towards the end of the year when we return to visit Austin.

    The food was absolutely phenomenal. Servers were enthusiastic and courteous. Sommelier was knowledgeable and we were able to try some new wines that paired well with the food. So glad we chose Emmer and Rye!

    Brook was fantastic. Extremely attentive and nice. The Chef was so gracious. Both wished us a Happy Anniversary and the host table did too. Chef brought us out a few of our courses and explained them. We loved that. We really enjoyed watching him keep a watchful eye on the whole restaurant as well. Laser focused in his Birkenstocks. We loved the whole experience. The dishes were so creative. They hooked us up with an extra desert cus we weren’t sure between two of them. Above and beyond. Thanks y’all. I’ll bring my mom back in here in a couple months. ❤️
