Best Romantic Restaurants in Golden Lane

I booked Chequer Lane by Jamie Oliver for my boyfriend's birthday but accidentally selected the bar seating option. When we arrived, I was so annoyed at myself because I really didn’t want us eating our birthday dinner at the bar. One of the staff members noticed I was a bit down about it and asked what was wrong. When I explained, she immediately went to check what she could do. Even though they were busy, she moved us downstairs into their absolutely beautiful, separate private dining room since it wasn't occupied at that exact moment. The decor and ambiance in that room were stunning! Our server downstairs was equally amazing- friendly, attentive, and provided 10/10 service. The food was spectacular (I ordered the duck and highly recommend it!). To top it off, the staff thoughtfully brought out a little complimentary birthday dessert for my boyfriend without me even asking. I am so grateful to the team for turning my booking mistake into an unforgettable celebration. Impeccable service from start to finish, thank you so much!

Absolutely outstanding evening, right through from my initial booking and the flexibility around menu selections, on the evening our server was very attentive and made sure we were well looked after, and with the added unexpected surprise of live music - a thoroughly enjoyable evening. If I could give you 11/10 then I would!

We celebrated my birthday here on Tuesday, September 29th, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The restaurant boasts a beautifully intimate and cozy ambiance—we were seated at a fantastic, comfortable table that set the perfect mood for the evening. The staff truly stole the show. They could not have been more accommodating, attentive, or knowledgeable, especially when it came to guiding us through the wine list to find the perfect pairings. As for the food—everything was exceptional (and a special shoutout to the bread, which was downright amazing!). Our only minor note would be on the pacing of the meal. The courses arrived in very quick succession, and we would have loved just a few more minutes between dishes to linger, chat, and let our food settle. That being said, it was a stellar evening. We will absolutely be back and cannot recommend this gem enough!

The service was absolutely exceptional and our meal was delicious, both for breakfast and dinner. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Wilde.
