Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

Named one of 20 Best New Restaurants in America for 2024 By Bon Appetit! In a distant European city, Fabian and Miriam vanished into the Alps, trading their city lives for mountain solitude. Once busy young professionals, their days were consumed by demanding careers, their rare weekends cherished for dining out and dancing, occasionally venturing into the mountains. But destiny intervened when Miriam inherited her grandfather's Alpine hut, nestled amidst the rustic charms of the mountains. They cut ties with the city, forsaking it for good. Days were spent farming, foraging, crafting cheese, and making wine. Nights brought cooking, baking, wine-drinking, and stargazing.Friends from the city visited, but Fabian and Miriam never looked back. They were drawn deeper into the mountains, caught in the Alpenrausch's dual meaning—the exhilaration of mountain air and the intoxication of good company, fine wine, and schnapps.Come experience Alpenrausch!

Great view from our window table. Terrific meal and drinks, served well by a fine young lady who pointed out that -- not knowing how to eat my King crab legs -- I was leaving half of the meat of a dish that was costing me $130! She swiftly took it to the kitchen to have the meat removed from the shells so that I had a wonderful meal (with butter too) at home the next day. Bless her heart! It was a delightful way to celebrate a big birthday event (my 86th).

This is my favorite place in all of Portland. IT's just absolutely yummy. The vibe is Portland-clean. lol the roti with the squash is amazing; the mixed drinks are yummy. The waitstaff seem like they actually enjoy working there. Even though I think the portions are a little small, 10 outta 10.

We started going to Nostrana right after it opened almost 20 years ago-the service, food, cocktails and wine selection have always been excellent • Many of the dishes would fit perfectly in Sorrento or Firenze ,while others have a PNW style •all are delicious ••they have a great selection of Italian wines & Amaros and tasty cocktails-we prefer looking at the Amalfi Coast or Golfo di Napoli but Nostrana is on par & everyone speaks English unlike many other Great Italian Restaurants •it’s generally a 5 star experience in my opinion (and I’m fairly critical)Definitely worth a try if you’ve never been
