Best Historic Restaurants in Center City

My son, neice and I dined at Del Friscos on Saturday October 3rd 2026. We began with delicious drinks at the bar while we waited to be seated for dinner. The drinks were amazing. We had Tropical Margaritass, absolutely wonderful. We were promptly seated at our oversized booth with a view of everything. The music playing was moderate and not too loud which enabled us to conversate with one another comfortably. Our waiter Robbie was wonderful! He was kind, courteous and very attentive to our needs. Our meals were cooked to perfection. My son had the boneless ribeye medium rare, and my neice and I had the half chicken. We had asparagus and lobster macaroni and cheese as our shareables. Everything was superb! The ambiance was outstanding and the overall dining experience was exceptional! I highly recommend Del Friscos to anyone that seeks an exceptional dining experience. Great restaurant. we were running late because of traffic for the reservation. We needed to make the 730 show. They were wonderful to us. We had a great meal. The owner was the sweetest man. Our waiter Ori was thoughtful and kind and made sure we got out of the restaurant on time. Our credit card had been stolen earlier in the day so there was an issue with it. They were compassionate and not condescending. Of course we were able to fix the issue immediately, but it was their attitude while they waited. That was wonderful. We would definitely go back anytime.

Butcher & Singer was an excellent experience in every regard. Walking in the place, originally a bank building constructed in 1927, set an impressive tone of an old-school steakhouse. First bites of the laminated biscuits, and we knew we were in for a treat! And that Butcher & Singer oven must be hot - our generously cut filets came out with a proper Maillard crust, so dry and intense I was initially concerned they were overcooked. But one slice revealed a perfect medium-rare red center and every flavor you can imagine in between. But the most outstanding aspect of the entire evening was the absolutely wonderful service…balanced, expert and delightful! (Hint: ask for Lindsey’s table!) Our next trip to Philly will definitely include a reservation at Butcher & Singer.

Janaye, Julian, Sam were our servers and were excellent. The food was exceptional. Everyone was accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend this tavern
