Used to view The Hamilton as a backup if I couldn’t get a reservation at The Old Ebbitt. But it’s now become a destination restaurant all its own. Great food, drinks, service. Held a booth for me on a crowded evening; would go back just out of gratitude for that. More

Mexican | Penn Quarter, District of Columbia

What a fun and adventurous dining experience! We loved Chef Victor Albisu's take on fusion of many types of foods (think Mexican, Peurto Rican, street food) into beautifully displayed and delicious offerings. This is not your usual margarita and burrito place, although we had both and they were awesome. It's creative. It's beautiful. And after a little tequila it's even more fun. Other great cocktails and some beers were served with liquid nitrogen frost. Our apps and main dishes were beautiful to look at and eat - even the grasshoppers. The octopus was sublime. Loved trying new things and can't wait to return. More

Atmosphere dark and quiet like you’d expect. We only had the cheese board for food, but it was awesome! The mixed drinks are pricey, but worth it. Made with fresh ingredients. Bartenders very friendly and accommodating. Only disappointment was not getting a booth seat with reservation. We sat at bar. To be fair after booking they do tell you no guarantee for table. FYI it’s a cashless establishment. More

Letena was a lovely surprise. I’ve been eating Ethiopian food for years and it was wonderful to dine at Letena - not only is the food delicious, but the ambiance and service are fantastic too. The restaurant is stylish and elegant. The injera was very good, I kept wanting more. We had the meat sampler and chef’s special tibs - everything was flavorful and tasty. We were visiting from NY and I wish we had an Ethiopian restaurant like Letena in the city. More

Discover District of Columbia

The District of Columbia is a place where eating out can be an adventure. Caribbean, Italian, and Pakistani cuisine can be found in the area. You can also dine on classic American fare, seafood, and barbecue. Try the Jamaican spice-rubbed pork tenderloin or the steak churrasco for a taste of the Caribbean. If you plan to eat Italian cuisine, sample the gamberi, cannelloni, or the pollo parmigiano. The District of Columbia’s Pakistani fare is traditional with dishes like Punjabi boti chicken tikka, goat dum biryani, or the butter chicken. For breakfast, you might like steel cut oats, organic cottage cheese and fresh fruit, or French toast and beef hash. This is a destination where the food is almost as good as the sights.
