Italian | Glasgow, Glasgow

This cosy Italian trattoria in Cambridge Street – close to the Royal Concert Hall and the Theatre Royal - is a bonhomous place which attracts a black polo-necked, broadsheet-reading Glaswegian crowd who come to indulge in pre-theatre bowls of spaghetti and mid-week tables for two. Regulars at Azzurro have been returning for years for the impressive wine list which features wines from Italy, South Africa and Chile, and the authentic Italian cuisine. Moreish, homemade dishes at Azzurro include the penne amatriciana with smoked bacon, white wine and tomatoes; the Mediterranean fish stew served with garlic bread; and the pollo firenze – chicken stuffed with prosciutto and cheese baked and served with Napoli sauce and grilled asparagus. Cocktails and SteaksCocktails and Steaks
Steak | Uddingston, South Lanarkshire

Welcome to Cocktails and Steaks, Uddingston. Cocktails and Steaks will be the first of its kind in Uddingston. Our unique restaurant specialises in steaks complimented with fine wines, champagnes and curious cocktails. We are proud supporters of Scotch Beef. Our beef is aged for 28 days in a dry ageing chill, giving it time to mature and making it beautifully tender and rich in taste. Our steaks are cooked using a Josper. This combination of a grill and an oven uses the finest embers to create a unique texture and juiciness, while also using 40% less charcoal than an open grill. The Josper prevents food from drying out or burning, and brings the tastiest, juiciest steaks to your table. More

Two Fat Ladies at The West EndTwo Fat Ladies at The West End
Seafood | Glasgow, Glasgow

he original! Opened in 1989 serving 'seriously fishy' dishes in a small but perfectly formed dining room. The kitchen is open plan so you can see everything that's going on and have a chat with the chef on your way out! A firmly established Glasgow favourite on (88, naturally) Dumbarton Road, Two Fat Ladies has a deserved reputation as one of the city’s premier seafood restaurants, with consistently excellent cooking that can include influences from France, Italy, the Middle East and beyond. The dining space is compact but intimate, and is always busy so booking ahead is advised. A bright and vibrant starter of prawn and scallop cocktail with tomato, avocado and tequila shows the inventiveness of the kitchen. Moroccan spiced ling with vegetable cous-cous is a great way with a fine Scottish fish, and a succulent ribeye of Scotch beef garlic flat-cap mushrooms and homemade horseradish sauce is a treat for anyone preferring turf to surf!More
