*goosefoot® food & wine just next door offers a wonderful selection of wine at an excellent price point for your dining experience. Nina conveniently emails you the wine list; simply reply and she will have it chilled and ready for you at the restaurant. No need to run around town! Our wine selection is chosen to pair well with the current menu and the wines are priced appropriately!
I took my husband there for his birthday Saturday evening and the entire experience was very lovely. The food was inventive but not too out-of-the box, it tasted delicious and presentation was lovely. Service was wonderful too. We especially appreciated the take-away dessert the next evening. Definitely choose from the wine list at the liquor store they offer. I chose from that and the wines were at the restaurant ready for us on time and the pairings were great! I would recommend this restaurant for romantic dates and celebrations.
Would highly recommend. Ambiance, food, service, food.... everything was outstanding and made for a very special evening.
When you want five star dining and service and have a special occasion to celebrate this is the place to be. Every morsel of food is exquisite and the space is so intimate. Must see place
This was a dining experience. Perhaps the best food I have had anywhere. Perfectly seasoned. Beautifully presented. Artistically conceived. Menu was a journey of superb food and the suggested wines paired nicely. This was really, really great. The only note would be that the space is not on par with the dining experience, it is sort of blah, but tastefully decorated. Be prepared to enjoy this wonderful restaurant.
The food was amazing, start to finish. Delicious, interesting, and not over-salted (which seems to be a problem even for many fine dining restaurants). The tasting menu was thoughtful and artfully presented. And the service was perfect. Nina and Chris deliver an eating experience, not just a meal. If we had one complaint - and it’s a nit picky one - it would be that the courses could have been just a bit smaller, especially the soup. By the time we got to the pasta we were getting full and felt like we couldn’t finish everything. It was a shame to leave a few of those tantalizing tortellini on the plate. In any event, we’d go back in a heartbeat!
Food and service were excellent as always. There were 6 of us and we were in the separate room - conversation was easy, service was well paced, and everyone really enjoyed the food and the evening. We look forward to our next visit.
From the moment we walked in until we walked out, it was a delightful feast for the senses. First off, it is BYOB so don’t forget that. We did not see a wine store next door so that may be closed. Ask prior to arriving as to whether that option many spoke of is even available. We enjoyed a bottle of Champagne which complimented the dinner selections.. Our experience was unlike any we have ever had. Each and every course was delicious! The flavors were a symphony of taste sensations. If you simply give up your control to the chef’s whims without a preconceived idea of your food, you will have an amazing culinary experience. When we were there, the theme was Woodstock with an artistic type of altar in the middle of the dining room with a two sided video of the Woodstock rock concert. It was like being in a museum. The music was part Woodstock and part Jazz played at a volume conducive for conversation. Seating was generous and comfortable and you should plan to be there quite a while as the food comes out in a leisurely fashion. This was great as it was an anniversary for us and gave us time to savor the food, yet have ample time for conversing. They encourage photos of the food. Each course is a work of art. When we had our final course which was a large bar of Goosefoot chocolate, we were presented with 2 origami dragons in honor of Game of Thrones. While some portions may seem small to some, you will not leave hungry. There is a plan so just go with it. The food is exquisite and designed to gradually leave your appetite satiated. Definitely going back!
This was an exceptional sensory experience. Chris and Nina were channeling Woodstock and it was excellently done. We cannot wait for their encore on our next visit.
Fantastic restaurant. Excellent food and impeccable service - extremely attentive. Actually a great value for the food and experience when compared to other prix fixe restaurants. And no corkage fee!!
Amazing Pre Fixe menu. Intimate venue and BYOB. One of the most unique dining experiences in the city.
A labor of love by a husband and wife team. Thank you for the experience!
Amazing, curated dining experience with great, beautifully presented food and excellent service.
Wonderful experience each course was delightful and Nina was the perfect hostess
Fantastic! Every aspect was on point. I loved the chocolate gift to eat the next day. Can’t wait for our next special occasion to go back.
Fantastic. All around fantastic food, service and ambiance.
Extraordinary, remarkable, memorable! One of the best prix fixe dinners we have EVER had...and We have had our share of good ones but Goosefoot was great! It’s one of those meals that is as artful as it is tasteful. The thought and imagination the Nugent’s put into each course is amazing! Wonderful wonderful evening! Highly recommend!
My close friend from high school came in from Australia for a visit and really desired a fine dining experience. I was able to book Alinea on such notice and found Goosefoot instead. It was wonderful! We savored every course with all of our senses. Neither one of us were disappointed in missing out at Alinea because Goosefoot did not disappoint and was half the price of the ticket we would have paid.
I cannot even choose my favorite dish, but I LOVED the chocolate bar to take home! It was like extending the amazing experience we had had in the restaurant. Thank you to the chef and staff for making our night one that will always be remembered.
Goosefoot did not disappoint. We celebrated a 60th birthday and it was absolutely perfect. Thanks for making our dinner so special. We will definitely be back!!!
A true dining experience. You feel like
you are dining in their home. BYOB offsets the price tag. Well worth it!!
Great food, hospitality and atmosphere. Small dinner room without being packed.
Love the creative dishes, mainly the Goosefoot one!
Great experience, can’t really find a flaw!!
Outstanding experience! Food was amazing, service attentive and environment conducive to conversation. Nina made our family feel special and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening!
I was seated right away when I arrived despite being early. The wine we had ordered from next door was ready for us, and the service was delightful. Nina and her staff were attentive but not overbearing; there description of the food was entertaining. Highly recommended!
Amazing taste and combinations. Excellent service and food art.
Very cozy, small restaurant. It was like eating at someone's home. The food was delicious and great service. We enjoyed the music very much. Lovely experience, thank you!
The had a great experience, the food was amazing and the service outstanding. The Woodstock theme was a nice touch, we loved the music playlist. Thank you Nina, Chris & Natalia for a wonderful night. We will be back!
My wife and I visited Goosefoot for the second time, this time for my wife’s birthday, and we were pleased with every aspect. We were greeted at the door by Nina (one of the owners and wife of the Chris, the chef), seated and began a journey of 8 courses while sipping on a fine red that we had brought ourselves (it’s BYO). All courses are simply to die for... We began with the tastiest scallop/lobster/coconut milk dish that is easily the best we’ve ever had, and proceeded to then be blown away by each and every dish that followed. The crab/potato soup with sunflower froth was hearty and amazing, followed by Nina’s special pasta, complete with black truffle and pecorino in an amazing broth. (We were now feeling like we were close to capacity, which tells you how generous the dishes are...). We then closed out with the 4 more modest dishes that followed before concluding with our coffee. If you have the chance to experience this meal, while enjoying the service/attention of Nina and her small staff, don’t pass it up. We look forward to our return visit soon, as they will launch their new menu in April/May.
Absolutely not worth the cost.
Goosefoot is aging well. Their menu continues to bring outstanding presentations balanced with harmonious flavors and sumptuousness. Service if welcoming and friendly. Still one of the best values for tasting menus in Chicago - and the BYOB adds to that. A true gem for Chicago dining.
Chris and Nina take you to fantasyland! Wonderful experience! Joana from Uber have us the hint!! Luck we are!!!
Food and atmosphere were delightful. I would only ask that the servers speak clearly and slowly when describing the marvelous presentations.
We had a wonderful evening. Nina and staff could not have been nicer. The food and ambience were fabulous. A Special place to celebrate a Special occasion! Thank you
We had such a wonderful time, the food was delicious, great service and we love the Woodstock music theme. We purchased the wines from their wine store. The wines were great, we chose three 1/2 bottles and they paired perfectly with the menu. Highly recommend it, we will be back!
AMAZING MEAL! Highly recommended for all!!
Amazing experience!!! We felt special tonight. Exceptional service and ambience,
Goosefoot was an experience I will forever remember. They made our anniversary so special. Nina is so charming and made you feel like a long time friend. And the food - unreal. I can’t say enough about our time at goosefoot!
We went to goosefoot on March 1 and could not have been more delighted or surprised! The restaurant is very small and co-owner Nina personally greeted and waited on us - she even remembered my name when she came over to our table! Small details like this are so impressive.
The important part: the food. The food was EXCEPTIONAL! It was a perfect mix of innovative, comforting and filling. We loved the mushroom soup, which reminded us of an improved upon and different version of a French onion soup. It had a hearty and complex broth topped with a delicate foam. Another highlight was what felt like an upscale take on mac n' cheese, made with soft tortellini, in a warm and luscious cheese sauce/soup. It was topped with Parmesan and thinly shaved truffle. This was the best part as the truffle and Parmesan melted together onto the pasta.
All of it was balanced so well, and even among some of the top restaurants in Chicago, goosefoot stands out. It's the type of place that Chicagoans are lucky to be able to make a reservation and go to - in New York this place would be impossible to visit without a reservation 3 months in advance.
One thing to remember - you are at goosefoot for an experience and not just food. Dinner will probably take you a couple of hours - sit back and enjoy it.
Thank you, Nina and Chris for an amazing meal!
Goosefoot was a great experience for my girlfriend and I. The service was excellent, the food was good and the ambiance was first rate. We decided we will dine there every Valentines Day.
The food was amazing, the service stellar and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing.
For another 100 dollars I would recommend them to Alinea. I was impressed with the first dish but once I got to the deserts I couldn't believe they would serve these dishes at a place like this.
