We are a completely in-house production, starting with fresh, basic ingrediants in order to create homemade bread to desert.
Over 80% of our products come from Italy one time a week such as, olive oil, flour, truffles, specialty cheeses, bufala mozzarella for the Neopolotan-style pizza, ice cream and etc.
Great, classic Italian food in a traditionally styled restaurant.
This spot was highly recommended by Boston mag, Eater and open table. We drove 25 mins to dine here for lunch from Boston... big disappointment! No atmosphere, Poor service, and just bad food. Pasta fair, pizza less then fair and cold, Cesar salad fair. Do yourself a favor pass on this restaurant... you can definitely find somewhere better.
Excellent food and wine! Great service! This was my fourth time to the place and planning to go again!
Reliably delicious food. I highly recommend the funghi pizza and the ravioli with strozzapreti.
This a truly authenticate Italian Restaurant. There was something for every member of my wife's Birthday party. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the portions are on the moderate size, but every bite is great.
If you get there early order their Dirty Vodka Martini made with organic vodka, scrumptious.
Finally there's a real Italian restaurant. I paid less for an incomparable experience.
Fantastic surprise!!! A little off the beaten path, tucked away and well worth side stepping to it! When we could not get a table in some of the more notorious places on Hanover and other Italian titans in the well known North End district, I started looking outward a bit looking for some legit Italian food before our B's game at the TD. So glad we found this place! All pasta made in house, Quiet "but not dead" feeling at all- (its important to note we were seated a little on the early side @ 5:00PM out of concern for being out on time to make the game). It steadily filled in about 15 minutes after we were seated. Good energy by the staff, we were passionately walked through the specials that night and timing of appetizer, drinks and main course was uncanny and exceptional. We were checked on a couple times without being intruded upon. The people here, in our experience, strike an excellent balance of service while not stepping in with your mouth full. Once again, timing was one of their specialties in our experience that night. About the food...???? I caught myself ohhing and "ummm"-ing after most every bite and then needed to be more aware of my surroundings in the cozy dining atmosphere. My wife ordered the ravioli and I ordered the Paccheri (large tube macaroni with a short rib ragu) Both were truly outstanding! They pride themselves on procuring quality ingredients from Italy weekly and they know how to prepare them! this restaurant for us, is worth going back to as a first pick- not just when you did not book a table 6 weeks in advance on Hanover street. Those places are great too...and everybody knows it-so it can be tough to get in those places without super advance planning and reserving. Do yourself a favor and venture over a few blocks to check this "hidden treasure" on Sherman Street in Cambridge. We sure will again only this time we'll plan this place as a first pick instead of resorting to it when other great places were booked out for weeks ahead.
This is our second time to Gran Gusto. The food was excellent and the service was very warm and friendly.
Night out with friends
We were pretty much ignored after we sat down and water was poured. Had to flag waiter (who is also the owner) down to place drink order. Also had to ask for bread. Some of us ordered the special, which was simply ok. The ricotta pie for dessert was the highlight of our evening. Bottom line - what could have been a memorable evening was just an ok night out given lack of hospitality.
Best Pasta Bolognese I've ever had! I would highly recommend Gran Gusto and will absolutely be returning.
Great food and service. Great bartender. Good vibe.
The pasta was horrible. I have lived in italy for 11 years and this was not good pasta. I am used to al dente this me pasta was heavy sort of dense . I was very disappointed
the food service and wine was excellent. i would reccomend for authentic italian food
Loved this authentic Italian restaurant! Several shared starters were the perfect start. The homemade pasta was delicious and despite the generous portions, everyone finished their meal!
Poor manners on the part of the owner. Inattentive. Rushed us to give our order. When signaled that we were ready, he didn’t come back for 15 minutes. Pizza was undercooked, flavorless and cheese was not melted.
Great food for great prices. Really can't beat it. I had the branzino - it was delish.
The food was very good, as usual. And Antonio’s service was stellar - making the dining experience extra enjoyable.
I see why everyone raves about the Grilled Calamari. My first time trying. And my companion loved the Eggplant Melanzana, a go-to for me.
Fantastic Italian food - fresh, inventive, downright excellent.
I am Italian, here in Boston since less than 2 months, and I was feeling homesick, at most I was missing the good Italian food. Here the owners and chefs are true people from Napoli, they prepare pizza even better than in my hometown in the north of Italy, pasta with mixed seafood was amazing. I recommend to everyone, for having the best Italian experience Gran Gusto is really over the top! Grazie Antonio! Siete mitici! Forza Napoli!!!
Another great Italian meal reasonably-priced. We like Gran Gusto for the quality of the food and wine - also for the family atmosphere and pleasant personality of the owner and the servers. The food is high quality. We started with the platter of antipasti - excellent prosciutto, cheeses and other antipasti. The salads and meals also lived up to the starter. The wine melded it all together. We will go back again...and again.
Very good good food good service not too noisy ambiance good be more accurated
Maitre d was peculiar and did not tell us price of wine, just open and poured what he selected for us. Otherwise very nice evening.
Wonderful food with a fantastic host! Don’t miss it!
Busy night. Warm welcome
Delightful! Warm greeting from the host and the food is amazing.
Fantastic restaurant. The service was great and the food was even better. Highly recommend.
Our go to place! Authentic and delicious. Fun atmosphere
Food is excellent
Always mobbed & reservation needed
Hence the noise
Always such a joy dining here!
Food was sensational and I’m definitely going to go again! Delicious!
The food is delicious and very authentic. There’s plenty of people speaking Italian at various tables. There’s a nice Trattoria like feel to the meals. The wine list is very well chosen, and given the quality not too expensive.
Far and away superior to the North end restaurants that cater to tourists. Check it out.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Great Italian food, my favorite appetizer is the squid. great salads and some daily specials. I have never been disappointed.
In the summer there is outside dining.
Nice Italian restaurant
A great price for a delicious meal! We will be back!
From appetizers to dessert, everything was wonderful! Food was excellent and authentic. Wait staff was very attentive and knowledge. Our kids pizza! North End feel but with better food! We will be back soon!
I live very close but this was my first time at Gran Gusto. Absolutely excellent all around for our large party. Each entree was perfectly cooked. The pasta was homemade and the sauce gently clung to each piece for full flavor in every bite. The calamari was gently and crisply breaded and tender inside. The gentleman who took our order explained the dishes carefully, offering an adjustment when someone in our group asked. Each dish was carefully made to order. We shared six entrees and three appetizers and everything was superb. We will be back!
Wonderful experience. The wait staff was engaging and attentive and the meal was expertly prepared. Had a fantastic time and will return.
