Great Queen Street
Shame it’s closing it’s one of my favourite London places.
Except that it's closing! Landlord, increased rent etc. A great pity. It's been booked all week.
Travesty this place is closing this week. One of the best. Lovely last experience here.
We chose Great Queen Street to celebrate our anniversary as my husband had eaten good food here before. We liked the menu and had really tasty cocktails, wine and food. We originally wanted to have a pre-dinner drink in the bar downstairs but it was empty so felt uninviting. The only criticism I have with the food was the temperature of my main dish, described as “roast duck with green beans and a walnut sauce”. The duck was warm but the beans were cold. I was told it was a “bean salad” but that’s not the way it was described, so hopefully they’ll re-word it on the menu. Other than the chilly beans though the dish was delicious. I’m looking forward to coming back to try more dishes.
We absolutely enjoyed our delicious meal before attending a show. The food was well prepared, served with care and delicious to eat. Thank you for this memorable experience!
Great gastro pub, with some soecial dishes, like rabbit. And rhe mozarella was one of the best i ever had
Amazing restaurant with amazing staff and ENGLISH food (and adequate prices - very rare at that touristy location).
Too bad it's closing soon. Thankfully, I was able to introduce it to my family and friends beforehand. I hope the owner decides to reopen it somewhere close to the original, with same overall quality.
Exceeded expectations! Great food and cool environment.
Excellent British food. Can thoroughly recommend any of the pies, the Wellington and the lamb shoulder. Varied wine list. Buzzy atmosphere on a Thursday evening. Just as good as it’s sister-restaurant south of the river (the Canton Arms)!
Great British gastro food. Enjoyed the food from beginning to end.
They also have a good selecting on ales.
Lunch was great with attentive, friendly service a laid-back atmosphere and excellent food. What more could you want?
Loved food, service and ambience. A good food appreciators restaurant without prevention. I will return often!
This is a really superb little restaurant. The staff are cheerful and obliging. The food is very good and fresh. My mackerel was divine. Definitely going back for more. Thanks
We had a pre-theatre booking and were made welcome even though we arrived early. We chose the chicken pie for two with one portion of buttered greens. Everything was very good and arrived piping hot and was plenty for the two of us. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We would certainly go again if in the area.
We don't live in London but this is our favourite restaurant! The menu is always so unusual with fabulous ingredients ,unusual combinations, wonderful, thank you very much!
Food was fabulous, just a delay on a side order. Got pretty noisy but nice atmosphere.
The beef wellington was perfectly cooked...but that buttery cabbage was actual perfection!
Great Food and Wine. Would recommend. Staff were fine, room for improvement in Service though.
Lovely as always. Been coming here since 2008. Great, great food
An otherwise good meal ruined by their refusal to take an open table dining cheque
Along with sister Anchor and Hope best gastropubs in London
We were on our way to the theatre and wanted something good but quick. The food was very good. The service was as good as any service in London. You have to get their attention sometimes. Overall a good choice.
Food here great as always and changing regularly. Staff really laid back and friendly with as much or as little attention as required. Seasonal ingredients brought together in a traditional style with often a modern twist. Family sharing plates here brilliant if you get 2 or 3 people to agree, which will be a challenge from such an eclectic and appealing menu with something for everyone.
The food was fantastic and the waiting staff was friendly and attentive. The only snug is the noise level - we were sat by the window in a sort of alcove but it became increasingly difficult to continue conversation as the night went on.
Food was excellent. The place is nice, and doesn't feel to dressed up or stiff for a great meal. A bit noisy, and the prices are not the cheapest but great for a special occasion.
We travel to London every few months and always book into queen street. Great food YOU MUST HAVE THE PIE!!!!! Buttered greens a delight.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.
Fantastic food, wine, service and ambience. One of my most favourite restaurants in London.
Nice steaks. Great for pre-theatre meal as just around the corner from the Gillian Lynn theatre.
Food disappointing and service inflexible. Menu looked good and had high hopes but unfortunately the food was not great.
Main: Seven hour lamb shoulder and gratin dauphinoise for three + Desert: Apple tart tatin and calvados ice cream for two.
Was so good, it made us forgot Brexit.
Fantastic food. Wine selection is average
Regular to this joint when I have to travel to London for work. Always best to book ahead, great selection of seasonal food that tastes fantastic. Great for dinner with work collugues or significant other. Highly Recommended.
Promised so much, but disappointed. The menu is interesting, the wine list is varied and reasonably priced, the staff are friendly and we know their sister restaurant, the Anchor and the vegetables with my wife's meal were cold. We are a bit torn as to whether or not to give the restaurant a second chance or not. It's a great location on the edge of Covent Garden and we suspect they can be really good, but it didn't quite click for us on this particular day.
Lovely meal as usual, very fairly priced , good service, only snag for me is why no champagne served by the glass , prosecco doesn't cut it , apart from that all good .
Easy going. Great food. Lovely staff.
The interior is fairly low-key, but all the full tables provided a lively atmosphere. The food was very good (having had a steak and chips main meal), and for that I would likely return. The service, however, was fairly disinterested. My table got just enough attention to allow the basics to be addressed, but nothing beyond that. Wait staff seemed a bit bored or distracted. Even with the venue being crowded, my meal took longer than I would have expected (35-40 minutes after ordering). Once the food arrived it was hot and tasty. That makes the lackadaisical service even more disappointing. If they got that right it would have been a 4+ rated meal.
Delicious food, friendly service, lively atmosphere. We have been several times before and very much enjoyed. Lovely scallops, trout for starters, excellent quail , lemon sole mains.
One of my old favourites, in the past the service has been inconsistent but it was spot on last Saturday in the pre theatre time slot. Loved the crispy yet moist shoulder of suckling pig, plenty big enough for four adult men with just a couple of sides.
Great food prepared with care using fresh ingredients. The potted shrimps were aong the best I have tasted whilst the rollled old spot was tender and beautifully sauced.
Great service, food and ambience. Been here 3 times now and look looking forward to the next time!!
