Chef Nicolas Guardado and his wife Reyna opened Guardado's Restaurant in 2007. Guardado brought with him a wealth of experience, rising through the ranks at local-area tapas restaurant Jaleo to a seasoned head chef.
Now, he is infusing that knowledge into his own restaurant, as well as adding some popular Latin American entrees and some traditional dishes from his native Salvadorean background to Guardado's extensive menu.
We have patio now for dining in!
We had our usual fantastic meal! Tapas and paella followed by fried plantains for dessert. As always, make a reservation.
The food was great and the service was too! The menu has a wide variety of options. We opted to share a variety of tapas but there are many entrees to choose from. Definitely will come back.
We will not be back. All the proteins were severely overcooked. All 8 of our tapas came out at the same time, so things got cold by the time we got to them. Just not too flavorful...
Great experience...always! Guardado’s is our little place to enjoy meals especially on special occasions.
It was awesome and food was great
We have been coming to this restaurant since they opened - always excellent. Food, service all outstanding.
A pleasant, simple, neighborhood Spanish restaurant with very good food, very good service, and excellent value.
Excellent Value , Highly Recommend
All the tapas we had were very good and the service was very friendly and attentive.
Great birthday celebration !
Service a bit slow. Food not as fully of flavor as similar food at other tapas places
Met another couple and was thrilled to find that Guardado’s extended restaurant week offers.
Portions were much bigger than expected, tasted outstanding and service was excellent.
The value, even if it weren’t restaurant week was. Wry good. We each ordered four tapas and a dessert. We shared everything and was thrilled with our own choices, as well as our friends choices.
We’ll be back!
It was fine. Not bad; not great. Nothing special. Paella was a little greasy. Shrimp was good.
Who knew there was this wonderful restaurant in our neighborhood. The food was wonderful. Have to go back soon!
Best tapas in DC, by far.
Great food, fast service. Unfortunately, the garlic shrimp was not cooked correctly this time (we had tried it before and it was delicious). On this occasion, the alcohol in the garlic shrimp sauce had not been cooked down, therefore the dish tasted bitter and was watery. All other dishes were great. Highly recommend the octopus, calamari, chorizo, NY steak, and potatoes. The flan is excellent dessert.
we were there to celebrate a birthday. the food is delicious. they have an excellent staff. very friendly. a very well run restaurant. flamenco music on thurs! we've been to the restaurant 3 times now. will be back again!
Service was terrible! We had a party of six and everyone ordered four tapas each - #1 person received all four at once; #s 2 - 5 received two each; #6 received none. Of course, we started to wait but our food got cold. We asked many times when the rest of the food would be coming. 55 minutes later - #s 2 -5 received one more tapa. 95 minutes the rest of the food arrived. You would think a 'tapa' place would know how to send the orders out so that you could enjoy sharing and eating hot food. Needless to . say, we w ill not be returning there.
Wonderful tasty meal and excellent service. Highly recommend for a nice evening out.
Very comfortable, casual restaurant with a wonderful use of space. Live music on Thursday nights is another nice feature. The food was delicious and the service was solid. I would highly recommend.
Very good Spanish food. Excellent paella and varied group of tapas to choose from which were of high quality. My favorite restaurant in Bethesda.
Guardado's is that rare restaurant in the area that really feels like a family owned business. You can tell the really care. The food is outstanding as is the service.
I had to get here early in the new as this is one of my favorite restaurants. It is run by a family so the staffing is consistent and the service is the same. Sat at the bar and was able to enjoy several items on the tapas menu. In the mood for seafood tapas so we explored several of the options on the menu. The octopus was particularly good. They also have a reasonably priced, good wine list. This still remains one of my favorite places.
Guardado’s is one my family’s favorite restaurants. The food is always yummy and the staff treat you like family. We spend every NYE at Guardado’s and they always deliver a great experience.
We love the food here! The lamb chop appetizer and garlic shrimp appetizer were so delicious. And they make the most wonderful paella. The most difficult thing is choosing which to order. Can't wait to go back.
As always, a great meal. It used to be off the radar but judging by Saturday night, this neighborhood gem has been discovered. I am happy for them! Well deserved.
Perfect place for tapas and paella. We had a fabulous meal.
Charming little family-owned restaurant. Very good value. One or two dishes were a little on the oily side. Excellent choices of tapas.
Impromptu dinner at the best family friendly Tapas place. Once you try their paella you will be spoiled for life. Not to mention their amazing tapas dishes.
Absolutely love this place.
It was excellent.
Very friendly restaurant with a family feel neighborhood vibe, yet top-quality delicious food. Service was attentive and warm and helpful and fast.
Excellent food, very reasonable, friendly service
Terrific neighborhood restaurant that provides good food at great value.
All the food was good, the service was personable and attentive, and the overall experience cheerful and cozy after a movie in the nearby cinema.
As always a great meal with obviously freshly made food. Incredible value. We had a group of 7 and all had a great time and a great meal.
This was a Saturday night dinner that turned out well. Cervich is exceptional and all other food was very good. We have been many times and the food is consistently good a reasonable prices
The restaurant detracts from the experience by imposing small extras like 30 cents for an additional tortilla and $1 for a dollop of sour cream on dishes where these items are necessary. They should develop a price structure that makes this unnecessary.
Was looking for a nice place, not to loud, to have a conversation with friends. This was the place. The food and serve were good and the price was reasonable. Big public parking lot right across the street. The staff was very pleasant. The menu choices were broad, and there was a williingness to accomodate and adjust for allergies. Would certainly go again.
Always enjoyable! Perhaps our favorite place in Bethesda.
