Hal's - Buckhead
We were able to sit downstairs and up front next to the windows so it was very quiet and private experience. Hal’s can always be counted on to be top shelf food and service at a reasonable price
Love everything about this gem of a restaurant! Can’t help but eat here every time I come to the ATL! Get the chargrilled oysters—not less than a dozen!!
Customer service from Brooke was outstanding. I've eaten all over Atlanta for the last 25 years and I'm now declaring that Hal's is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta
Great food and service. Best steak in town. Good for a big group. One "disadvantage" - very very noisy. Perfect for social event, not for business or first date:)
Everything was perfect
This is an up scale steakhouse. Piano man playing the songs. Steak was awesome. They have a deep fried lobster app that was incredibly delicious.
As usual GREAT place and A FANTASTIC meal.
Entertained some overseas guests and they totally enjoyed the food and service
We were in town for two days and a friend had suggested your restaurant. In short , it was well worth it. Started off with salads , oysters and escargot. Perfect.
All three of us ordered steak. Typically I do not order steak at a restaurant only because I would rather grill it myself and add some flavor. However, two of us ordered filet thermidor which was incredible. Chased it down with lobster Mac and cheese. I have never had it with lobster before - and may not eat it with out is again.
Cocktails were dead on, with quality spirits.
No room for dessert, but had some coffee and passed a slice of cheesecake with strawberries around anyway. Waiter was great as well. Thank you
Next time in town will definitely be back.
The food was great as was the service. We were placed at a table that was squeezed in. A 4 top had a patron with the chair pushed out.... the staff had to turn sideways to get past. I was constantly hit in the shoulder and the arm every time they passed. We had to personally move our table in order to have any space at all.
The Hal’s Ribeye was amazing! I totally recommend.
I found the hostesses to be unfriendly. Not very welcoming.
Great food and service. Noisy and tables packed in tightly
Amazing food! The blackened filet was outstanding and the Sea Bass was to die for!
Honestly, this is the best food in Atlanta. Every single thing we order is always delicious, the service is impeccable, and you leave just wanting to return. Eat early if noise is an issue for you. The crab salad, the grilled oysters, the filet... Might want to try those.
Absolutely our favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Everything about our meal was on point. We’ll definitely be back every time we visit ATL!
The manager, Brooke, and our server, Abi, made our night! The food was delicious as always, consistency is key. We choose Hal's for the food and ambiance, but our 2 new reasons to visit Hal's are Brooke and Abi.
Though the food runners lacked some experience by stacking the plates on top of each other after being asked to box the food, Brooke and Abi quickly got us fresh sides to go and bought our espressos at the end of our meal. I've been in the industry for many years and wasn't expecting anything, but know that one has to speak up in these situations to help the restaurant rectify it for the future. Thank you Brooke and Abi for the wonderful experience. Ali has been the best server I've had at Hal's for years.
We have been to Hals multiple times during the week(Mon - Thurs.), however this was the first on a Friday night. The hostess seemed to be too bothered to assist us and passed us to another hostess to seat us. She wasn't sure where to put us and asked us to stand in the middle of the restaurant while she verified our table. There were multiple servers and customers trying to walk around and everyone seemed to be in the others way. Our waiter basically told us what bourbon and vodka to drink, as well as which salad and steak to order. I don't think he knew what "suggestion" meant. He also seemed more concerned about a 4 top beside us rather than checking on us periodically. I was a little surprised that a magician would be going from table to table interrupting peoples dinner. Also, it seemed that they had put more tables in the dining space trying to get more customers seated, which added to a already overcrowded room. We were a little cramped to say the least. I will say, the food was OUTSTANDING. I only wish every aspect of the night would have been as great as the meal.
This is my favorite restaurant in the country! The filet mignon is like butter. It just melts in your mouth!!
I am a big fan of Hal's and visit quite often. While the food was excellent, as usual the service was terrible. The server was non-responsive and often dismissive. We waited for 15 minutes to place a drink order. Had to flag him down to place our order. He never offered us coffee or dessert as we waited for another 15 minutes for the check. In fact we needed to ask the busboy for the check. This is the worst service I have ever receive, and our reservation was at 5;45pm
Jeff was our waiter and he’s FANTASTIC!!!
Great, local gem. Best steak in Atlanta with remarkable service. Good for date nights, business meetings and special occasions.
Birthday dinner for Husband. They remembered and made sure to wish him a Happy Birthday along with a special dessert. Food was good--we both ordered steaks--but not fantabulous. Cigar smoke in bar area a bit overwhelming. Would try them again.
Jeff was very friendly and courteous. He was quite knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions as needed. The ambience was nice soft lights and candles; a bit difficult to read the menu. Nonetheless, Jeff was available to provide answers. Some patrons used their phone light to read the menu.
Although my preference is bone-in whole fish; the snapper fillet was tasty.
The bartender made the best "Surfer on Acid" drink. I highly recommend ordering at least one.
The chocolate ganache b-day cake was a nice surprise. For someone that don't care for chocolate; it was absolutely divine.
Be mindful; Google maps directions were a bit off for the actual location. Perhaps it depends on where you initiate your starting point. Once in the area; call the restaurant and the hostess will direct you accordingly.
There was no apparent self parking signs. Valet parking seems to be the only choice.
Overall, it is a splendid option for a birthday / anniversary dining experience.
We arrived a little earlier than our reservation and was seated immediately upstairs, which was awesome. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was great. We had an off the menu special of Sea Bass and it was delicious.
The best steak in Atlanta.
Excellent as always!
Steak(s) Oscar were fine, accompanying asparagus was woody and inedible. Lobster mac and cheese was superb (not on menu), very pricey ($22.00)
New Year’s Eve dinner. We waited for over an hour for our table but they were awesome for letting me add 2 people to my reservation. We waited over an hour for the food but it was well worth it.
Fabulous all around!!!!
New Years Eve Celebration
New Years eve, crazy busy however, the food & service were both first rate. First class steakhouse.
The Chilean Sea Bass was awesome--maybe the best I've ever had. The bone in filet was pretty good as well, although I think I prefer the bone in rib-eye a bit more.
Guido ( not sure I spelled that correctly) as always was superb
Always a great experience!!
Noisy; chair wobbly; food very average; server very good, but easy to see by the way things were done that this was not fine dining
Had a great evening with my son, grandsons and son in law before Peach Bowl. Great drinks, great food and great service. Fun !
The food was outstanding but it was one of the loudest restaurants I’ve been in. I couldn’t hear the person sitting next to me
Food and service was great but the decibel level was deafening.
Absolutely amazing place and Brian was fabulous! Food was delicious with mouth watering flavors!
