I dined at Helm in March, 2020 and enjoyed the experience. The food was good, service was fantastic, and the restaurant lovely. There was a fairly noisy group of businessmen seated next to us, but both they and staff were kind & apologetic for the noise. I would mostly recommend to those interested in local farm-to-table fare skewing to the root vegetable side of things.
The meal was stunningly good. Deep flavor in every bite across the six dishes shared by my guests and me. Will come back soon.

Certain menu items were delicious and executed very well others not so much. Lamb too tough to eat. When server asked at the end of the meal we nicely mentioned that the lamb was very tough, it had to be obvious as we didn’t eat even a 1/4 of the dish. She just said “oh really, it’s normally very tender”. That was it, no offer to recook or anything...just oh, not normally like that. So many choices in Philly. We still had a nice time but skipped dessert and went to another place for dessert and coffee.
All categories were great artic char was hit entree brownies with ice cream great dessert. All apps were great
Parking was very difficult. Started the experience on a negative note after 20 minutes of circling the neighborhood for a spot.
Once in the restaurant, food and service were great, though. Very nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed the meal. All four of us thought it was great. Excellent flavors. Wonderful sauces. Decent portions. Great desserts. Loved the simple menu. BYOB was a real plus, too.
Unfortunately noise level is high. Amazingly high and at times annoying for such a small place. Common problem in Philadelphia, in our experience, though.
Would visit again. Got high praise from other friends, which is why we chose it initially. They took an Uber there so did not experience the parking issue. Wish we considered that!
Abigale was superior. Made the entire evening perfect. From the first impressions to the main course, everything including the staff was wonderful.
Food was very good and inventive. We tried all of the starters and everything tasted good. The only negative was that they seemed to all taste similar to each other.
Without a doubt one of the best restaurants I've been to in Philadelphia. Service was fantastic, food was incredible, atmosphere was phenomenal. I will definitely be back and I'm telling everyone I know to check it out.

We had a marvelous dinner for 5 people. We were seated at the window which was very cozy, and the food was imaginative and delicious, and the service was graceful. Highly recommend!!!

In my opinion, Helm is one of the most underrated restaurants in all of Philadelphia. The octopus appetizer was excellent, and the lamb ragu was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Service is always impeccable as well.
We had a fantastic dinner at Helm, the dishes were so interesting and delicious, with really creative combinations of local ingredients and even some foraged mushrooms. We especially enjoyed the chicken with latke, the flavors were just incredible. Smoked carrots were of course fantastic, and the octopus with balsamic and avocado was a standout. Service was attentive but not overbearing, and the atmosphere was cozy. The noise level was a bit high, perhaps something to dampen the noise slightly would be nice. But overall an absolutely wonderful meal.
Helm quickly became one of my favorite places when I moved down the street 2 years ago. My husband and I literally made this “our spot” and recommended it to our closest friends. This past visit was very disappointing. This food wasn’t right, the service was poor, the restroom was disgusting. I had the acorn squash where they kept the skin on so it was like chewing bark. My husband got the pork which was extra chewy and under seasoned. The polenta saved the day! It was so rich and yummy I should have only got that. We may give this spot another try but not anytime soon.

Among the best meals I've ever had. The staff is so knowledgeable and it's clear that everyone wears many hats. The food is beautifully presented, perfectly executed, and such a joy to eat. We will be returning at our first opportunity!

Not as great as it once was the service staff are very accommodating and knowledgeable and I believe proud to represent the restaurant. The portions for the entrees are small the just lacked the panache it once had

My wife an I drive to Philadelphia from Delaware just for Helm. The menu changes frequently so make sure that you get there quick to experience the turnips with bacon and horseradish. They were outstanding. The servers are always knowledgeable about the menu and super approachable.

Our first time, but certainly, not our last. The friendly greeting and banter on arrival, made us relaxed and ready for a fun evening. And we were not disappointed. We had a very comfortable, non rushed dinner experience. The food was beyond delicious and very original. We will return soon and tell our friends.

Helm was the perfect place for a special , yet low key and quiet date. The service was impeccable and our server was extremely knowledgeable. The food was impressive, unique and original. It’s a very seasonal restaurant with a farm to dinner table vibe. We can’t wait to return ! Also byo status makes it very affordable.

My last dinner at Helm was slightly disappointing compared to my previous experiences. The oyster dish was a letdown, and so was the dessert (an ice cream sandwich that was nothing to write home about). This being said, everything else we had was delicious, and the escargot dish was simply fabulous.
We LOVED this restaurant. The menu was so unique, fresh, and delicious and the atmosphere was so cozy and romantic. Huge plus that it was also BYOB.
