Beautiful resturant, good staff, but the food was bad. The seared tuna was so water logged and the creme brulee was more pudding then a thick creamy texture.
Jason was great! Very attentive to our needs. The food was fabulous -- as always!
If you want the true Kent Island experience, come to Hemingways!
The food and service were excellent. Menu provided many great choices to choose from.
I was not impressed with the food. The soup was watery with very little crab and the rockfish was dry with very little sauce. I will not be returning to this restaurant in the future.
Romantic experience, sunset dinner with fabulous views of the Chesapeake Bay. Service was attentive and top notch, food was flavorful and delicious!
We went for lunch on a Saturday and it was very quiet. We got a table next to the window with a beautiful view. Service was quick and our food was delicious!
We will go again . Very good in all seasons! The atmosphere was great, food delicios and the views fantastic, we were fortunate to see a glorious sunset.
Not entire comfortable for disabled people. Outside elevator initially go stuck going to dining floor. Bathroom was fine for accessibility
I couldn’t eat the chicken on the Caesar salad-it was nothing but grizzle and the dressing didn’t seem like a Caesar dressing. The meatloaf my daughter in law had apparently wasn’t tasty either. We won’t be back until summer...
Dec 14th Sat evening, around 6pm. No sunset views this late, but views of the lights of the bridges. A lot of reflection keeps you from just looking out into the night, but you can see serenity outdoors. A light crowd for what was a rainy, cool day. Low key but comfortable. We will love to be back before sunset to see what is an incredible view of the Chesapeake Bay looking west.
Our service was very attentive, food selections right up my alley because of so many offerings. Our selected foods were as described, tasted very good and looked great.
We will definitely visit again soon to explore other meal selections. No desserts attempted since we were definitely satiated after our selections.
We went for the Thanksgiving meal. Seafood was very good but the scallops and crab cakes could be just as good elsewhere. Turkey was dry, stringbeans were overdone and mushy. Service was great, food came out faster than we could eat. Ambience was great. I'm making the food sound worse than it was. Good place to impress a date.
Thanksgiving, 1/2 full, limited menu and service was still so-so. They ran out of prime rib, right as I was placing my order for it, of course, at 5pm. Cross off one offerring for the night. Then our entrees were delayed up tp one hour waiting for a new batch of mashed potatoes. Really? You're going to stop all the works over measly mashed potatoes. They forgot the cranberry sauce for my turkey entree, after they decided to deliver it without my mashed potatoes. Ever hear of Keystone cops? This was it. By the time they got their act together, we decided just to take it to go. No sense continuing with the misery of bad service and management. They did take $20 off the tab for the wine without me asking, so they were aware of their own problem. Unfortunately, this is just par for the course for the restaurant.
We've always wanted to dine at the restaurant with the great views of the Bay. I'm sorry to say we were very disappointed by their Thanksgiving dinner. The food was not worth the almost $40 per person charge. The appetizers, salad, and dessert were delicious but the main courses were very unsatisfactory. The vegetables were mushy and overcooked. The rockfish was mushy and lacked flavor, the fish on the grilled platter looked and tasted boiled vs broiled. If you put the crab and on top of the fish, it was edible. There were no rolls. Service was also very slow. It took forever to get refills on our water. I had always heard the food was delicious so we were very surprised at Thanksgiving. I think if the restaurant continues to open on this holiday, they should stick to their traditional menu.
First time there for Thanksgiving Dinner and it was good food, service and views. I was very pleased as a vegetarian they made an entree for me when they did not have one on their menu and it was good- my companions rock fish and turkey and enjoyed it -recommended
Fantastic menu- with something for every taste. Crab soups have chunks of lump crab in them. Brioche rolls on burgers are heavenly. Great quality and killer views. We love this place.
Great food perfect setting breathtaking view! Perfect place to be able to talk and get to know someone💙
Very quiet evenong, only 14 customers including our four members. Food was good, service was good... but prices were high for the content and had a somewhat limited menu. II had pasta and seafood in a rich cream sauce for $32. Serving size was less than two cups.. but was filling. Other entres included a soft shell crab sandwich, a crab cake sandwich, and one other sandwich. In my opinion, all were at the high end of average pricing.
There was a very large party that was very loud and it was impossible to talk to the person I was eating with at the table.
That made the experience stressful and not relaxing.
Good food, great service and a memorable view. Requested a table with a window view upon making reservations and they came through. Only possible negative was that is was a tad noisy (patrons).
I would recommend Hemingway’s for the food and the ambiance. However, the service left much to be desired. My husband and I were greeted by a waitress who clearly had no interest in providing a pleasurable dining experience. Her cold indifference did not go unnoticed. In addition, I overheard another waitress rudely chastise the receptionist by saying, “if you have time to stand around, you have time to clear tables”. This said much to me about the total lack of teamwork training and basic respect for co-workers. Management needs to step up their game and get a better handle on delivering an enjoyable dining experience for all customers, all the time.
Sunset on the deck, with great friends it was perfect !
Delicious food. Beautiful atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Beautiful sunset. Service fair. Food good
The only good thing about this restaurant is the location. Food is overpriced and over-salted. The service was awful. A diner had spilled some water on the table, we had to track down the waitress and ask for assistance. She flopped down a stack of paper napkins and walked away. A 20% tip was already added for having 7 people at the table, which was not deserved. Would not recommend.
Server was helpful with suggestions and description of the dishes. Food is consistently good and view is unbeatable!
Our waitress was very nice but didn’t check back to see if we needed anything..? The rock fish was not good and the veggies looked as tho they were left over 3 days...very disappointing experience.
The view from Hemingway's at Sunset can not be beat. Spectacular view of the Bay and Bridge. I felt the food, although good was too expensive for what you got and how it was presented. (Broiled Seafood Combo). Vegetables were mushy and Seafood rather bland. Service was very pleasant and we really enjoy the atmosphere. Think a smaller menu option (sandwich, etc) would have been a better choice.
Views are amazing! It is sad to say that is the onlt thing I can compliment the restaurant on. Calamaris were really oily! Would not recomend that at all. Oysters were good. Special sandwich was good too. The service wad poor. When we walked in there were 2 people at the stand, none of them bother to acknowledge us! They were talking and a minute or 2 went by and then the young lady said hi. Our server fid not even offer bread or rolls, we saw other people around us being brought the rolls. She checked to make sure everything was good but when we finished our meal she immediately brought the check, did not even offer dessert.... not coming back! I do not recomend this Type of service to anyone.
Tried out food for rehearsal dinner in the future. Very pleased
Sat outside on the upper patio overlooking the Bay. Beautiful venue, food was excellent, service was superb. Very nice start to our holiday weekend!
Please treat yourself to a lovely experience and refresh here after you cross the Bay Bridge. The menu is easy to navigate and choose from. The drinks and food positively fulfill the senses. The view of the bay, sea birds, boats and bridge is spectacular, and you will leave having experienced a mini vacation. Notes: I enjoyed a mid-road trip break during the Friday of Labor Day. The bar tender honored my request for a non-alcohol Bloody Marry, the cooks prepared a gorgeous guacamole, and I continue to dream about the watermelon gaspacho with crab.
We met for a late dinner. Our table overlooking the water was perfect. Our food was great and service excellent.
Hemingway's is a marina restaurant with fabulous views of the Chesapeake Bay and the Bay Bridge. We sat inside on a comfortable summer day. Most of the diners were seated on the ample outdoor covered area. Our meal was tasty. I sent my softshell crab sandwich back to the kitchen. I asked that it be prepared sauteed, but it was delivered heavily battered and fried, which is the normal menu offering.
The experience wasn't all that I expected, to be a seafood restaurant.
Hemingway’s has the most amazing view on the Chesapeake Bay with generous outdoor seating opportunities and they are somehow able to manage the crowds that flock to them on beautiful weekends - like this last weekend - with charm and grace. For this reason we plan on coming here often, even during the off season - it’s a unique and excellent restaurant with an excellent staff and perhaps the single most stunning view within hundreds of miles of the location.
We were there to listen to the late afternoon / early evening live entertainment; we grabbed a bite while waiting. The food was great and the serving sizes way more than we could eat. Service was good but a bit slower than our intent (we are fast eaters and generally brook no delay ordering, eating, and splitting). The views are outstanding, and I would highly recommend hanging for the Tiki bar live entertainment, especially of Mark Desroches is performing.
Food was delicious, atmosphere was awesome, service could have been better.
We ate at Hemingway's Sunday evening. It was not crowded, and therefore we did not understand why it seemed to take so long to get our appetizers....then our dinners came before we finished the apps. Overall we were happy -- love the view! Can't wait until the weather is a bit nicer to sit outside.
