Thank you Joe for your warm hospitality and wonderful recommendations. We had a fabulous time and enjoyed the creative dishes!
I was delighted with my goat cheese salad and scallops on sunflower seed ‘risotto’. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet but I understand they are busier when events are at the Kennedy center. I will return when I’m back in DC.
Spectacular service level - as they were very accommodating to ‘food issues’. Cuisine is very progressive - as they use traditional ingredients in interesting combinations (sunflower risotto with scallops). There are more ‘mainstream servings’ such as rack of lamb, beef tenderloin, and Hawaiian Sea Bass. This was on a trip to the area. But, definitely worth going back to.
Prompt, professional service in a quiet dining room. Food was excellent, especially the sautéed soft shell crab. Wines were diverse and reasonably priced.
Excellent all around. Food was delicious, nice presentation, and service was top of the line.
The problem is that service was very slow. After more than half an hour and a couple of requests, a waiter finally came to take our order.
We had dinner here before a concert at the Kennedy Center. We had wonderful service and our meals were delicious. We both especially enjoyed the crab cake appetizer.
My family enjoyed brunch at Jardenea. The atmosphere was nice but not quite what I expected. Food was EXCELLENT, service was subpar.
Delicious meal. Very accommodating. Attentive waiter. Comfortable seating.
Went for a celebratory meal with the family - one gluten intolerant diner, and one vegetarian diner. Good selections for GF, minimal selections for our light-eating veg - but she asked for a fresh fruit (not on the menu), and received a lovely bowl of fresh berries.
Get the Brussel Sprouts for the table to share - they were outstanding! Not inexpensive, but not unreasonably pricey.
We had a wonderful meal. Dereck was a cheerful and attentive server. The food was delicious. We look forward to our return. Thank you!
Another wonderful dinner at Jardenea.
This restaurant came highly recommended. But we found it just so-so. The menu was limited, the food was fresh but the preparation was not. The personnel was very friendly.
The staff was very nice and the food was great!
Our first visit to Jardenea was an early one before a concert. We found the service considerate of our eating preferences and our time schedule. Our beet-goat cheese salad was wonderful. My wild salmon was cooked perfectly. My wife's sole was great, perhaps a bit too salty. We were sorry not to have more time to experience the desserts and coffee, and we will definitely return.
French toast for brunch is a must try!!!
Excellent dinner! Was in DC for a work continued education cert, and I found this jewel. The menus was stacked with delicious items, great wine list, service was most helpful, and I walked away full and happy. I even came back for my last night in town. I rarely do that. But this place as worth it!
Great dining experience! Food was excelllent. Wish the cocktails had a little more variety such as gin, tequila or mezcal drinks, but was happy enough with ordering the Melrose. Thanks for a lovely meal.
We chose Jardenea for our anniversary celebration based on reviews. Wanted great food in a quiet setting. Wow! Exceeded all expectations. We will definitely go back. The service was wonderful -- we were able to enjoy the evening at our own pace; our dishes (soft shell crab, goat cheese salad, beef, filet of sole, chocolate cake and creme brûlée) were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We could tell that all the ingredients were fresh and carefully chosen. The staff helped make the evening extra special for us and we felt right at home. Great options for seating inside and out and very comfortable. Valet parking and the kind attendant who looked after us were also a plus.
Great food beautifully presented and service beyond superb!
This is a great place for a pretheater dinner, about 15 minutes walk from the Kennedy Center. The menu is short, but everything is really delicious. I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you order. This time I had the sole, which was very good. Coffee is also very good. The dining room is comfortable and cozy, broken into several small spaces. Service is professional and fairly efficient.
Both the food and the service were impeccable. We will be back!
We went on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was quiet so that we could easily talk. The service was outstanding. The food (locally sourced) was very good. My salad (goat cheese) was outstanding -- and who thinks of salad as being a standout? The soft shell crab was very good- albeit a little salty.
Both of my dining companions had the beef wellington and raved about how good it was.
We'd definitely go back.
We sat in the lobby dining area, by request, for Sunday brunch and loved it. The service was great, and our brioche French came with a lovely assortment of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries; all delicious. The Atlantic breakfast came complete with eggs, home fries, bacon and toast and was an ample portion. Coffee was served in a small pot for each diner; very nice. We will go back to this restaurant for sure!
The food was fantastic, with everything from the bread to the dessert being 5 star. I had the grass fed beef and enjoyed every mouthful. My wife had the duck and couldn't stop raving. The only slight issue was it being marked as a two dollar sign restaurant. While being worth every penny, the price with tip was over $120 for three people with no appetizers, one shared dessert and one glass of wine for me. This "compliant" is more a reflection of the OpenTable rating that the restaurant itself. I would highly recommend Jardenea
Great place to meet friends and talk or have a romantic dinner
We loved our dinner at Jardenea. We went with our parents who are considering hosting an event there.
We had a great experience: the food and the service were both fantastic and we could have a conversation without screaming.
We received great service and food at Jardenea. My colleagues had crab sandwiches, which they said were very good and I had the shrimp parpadelle, also excellent. We shared the profiteroles, which were fine. Coffee is really good too!
Quiet. One can talk and can hear one's friends.
Very good duck. Friends enjoyed their entrees, too (scallops/ steak)
Lovely place, professional and pleasing service. One of my favorite places. Best of all, it is relatively quiet so you can hear your table mates.
This was our first time to DC and to Jardenea. My son had the filet, I had the sea bass and my husband had the Duck Wellington. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We also had the lava cake and cream brûlée for dessert; delicious. Pricey but good!
Jardenea is one of my favorite restaurants largely because of the excellent food - have never been disappointed in a meal - and because it is that rare place in Washington that one can have a conversation without competing with loud music that leads people to shout to be heard. It is a calm oasis with well-sourced, seasonal menus beautifully prepared. At my last meal, I swooned over a brilliant short rib while my companion equally loved her scallops - the brussel sprouts were to die for. It is my go to.
We are foodies and felt the food was amazing. We had the sea bass and duck Wellington. The service was pretty good, but nothing that stood out like it would at a great fine dining place. We were there on a quiet evening.
Lovely staff, attentive and friendly; warm, inviting decor/atmosphere and good food. I enjoyed meeting a college friend for a reunion lunch there and we had a wonderful dining experience. I plan to visit again.
A friend and I came here for sunday breakfast before his flight left. It was located inside the hotel. If we had been guests of the hotel it would have been very convenient and a decent option but the food wasn't amazing. it was good, but there are other places in the area I would have tried if I had known it was primarily just a hotel restaurant. The service was great and everyone was very friendly, though!
Lovely place set in the Melrose Georgetown. Quiet setting in a nice-sized, not too big. Enough room between tables to converse. Food was excellent, waitstaff polite and unpretentious. Would refer to a friend-
We arrived on the early side for a weekend dinner (5:30) because we were attending a concert at the Kennedy Center afterwards (8 pm). There was no one at the entrance at first, so we had to wait a few minutes to get seated. At times throughout the night we had trouble flagging down a waiter, especially to pay for the bill and make it to our event. It was a nice setting, very quiet. It would have been walking distance to the Kennedy Center, but it was raining so we took the bus from the Foggy Bottom metro.
The food was good. One of us got the pre-theater prix fix menu (appetizer + entree + dessert), and the other got a single entree. This was the perfect amount of food for the two of us. The crab cake (appetizer), scallops (main), and sea bass (main) were all delicious. The seafood was cooked very well - crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. However, by the end of the meal, everything seemed a little bit salty. The chocolate lava cake (dessert) was good.
We were celebrating an anniversary and marked that in the Open Table reservation, so they gave us each a complimentary glass of champagne.
Great cosmopolitan feeling walking in but totally void of personnel.
No one to meet/greet. No one to address our table for at least 10 min and we were a party of 8 in the first EMPTY room.
The waiter then came with water - nothing else. This service continued throughout and we all felt that waiter was either high or brain dead.
Kind of hard to address the good food when we had to constantly ask for service.
Go for drinks but plan on spending a lot of time waiting for one
The food was superb, the service- fantastic, the ability to hold a conversation without shouting -appreciated. Lived in the area for years but never heard of this restaurant and based on the quality of the food this is one of Washington's best kept secrets.
Nothing wrong with the food and service - both good. Duck Confit appetizer was yummy. However, good luck if you plan to use their valet parking. The web-site for the Melrose Hotel stated parking was $5, but they insisted on charging $15. The valet sent me to the front desk and the front desk sent me to the valet. Even though I showed the ONE SENTENCE on their site that said how much the parking was, both the front desk and valet just stared at it as if it was highly technical or in another language. Very frustrating. As a result, I was stressed going to the theater and made it to my seats at the Kennedy Center maybe 2 minutes before the performance. If you go, allow an extra 20 minutes to haggle over the cost if you use their parking...
Service was attentive, food delicious with very reasonable prices, nice decor.
