Joe Theismann's Restaurant
Lite Fare menu available after dinner until bar closes late.
Love Joe’s!! Food is always top notch! Service is fantastic and professional. We always recommend to visiting friends and try to meet them here so we can enjoy it too!
We were looking for a place to watch one of the Sunday NFL games with our kids, and they were extremely accommodating. We sat in one of the back rooms, and they put the game we wanted to watch on one of their tv's (the tv's in the front of the restaurant - by the bar - were already preset for the various games). Our waitress - I believe her name was Ashlee - also was excellent and very attentive.
Our server Debora was awesome! Very down to earth!
Excellent dinner, drinks and service! Tuna appetizer was very yeasty, as was my filet and my daugther’s chicken pasta!
We always looked forward to lunch or dinner here. Food and service always excellent. Disappointed in menu price changes. For example, house salad was always $3.00 with dinner. Now prices for dinners have gone up, the accompanying salad option price break eliminated and salad price raised to $5.00 as a separate option. Greedy.
Love this place. My business partners and I are regulars.
Service was ok. Potato skins were too overdone and overdone crumpled bacon. Calimari was good and yummy sauce.
Server was not attentive. Had to wait too long for bill and drink refills. My rare steak was medium-rare.
Great sports atmosphere! Tons of tvs that allow everyone to see their games. Our server, Rick, was awesome. He was very accommodating!
WE love this restaurant = outstanding food. Service fast and friendly. Always bring out of town guests.
The food is always great and the service I've received all the times I've been to Joe's has been excellent. Nice, friendly place.
Used to be our favorite restaurant, a block from our office However since they made changes about a month ago it is not the same any longer. It is not waiters fault since he had too many big tables. It took 15 minutes just to order ice teas, rolls never made it to our table. Lunch menu is so limited, really this was the best thing about this restaurant.
Service was slow, due to “new computer system”. Dinning with 3 people, I ordered a salad with steak. Salad arrived with no steak. It took 10 min for steak to arrive and server did not ask how I would like my steak. Server blamed the new computer system for the omitted steak and never offered compensation for inconvenience. We spoke with our tip. This service is not the norm and very disappointing.
Came here on a Date, it was my first time and it was amazing the service and atmosphere was incredible. We will be returning
We visited here during restaurant week and everyone in our party had the filet minon. It did not disappoint! The meat just melted in our mouths, the appetizers were flavorful, and the dessert was yummy. The wait staff was attentive and friendly with a fun, energetic atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant for visitors and locals alike.
We had an enjoyable lunch with great service from Alex. It happened to be Restaurant Week so we ordered the Salmon and Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding. Both were amazing. If I had to pick a dessert for my last meal on earth it would be that. It's a delight of bread, butter, cream, chocolate and amaretto. Wow! Try it, you won't be disappointed. All of the staff is friendly and kind. Thank you!
We have a couple of requests:
(1) Joe, can you ask the city of Alexandria to get 1–2 handicapped parking spaces near your entrance? We are having to park all the way up the hill near Whole Foods. This would be very helpful, especially with the construction project that will be going on for the next couple of years.
(2) Please help the environment by replacing your plastic straws with paper ones.
Loved the overall feel of the place. Staff was excellent and food was great. Definitely will return!!
Food was good, but the service was spotty. Our waitress was extremely chatty with another table and that affected her other tables. I had to actually walk up to her while she was chatting with another table to get my parking ticket that she was supposed to get validated for us. I got it validated myself at the hostess stand.
Service and food were great as always. I was eating there at around 9 p.m. There were 3-4 women at the bar who were making an incredible amount of noise and being obnoxious. I was sitting a long way from the group and they could be heard clearly.
I have been going to this property for the last 15 years, but have never heard such a commotion. I feel this is a shortcoming of management in not controlling unruly patrons who disturb others. I hope such future situations will be stopped in their tracks.
Good food, subpar service. Stopped by for brunch on Sunday, saw they had a good restaurant week menu and it was a nice day. Requested patio seating and was accommodated. Server took our order and disappeared. Appetizer came out but 20 min later, no food or server. Two other tables seated after us received their food before us. No water refills, had to go to the hostess stand to inquire. Finally received food. Was decent but took forever. Manger apologized as they were short staffed for a large lunch group.
Love to go to dinner here. The food is great, the staff fantastic and it’s close to home. We come by ourselves, with our friends, our children, our grands. I reserve ahead through OpenTable, park free in the garage and have a delightful time. When I tell my husband I “Let’s go out to dinner.” I mean LETS GO TO JOES (Theisman’s!!!!)
Joe’s has taken a steep dive south. We’ve been eating here for years...always great food and value with a varied menu. That’s all gone. Food is now directly off the Sysco truck and way over priced for what you’re given. Another Old Town restaurant ruined by Alexandria Restaurant grip.
Our waitress, Alex, was the best. We had the most wonderful chocolate milkshakes and burgers. We sat in a very comfortable booth. Ask for Alex when you go!
This was my first time going to this restaurant; food was amazing, drinks was perfect. I would highly recommend this gem to my friends and family. Bar area was full of people enjoying great conversation.
Had fish and chips, fish was average but fries were outstanding. Michelle was an excellent server. Chose because near our hotel and was recommend by concierge who also provided a discount coupon.
Always love going here. It's just a great relaxing, laid back, with good food environment!
The food was good. The hash browns were an unexpectedly cheesy surprise. Our server, Darrell, was polite, engaging, and helpful. There was a small issue with the air conditioning vent dripping on one of us a couple of times. Otherwise, everyone was friendly, and it was a good experience overall. I would go back.
Everything is delicious and staff friendly and courteous! I love the roasted salmon!
Outstanding service with world class food. Master of the basic's. Quality ingredients, perfect portions, good atmosphere! We will be back often.
We enjoyed our food and our Server was very personable.
So, I've gone to Joe Theismann's for about as long as it's been around (I even remember the days when "Theismann" referred to "MVP quarterback", not the name of a restaurant. Anyway, this is a very good sports bar in that it has lots of TVs, sports stuff hanging everywhere and good food and service. The big issue with Joe's is (like a lot of Old Town Alexandria places) massively inflated prices. A cocktail costs $16/$17. A beer is $8/$9. Their food is good but the dinner options basically start at $18 for a hamburger.
It's a good place but beware of sticker shock.
My server was very friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious! I will most certainly return.
Great menu and friendly staff, I have no complaints. It's a bit loud in the front seating area and near the bar, but if you ask for a spot in the back you can hear people at your table.
I had the blackened seafood platter, it was excellent. My husband had the fillet mignon, there wasn't a crumb left either of our plates!
My wife and I took some friends here from out of town. I learned about this place through a friend of mine and decided to try it. The appetizers were good but the pasta was cold and my wife's pork chops were basically burned. Had them send the pork chops back, and My wife finished off the chicken wings. This place may be good for Happy Hour, but for evening dining, I would recommend somewhere else to visit.
Joe's is always spot-on with food and service. Wish that the grouper and mahi-mahi had not just been removed from the menu. Matt, the GM, does a great job.
Carly is the best of the entire group and all the wait staff are well-trained.
Victor is a fabulous server. Crab cakes & scallops were superb.
Enjoyed our date night!
Love this place! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and provided great service. We had crab dip, chicken Louisiana and a Biso burger and all were excellent.
Excellent food, excellent service. We were in Alexandria for only a couple of days, and theisman's was one of the highlight.
