Excellent food and excellent service in a cool rustic environment!
We had a great meal. Lovely outdoor space in back! Very safe, cozy and delicious
We were seated promptly, food and drinks were served in a timely, professional manner. Food was tasty, well-presented, and service very good. We did have to wait a bit for an Irish coffee that was served well after the other after dinner drinks, but the bar was busy.
One suggestion-we had the banofee pie and liked it , but thought it might have been good to drizzle a little chocolate over the top?
We have never been disappointed when we come here. The food is delicious. The service is always great. And we love the overall ambiance. It’s definitely one of our favorite places on the UES.
Everything was great, from the service to the meal to the sociall distancing!!!
Ordered 3 English breakfasts largely based on the picture provided on the menu. What came tasted good however the picture showed 2 sausages, 2 black pudding etc - we only received 1 of each which was not reflective of the price. We also ordered an eggs Benedict where the eggs weren’t even runny which defeated the point of ordering it. The drinks tasted dreadful - we are not a fussy group but had to send back a round of margaritas because they were tasteless and the substitute spirit being used was horrendous. As a Brit living in NYC we were excited to taste a bit of home but we certainly wouldn’t return
Best afternoon in a long time! Great outdoor seating - bright and spacious. Yummy mulled wine and fish & chips. Pricey but worth it!
One of my favourite places. Highly recommend. Great food and service!
We’ve been going to Jones Wood since it first opened. It was good to be back for indoor dining. The food was as good as ever, and they have a wonderful selection of beer and ale as well as wine. It’s our favorite local place for an easy and relaxed dinner.
Great first time here! Food was delicious. Nathan was our waiter and was great. Loved the outdoor garden.
We were really looking forward to visiting as we are British and really enjoy the British pub atmosphere. Unfortunately some of the food was below par. My husband ordered the Scotch Egg and it was overcooked/burnt and the chips were a little overcooked too. I ordered the Sunday lunch and although the meat was very tasty the roast potatoes were very clearly reheated and tough and the vegetables had been reheated by placing them in the deep fryer (the broccoli had residue of other fried items on it). There was very little gravy to accompany the meat and the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked. On a more positive note the JFW burger my daughter ordered was delicious and our friend enjoyed the Eggs Benedict very much. We understand these are challenging times but we had expected a more positive experience.
I'd come back weekly!
Get the burger if you eat meat.
Thought my reservation was for indoors instead we were seated in the "garden" which is a combination indoors/outdoors. It was cold and we should have asked for another table in that ours was very, very close to a door that the servers had to go through which meant it was repeatedly opened. The door connected the garden to the indoor seating area which was warmer, so it was strange that whenever the door a rush of cold air was felt at our table. My friend's hangar steak & its accompaniments were very good. My salmon was very good too but not the supposed sides it came with, which consisted of some type of green "paste" and miniscule bits of cauliflower, so it was as if my plate consisted of just a piece of overpriced salmon. I'd go there again but would not sit at the same table and would definitely not order the salmon plate.
We sat in the back garden, where the ambiance was lovely. They had clear dividers to help with covid social distancing. Staff was lovely and food was great. Will continue to come here!
Great staff, good food, reasonable prices!
I came here for brunch and sat in the outdoor patio. It was a very very cold day so even with the heaters it was a bit chilly, I would recommend warm footwear since the heat doesn’t really get down to the ground. The food and service were great! I highly recommend the mulled wine and the French onion soup!
Went for the Burns Night haggis dinner special and the food was *delicious*, as all their food is, and the waiter was so helpful when figuring out good drinks pairings!
We were in the middle part of the restaurant which was not outdoors and it was actually pretty cold in there. Need to consider heaters on the floor.
Great Ales and cider, good food, nice outdoor space.
Best British food this side of the pond 🇬🇧 And, I have to say, Fuller’s London Pride is better chilled ;) Definitely want to go back and work my way through this menu.
Delicious food in a nice casual setting on the back patio. The heaters worked well enough so we were not uncomfortable dining outdoors. Would recommend.
It was super tasty and love the courtyard for outdoor dining!
Perfect as always. COVID friendly and delicious.
excellent service and food!
A friend recommended this place and she was right. The restaurant has 2 outdoor spaces set up, one on 76th Street and one in the back garden, both covered and heated, so perfect for the current situation. the servers were very nice in trying to accommodate our large party of 8. the food was excellent, especially the fish and chips and the crispy chicken. good size portions and quite fast service. overall we had a great time and will definitely go back and recommend to others.
The service was excellent and the food is always great - good for a date or dinner with a friend!
My new go to spot on the upper East side. The food and service is absolutely impeccable!
Food and service is always vey good. A little cold outside as Christmas tree is hanging over table instead of heater.
Our server was Nathan and he was very friendly and accommodating. Food was great as usual, so were the drinks.
Food was nice, a little expensive for what we ate!we we’re a little rushed out, but overall it was a good experience!
Great location to enjoy high quality gastro-pub British food with a twist. We had a really nice New Years Day lunch in the tent out front given Covid-19. Liked it better than the Winter Garden in the back, but both are nice. Tent is more open, less people. Scotch eggs were delightful. Mulled wine was not too sweet with the right spice. Perfect for a cold day. Yorkshire pudding was very good. French onion soup perfect. Steak and eggs were enough for a VERY hungry person. We took half home. Fish and chips really good and burger was superb. Can’t say anything bad about it. Waiters and wait staff very attentive. Would highly recommend this place for a wee bit of joy in an otherwise tough pandemic winter. They staff was superb.
I wanted to try something new since my boyfriend and I always do Italian/Mediterranean. The food here was delicious. I got the Lamb Shepard’s Pie which was incredible. Service was great as well. Would come back
Has always been a strong staple of the UES. Good food and consistent service. They have an indoor patio which helps to keep everyone safe during the time of the COVID...
Lovely lunch. French onion soup is fabulous as was the grilled cheese sandwich with Stilton and Béchamel. It's worth it.
Wonderful place with terrific service. The only objection we had was that it was a bit too chilly in the back garden. It's heated from above but space heaters on the floor would improve it. Otherwise, it's one of our favorite places to eat.
Excellent food, wonderful ambiance. Outside in 32 degree weather made comfortable by heat lamps.
As always, an absolute treat. The Christmas menu was completely delicious, the outdoor setup was great with the heaters and the service was lovely.
Delicious food; outstanding service; lovely setting. The one thing that could be a bit better is the strength of the heaters in the garden. It was ok but could have been a bit warmer.
Good comfort food prepared in a charming setting. A neighborhood gem!
