   We had the Chinese scallion pancake, tofu salad, mackerel, and their joule dessert. Everything was wonderful and the server we had was very helpful. Would eat here again if we can get a seat.

   We had a good dinner at Joule. The outdoor patio is one one of the best set-ups I have seen in Seattle due to the open fire pit in the middle of the space and walls enclosing two of the 3 exposed sides of the space. The result is a comfortable (at least in spring) and calm setting. The food was a little hit and miss. We really liked the pancake scallion, tofu, the chinese broccoli, and the "that" meat entree. I, personally, liked the ricke cake with chorizo, but others in my group were not as enthusiastic. On the negative side, we could not cut the coulotte with our beautiful steak knives because it was so tough and chewy. And the mackerel, which is obviouly a salty fish, appeared to get another dose of salt in the kitchen - making it too salty. For desserts, the hummingbird cake was great, the pavlova not so much as it was way too sweet and the consistency seemed a little off. Bottom-line, Joule is good value for the money and seems to be a popular destination for dates.

   Wow. What a unique experience. The food was diverse, unique, scrumptious, beautifully presented. Our server was knowledgeable, helpful, pleasant, appropriately attentive. The owner emphasizes locally sourced and women-owned menu items. We cannot wait to return.

   This is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Great outdoor seating (covered, with heaters), stellar service and delicious food. Get the rice cakes and the kimchi starter. They also do a really good old fashioned.

   2nd time visiting Joule. Liked it a lot more the first time last summer. Dishes lacked texture at times, lack acid, but the worst was a big bowl of Chinese broccoli , thick, undercook , hard stems was the majority and leaves were like leather. This being said, walnut pesto on them was yummy. The flavor was always there in the supporting sauce or add-on condiment. Halibut cooked so perfect , lovely and fresh. But it just did not feel worth it or feel like it was shining. BTW the Joule Box is the most amazing dessert… My companion agreed, would not want to come back… It’s true that short rib is yummy too, but… I hate that it feels like we ordered the “wrong” things. Should be rock star across the menu… I would recommend to others to at least try for themselves… beware of the Chinese broccoli, felt a bit like a giraffe trying to chew and swallow it.

    Went here for mother's day dinner with my parents. The evening could not have been more perfect. We were seated outside so I was a bit worried it was going to be too cold, since my mom had been saying she was chilly the whole visit. However, the fire pit and overhead heating elements did a great job. Our waitress nicely explained that the menu is intended to be explored 'family style' which we knew ahead of time, but we were happy to get her opinion on how many dishes we should order. She suggested 6-8 for the 3 of us. We went with 6 (+2 desserts) and it was a perfect amount of food. She checked in on us regularly without being overbearing. All of the food was phenomenal. We had the scallion pancake, shrimp, spicy rice cakes, chinese broccoli, short rib steak, and halibut. Everything was cooked to perfection. For dessert we got the Joule box and hummingbird cake. My dad said the Joule box was the best dessert he's ever had, and my mom and I devoured the hummingbird cake. Overall an excellent evening and I will 100% be returning, especially any time I have folks visiting from out of town.

    We hadn't been in several years and it was fantastic. The short rib steak and Chinese broccoli we excellent, as were the grits with bottarga. We celebrated Mother's Day there and it was perfect.

    A very unique menu. Everything with an interesting Korean influence. The rice cakes with chorizo, kimchee trio and short rib steak were particularly good. Terrific food and friendly, laid back staff.

    Really enjoyed the food here and the waitstaff is friendly. There is definitely something mismatched with reservation times and the kitchen being in sync. We noticed most of the time we and other tables didn't have food. Lots of people just kind of sitting and staring towards the kitchen waiting for food to come out. We ordered two apps, a rice dish, and three entrees to share - each came out separately, 10-15 minutes apart from each other. We were tempted to order dessert but were kind of done with waiting around and had already been the an hour and half.

    Outstanding meal with phenomenally pleasant staff. The bone marrow is amazing, best we’ve ever had. Every course, every cocktail was excellent. Worth a visit to Seattle just for this restaurant.

    Pro-tip: the rice cakes can be made vegetarian with mushrooms, and they are DELICIOUS. The Chinese pancake was the best I've ever had. Loved everything but the sideways rain nearly coming onto the patio.

    I definitely feel like the quality of Joule's food has gone way down over the past few years. It used to be an absolute favorite restaurant but things fell short on our recent visit. The cocktails in particular were a weak point... really sweet, not great flavor combinations... and we probably tried 7-8 of them between us.

    Joule recently improved their menu to highlight all allergen information. I eat dairy free for allergy reasons so it was great to have the entire menu be so informative. The food itself was great, I've been here a couple of times and so far the menu always has something fresh. I bring folks here when I want to show them someplace nice in Seattle.

    We had a nice dinner at Joule last night to celebrate my wife's birthday, our first visit. We were seated promptly at 6:30 for our reservation. The place was packed ! Patrick, our server, explained several of the dishes and the glass wine pours.We split two apps: the Chinese scallion pancake, which was excellent with a large dollop of red caviar; and the super fresh Beet lettuce salad. Patrick paired that with a tasty Bordeaux white blend wine. For mains, my wife had a wonderful Halibut dish and I had " that " Short rib steak. I was a little disappointed in my short rib as it was cooked medium rare and a little tough, and the grilled kimchi with it was so spicy I couldn't taste the rest of my meal, or big red wine. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish ? Patrick was observing that I wasn't enjoying my dinner and brought over a Spring nettle rice dish so I didn't go home hungry. Very good service !!! One other caveat, we sat next to the open air kitchen, which provided us a ton of heavenly food aromas... BUT, the noise from the cooks throwing the pans around got to be too much after 1-1/2 hours of banging. We will definitely give Joule another shot, but next time, we will request to sit away from the kitchen. Cheers !

    Just not good veggie choices, went for the octopus and it is not on the menu but it is on the web sight. Under cooked or raw veggies we paid and left and quick as we could. With that said the staff and service were amazing. Maybe just not my food, but it was hard to even give a 1 star.

    Our group of adventurous and appreciative diners had one of the best dinners ever. Every dish we chose was excellent. And there was a delightfully surprising element to every single dish. We especially loved the seafood dishes, although we came expecting to be drawn to the beef by Joule's reputation. Menu items we are dreaming about enjoying again: scallion pancakes, spicy rice cake, Chinese broccoli, prawns, mackerel, back cod, tahini bar. Cocktails were great - Jalisco Campfire was perfect for our patio dining next to a roaring fire pit. Serious praise and gratitude for every person involved in this amazing restaurant. The chefs are truly deserving of the accolades.
